Introduction: Good day to everyone in this post! Today, I would like to make a new post to the forums on a potential route that could be added as a future Train Sim World series route. The route I would love to propose is the GO Transit Lakeshore East Corridor + CN York Subdivision. This corridor sees over 100 passenger trains head between the City of Oshawa, Ontario and Union Station, Toronto, serving a total of 10 GO Transit Stations and 3 VIA Rail Stations. On top of that, there is a freight corridor that runs parallel to a lot of the route, that being the CN Kingston Subdivision, which turns into the CN York Sub as it heads to MacMillan Yard, one of Canada’s largest Marshaling yards. I have lived near this route my entire life, and it would be a really good, diverse addition to Trains Sim World. Features: Some Key Features of the route include: +140 Weekday & +110 Weekend Services of combined Freight and Passenger Over 100 km of track Real track diagrams of all track used, its use case, any overlapping trackage, bridges, crossings etc A fully interactive Google MyMaps outline Addition of never seen before Locomotives, and the reusage of previously added locomotives Very large expansion potential between other potential North American Routes The track speed of the entire route is 160 km/h or 95 mph MyMap link https://www.google.com/maps/d/embed?mid=1u0UmvGZRcCVpWQXi25h13ZHlYXbtWcc&hl=en&ehbc=2E312F Interactive Time table for the entire route https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...ouid=103612872124679211913&rtpof=true&sd=true GO Transit: GO Transit is no stranger to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. It is one of the largest commuter railroads in North America, transporting millions of passengers each year. In the outline of this route, it will take place on the Lakeshore East portion, the 2nd most busy route on their system. The route will service 10 total stations; Durham College Oshawa GO, Whitby GO, Ajax GO, Pickering GO, Rouge Hill GO, Danforth GO, Eglinton GO, Scarborough GO, Danforth GO and finally, Union Station. This line features the departure of the largest city in Canada, Toronto, and goes along the Golden Horseshoes coast line. This line would be expected to give a lot of vibrant scenery, whilst also dwelling in the urbanistic side of the game. (Oshawa GO/VIA) Rouge Hill GO Union Station The rolling stock GO Transit uses is not new to the Train Sim World Community. The line features the F59PH, the MP40PH-3C, a 4000 HP variant of the MP36PH, and the MP54AC, a 5400 HP variant of the MP40PH-3C, adding in AC traction into the mix. As for coaches, GO Transit operates 12 car long trains, consisting of Bombardier BiLevel Coaches, a train call already existent on the Cal Train route, and Subsequent Metrolinx Routes. The addition of the rolling stock would be one of the easiest things that could be done for this route. GO Transit F59PH GO Transit MP40PH-3C GO Transit MP54AC VIA Rail: VIA Rail is Canada’s intercity rail transport company, and its origins were much like Amtrak's; a combination of the failing passenger routes that the local government refused to see die. VIA Rail operates on CN Trackage between the stations of Oshawa VIA and Pickering GO and then shares use with GO Transit until it reaches Toronto’s Union Station. VIA Rail stops at Oshawa VIA, Danforth VIA and Union Station. The rolling stock of VIA rail is pretty diverse. VIA Rail uses the P42DC locomotive by GE and the F40PH-2D, most recently also acquiring SCV-42 Locomotives, a 4200 variant of the Siemens Charger series. The railroad also operates a collection of LRC cars behind the P42s and F40PHs and older BUDD cars. VIA Rail operates ~15 trains into Toronto, and over ~25 bound for Ottawa and Montreal on this route. VIA Rail F40PH-2D VIA Rail P42DC VIA Rail SCV-42 VIA Rail LRC Cars VIA Rail BUDD Cars Canadian National Railway: CN is one of two Class 1 railroads that operate across Canada, and is a vital portion that makes this route feel vibrant. The route starts at CNs Oshawa Yard, and follows the GO Transit track until Pickering Junction, in which it goes over Highway 401 and starts heading north towards Markham, Ontario. The line becomes single track between Pickering Junction and McCowan Bridge, which then becomes double track. The line then goes along Highway 407 until it reaches MacMillan yard. There are a lot of industries outlined in the area for local switching services they take part in, and are outlined on the Google MyMaps link. This portion sees over 40 freight trains between the 2 yards and is staple of all freight traffic coming from the East side of Canada to the rest and even the US. CN Oshawa Yard CN MacMillan Yard CN harbours a large, diverse fleet of locomotives around the route, some of which are already in the game; there are a couple that I would like to personally outline as they would be the most fitting. For switching operations, there can be a refusal of the GP9RM, and the addition of 2 brand new locomotives that are in wide usage, CNs ES44DCs and GP40-2W. As a part of their mainline fleet, I can see a lot of opportunity in the addition of 3 mainline locomotives. The addition of CNs SD70M-2, SD75IACC and the long awaited GE ET44AC. A full list of locomotives that they could add will be below: CN GP40-2W CN ES44DC CN SD70M-2 SD75IACc CN ET44AC Canadian National Railway - CPTDB Wiki (Canadian Public Transit Discussion Board) Conclusions: In conclusion, I think this route would be one of the greatest routes that could ever come into the game, and offer a diverse feel of what North American freight and passenger service really is. We haven't had a new North American Mainline sub in years, and we are definitely overdue from something new, something especially on the Canadian side of things. This route really does have it all, long distance trains, commuter trains, high density/high priority freight etc. A special thanks to mrsurfliner#7618 for helping with the timetable.
