No - I got stuck there, but I've seen plenty of previews so worked out the rest of it.

Stumbled into an awesome hang out spot at the cafe in Carnforth.

Not sure if you are able to at any other station but at Morecombe station you can go in the gents loos and actually sit on one of the loos in the cubicle, so how's that for realism, was however disappointed that you couldn't flush it. :D

The route is excellent as I fully expected it to be, just trains have certainly set a high bar for others and themselves to beat.

I did but it took me a couple of minutes, I eventually put the brake back on and then released it again and it acknowledged it.

So in about a year or so there could be another JT route to acquire. By that time the WCMLOS may be in a sale....and some of the bugs MAY of been fixed.

I wonder if JT are making a WD 2-8-0 ?
Unlikely as we already have an the 8f.

It is quite simply the best route we have had, the level of detail, modelling accuracy and obvious care taken. I did not come across any bugs on my first full lengthen trip with an 87. Compare WCML south to WCNL North, I would only pay £9.99 for WCML South and avoided buying due to the many issues which, again been partially a community fix. Just Trains was a day one and the price is reflected in the quality.

They should be given NTP to extend to Preston and update at the same time!

Posted most of my thoughts in the official feedback forum.

    tl:dr

Generally pleased with the route and Class 87, but not the performance particularly sound hitching and rubber banding. Can’t just dismiss as my potato PC as console users seem to be experiencing the same thing. So either it’s a core thing and over to DTG, or JT have done a Sherman Hill and need to go back in for a bit of optimisation. All those grass and crop assets in the lineside fields must be taking a toll.

Going to play around with settings later including the nuclear option of kicking FPS down to 30, but the sound issues completely ruin the otherwise fine job done with the 87 audio.

The AI driver system is still broken. The game is allocating through AI driver to the wrong cab just like in Blackpool branches. I'm assuming the game allocates the AI driver to cab number 1 regardless of direction of travel. In Blackpool Branches the AI was doing this on the class 47 services.

This is now happening on the 87 services.

What this means is that the AI is essentially driving through train from the cab which is facing the coaching stock.

DtG continues to push a broken core product. I reported the AI driver issue on Blackpool Branches months ago and received no response.

Whoops, my bad. Terrible parking at Lancaster.
A meeting with the manager with no tea and biscuits now calling.
I'm surprised it didn't cause a service failure.

That could explain the main headlight not being switched on passing some of the AI Class 87 hauled services.

And without over criticism towards JT, beginning to wonder why some of the issues being reported weren’t picked up and addressed during testing? Or was the pressure on from DTG to “publish and be damned”.

In other words, the ship is good but someone left off the ha’penny worth of tar.

The AI drivers being in the wrong cab on some diagrams (it seems to only affect diagrams that have a loco run round or reversal) didn't come up in testing, the team have started working through this and other bugs that have been found since release.

very encouraging to hear you are already on it.
Can the crashing to desktop (Series S) be looked at as a priority please. As this is a long route it’s really disappointing to get from Preston to Penrith or near Carlisle and then lose all your progress as just happened to me.

    Great route, very impressive.
Having trouble with 7T57 though (class 47 with wagons). Can't seem to pull the wagons at all, massive wheel slip. If I uncouple them, no problem, class 47 moves off. Handbrakes are off . Probably I'm doing something wrong.

Good news though I think the sound jittering is the main issue as it ruins the smooth notes of the Class 87 audio.

I just want to convey my gratitude to all at Just Trains for what you have done for us British Rail fans. I have spent the last year mainly on the Blackpool Branches route, quite often just trainspotting at Preston, taking in the atmosphere of the railway I knew and which has gone forever. I travelled the Carlisle route as a teenager with my mates on "Merrymaker" excursions in the 70s. In the 80s I travelled it as a young man with my wife and children, visiting the in-laws at Aberdeen. Overnight on one memorable occasion because, "it'll be quieter ". It wasn't, and when we joined the train at Preston, it was absolutely heaving. I got the family seats but spent the rest of the trip to Perth on a suitcase in the corridor. Fortunately a class 40 hauled rake of mk1s for the final leg made up for it.

This game, as someone else said, is all about memories, it certainly is for me and I have to admit to feeling quite emotional when I first heard the sound of the 87s fans once again. The route is a triumph, I bought it yesterday and there is so much to do and I'm looking forward to trainspotting at Carlisle and watching the expresses hurtling through Lancaster non stop. I just pray that Just Trains could one day "finish off" the Trans Pennine route and complete Manchester Victoria, with the subway and the iconic tiled Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway map, and give the route a decent timetable. Your work on Blackpool and Carlisle shows what could have been.

I only had chance to run a timetable service from Carlisle to Preston, and my feedback would be the exact opposite. The performance out of the box was pretty good for a first run. Performance seems so random for people that DTG really need to get this nailed.

    Feedback for JT.
On said timetable service I came across a small issue, partly of my own doing. I jumped straight in without the manual and was doing pretty well until my wife and daughter came home and distracted me. Must have missed a neutral zone and lost all power. Not really knowing what to do, I left the cab and went for a walk through the 87 engine room. When I got to the other cab door and opened it, I was transported to the first carriage. Only way back to the driving seat was ctrl & 0

Very happy with this purchaise and well worth the price. The 87 is phenomenal, on top all the liveries coming with the package + the coaches. Great work JT! The detail of the cl.87 is insane considering the scope of this dlc.

My critic is "minor", so here a few points i noticed so far, but would be nice if JT decides to adress them.

