Not a sale as such but you can get good discounts on PlayStation wallet topups at shopto.net
Usually around 15% off, ie a £40 ps wallet top-up for under £35. Saves a bit of money...
Thereafter , use it to buy TSW2 add-ons for a cheaper price

As a newbie to TS. Can anybody tell me if I am better buying the Chinese version since I seem to get the Loco pack while is required by a lot of other content for free instead of the UK version ?

    Thanks in advance,

You might just want to get the normal game and then purchase one of the routes that include it, which are most of the older routes (Great Western, East Coast Mainline, Somerset and Dorset etc) as it would be cheaper. However, the Chinese edition is currently at an all time low, along with the other regional editions, so if you are interested in any of its content this is the time to buy! Or if you are interested in any of the TS2021 routes you might want to wait until that comes out to buy the game

Great tip but not really applicable here though, this is the TS2020 forum not TSW or TSW2 and TS2020 is PC only not consoles.

Well done trainmania. The topic is about the latest sales, so I cannot see the problem Reef. Note all sales for any DTG product on here please, it doesn’t bother me.

Steam normally have an Octoberfest sale which normally begins during the last week of this month, but as most Octoberfest events have been cancelled, we may have to wait for the Annual Hallowe’en Sale at the end of October before getting our hands on any bargains.

Unsure, I would ask TBT directly if that affects them. Or if they even sell it to people outside the US.

RSSLO is having a sale until the 25th. The prices on the routes that DTG also offers are cheaper direct through RSSLO right now. So like Arlbergbahn, Mittenwaldbahn, etc.

I have discovered why the RSSLO routes are cheaper through RSSLO's sale than DTG's sale. The RSSLO routes that DTG also sells, like Arlbergbahn do not come with locos in the RSSLO version, so you'll need to have other RSSLO routes already that came with the required loco for the scenarios, or buy it separate. The DTG released RSSLO routes come with a loco for the scenarios so they're slightly more.

Would it be better to wait for the Steam Halloween sale or go ahead and purchase something now? I'm trying to get the better deal here as the prices are higher than usual for the monster sale.

Maybe grab the stuff that you want that also has the biggest discounts. There are some things I'd like but are only 20% off or something, in which case I'm waiting for Steam to see if its any better. But stuff that I want that is 50% or 60% off, I pulled the trigger on.

If Steam is a disappointment, in one month there will be the black friday sales, so you won't have to wait long.

I just remember the F40PH usually going around for $3.50 and the P42DC (EB) around $5.99ish.

Also, I'm worried about the E8 and SDP40F being forgotten about on Steam, as that has happened in the past.

Why are you "worried about the E8 and SDP40F being forgotten about on Steam"?
It's not the end of the world if it does not appear in this sale

I am talking about "worried" as in a less exaggerated way. You are correct, in the fact that this is a minor detail that will not have a major impact on life. All I am trying to do is to best make use of the sales that are being provided at this time of year.

The Christmas and Summer sales are generally the best. Like I said, use isthereanydeal.com and look at the price history to see how well a current offer compares.

Doesn't look much different from the Monster Sale at the Dovetail Store. Was sort of hoping some of the discounts would be a little different, but Black Friday/Winter is the better sale anyway.

    Has Steam done this???

    Screenshot_20201029-201725_Chrome.jpg
ABSOLUTELY B×××DY WORTH IT IN MY OPINION...

Put an item on that lots of people (including me!!!) want but they are basically saying you can't have it as there's no price...

Worth it, worth it, worth it...!!!

    Rant over...

The only thing that you cannot get from that pack elsewhere, is the Virgin 47. You can get a VERSION of it from Bossman Games Welsh marches route, but it's a fictional livery meant to be West Coast maroon livery, so it can be re-skinned I suppose, and someone, somewhere will do it if it's not already done. As for the rest.. HST, 86, 87, Mk2 and Mk3 stock... it is all available elsewhere... and much higher quality as well.

https://alanthomsonsim.com/?download=virgin-trains-west-coast-loco-hauled-pack THis is a truly excellent addon.

The AP HST packs include Virgin livery. I can't remember if it has since been de-branded, but there's also this... https://alanthomsonsim.com/?download=hst-branded-virgin-west-coast-cross-country-pack

There is a Virgin reskin for the old Kuju 47 though on DP Simulations... along with a couple of other HST reskins. https://dpsimulation.org.uk/dpsreskins.html

The only thing I regret not getting this for is the 47. Everything else is done better in the above assets if you ask me.

    Pookyhead...

I've seen a few reskins on Backdated Trainsim... I've got the Marches route, does this mean I can use the Backdated Trainsim reskins???

If you are referring to the 47, unfortunately no, as they're for the virgin model, not the Marches 47 but it should be possible to reskin it. I've not done it, but I'm sure someone will, somewhere. Technically possible, although a pain in the arse I would imagine.

By the same, I mean it is based on the same model, with the same improved cab textures.

    Why should they?
Most people have signed up for email alerts

If they only posted on this forum people who don't see the forum would not know about the sale
Also some people might miss the announcement

So have I. I got no e-mail alert. Also, it would reach those that have not yet put themselves on the mailing list.

Mine came thru - Thu, 12 Nov at 18:01
It would only reach those who read the post - not everyone reads every post.

They could have a Belt and Braces idea where they continue to sent out the emails and post in the Announcements section although we have two threads about the sale in two days

This thread is non-specific and could be missed whereas the other thread mentions just this sale.

I assumed that people would sign up to find out about new releases, sales etc
Maybe some people don't wish to know this information unless they read it on this forum and other methods of communication are not used?

    Why are you bothered?

Don't worry about it, Peter's your friendly forum member that reminds us how awesome it is on the UKTS forum, where his style of posting is apparently the norm.

Always always take p***ing off Peter as a win, always.

(Don't worry he also has such an awesome sense of humour he wont react negatively to my banter)