    - mk3 functionality (already reported), light switches are not working and gangway doors cant be opened on foot. I recommend to change this, because it would look odd on static consists when all of them are illuminated.

    - In all fairness, Rivet made an excellent cl.37 (center headbox) + aws equipped jubilee. I really wish those dlcs would substitute into the layers. The 37 for the tvl layer, and the aws jubilee into the sos layer

    - havent been around carlisle in that time, but some yards and sidings look a bit too empty. I whish there would be more static stock placed. I mean there is some, but i can immagine those places looked more filled up especially the yards. But like mentioned, i cant say for sure how it was back then.

    This is extreme nutpicking:
    - i noticed the pacer doesnt have a fuel cap, would be great to add this and the local start from the outside similar to the 101.

Well thats it, overall im excited to have another great br 90s route

Only two surprises left for this route is the loco dlc and the mastery reward.

You could try the Lossless Scaling tool, Jetwash is a strong proponent and uses it to boost 30 fps to 60. I have tried it myself in 60/120 mode and it works well, even just as a 2x frame generation tool.

Great route so far! The Class 87 is a ton of fun to drive.

My only issue is weird snow textures on trees. My run started clear in Preston, then rain after Lancaster, which changed to snow after Oxenholme as i was climbing the hills, which is a cool touch i remember from SPG, but as the snow started to accumulate, it looked REALLY bad on some of the trees (which there are a lot of lol), like the trees would pop-in pure blinding white and then the texture would change to the correct one, so it kinda looks like the opposite of popcorn popping lol . Maybe this is a core TSW issue- i usually drive the current date so it's the first time i've seen snow in TSW5.

Maybe i have a broken mod installed, but i don't think i do as i don't generally use graphics mods.

    Otherwise it's fantastic!

Also on Series S and the same happened to me last night unfortunately. Decided to try the Jubilee rail tour and got as far as Penrith, when the game crashed as I passed through the station. Had a decent run up Shap poor too. Was really enjoying the route until then.

Got more time tonight to see whether I can get to Carlisle.

For PC/Steam. according to SteamDB, London Overground released at 1600 (GMT). But Fife was at 1800 the week later.
There is always the possibility that any DLC that are released at mid-end of March/Beginning of November may appear 1 hour earlier in UK/Europe due to the US changing clocks at different times to UK/Europe (I've not verified if this does occur but I guess it could)

Glad it’s not just me with the crashing on Series S, hopefully JT can be made aware and look into it. Otherwise, I’m finding this route quite unbelievable. I think we are finally seeing that TSW can do good things and be an excellent train simulator.

I'm getting this occasionally also with the annoying microstutters. 60 fps most of time apart from the microstuttters. I've a feeling my old machine can't keep up with the newer routes unfortunately, the old ones (gwe, ntp even mml) run as smooth as silk. The newer ones such as ecml, Goblin all microstutter. I'm just wondering if it's anything to do with the newer foliage? Sad times, need to finally upgrade my system by the looks of it...

Thank you J.T. for the time, hard work & love you have invested in this project, it’s a masterpiece, I tried to find a glaring lineside omission but you HAVE included ‘Garstang Creamery’ !

My desktop pc is 14- 15 years old now. Main board + i7 cores are still original from back then.

Preston carlisle runns very smooth, but the computer is showing its age with the three tsw 5 core routes in the sunset times and rain weather. Beside that i dont have performance issues at all. (Except the known microstutters, i guess everybody encounters them)

Well that thought is always in the back of my mind, but then we get the PS5 with its fixed hardware and no possibility of mods interfering (though as stated I'm running vanilla) which also has issues. Got to be the core and/or a combination of it bottlenecking and rubber banding the sound when the load gets too much.

The interesting thing about these sound jitters is that I'm not getting the graphical stutter and pauses that used to plague routes like BML. Though not sure what that points to...

Sounds are ok on my machine, initial run stutter while the shader cache is written which happens on all routes.

Has anyone noticed if any services make use of the Newspaper coaches from Preston-Blackpool? I've checked out a few of the mail trains but they seem to just be Express Parcels.

I have to say on PS5 so far with this route, there are 0 sound issues and frame rates are actually much better than expected. 35-45fps steady with some drops on the base PS5. Even smoother on the Pro.

For those who have the route, how many workings are on the timetable that can be operated with Class 37s?

Okay we’ll have made sure the HDMI audio is disabled (it wasn’t previously).
Changed a few settings like fog quality down to medium.
Dropped the FPS to maximum 30 (not sure if I should leaving VSync on or off).

But sorry to report the sound rubber banding is still present.

Well the next thing is to finish up this run to Preston as I assume the shaders continue to cache on the initial run even if you break and save in the middle.

Also contrary to what I put earlier, the graphics are juddering as well.

Been enjoying the route so far, my only real problem is that the hills between Oxenholme and Penrith can't be seen from distance, they just appear when you are close to them, as if a switch has been flicked.

Make sure you've flipped the change end lever under the second man seat. There are 2 one for AWS and the other is the change ends switch

That's the Windermere branch. There is IIRC some AI services. The track work is there (they mentioned it on thr preview stream) but it's not driveable or explorable.

Been having a bit of free roam fun at Steamtown Carnforth trundling up and down the demonstration line with the Red Jubilee, although it's a bit more tricky setting up routes out of the depot roads.

Also did a quick Pacer run from Lancaster to Carnforth and a quick 47 run from Kingmoor to Carlisle.
