would be nice if freight wasnt just A to B... but actually like... take this loco, go there, pick x wagons of y there and z elsewhere... take those to somewhere... like, actually doing freight, not just doing initial setup and then doing just passenger-less service through most of the map

e.g. like picking tanker wagons with raw oil, driving em to nearby refinery... uncoupling them there, and picking up wagons with gas and such...

If they want to be accurate, they would give the 120s (with 101 sub) the ICs, and put the IRs behind 103s (both beige/crimson and Orient red).

At this time 1997 you need to consider the fact that both DB Baureihe 101 & 103 ran CNL EN222/223 Donau Kurier. which itself would have been the predecessor of the current 182/1116/1293 Nightjet on the route. One more thing from that link which shows Long Distance Services from Koblenz Hbf there's the ICE2 service to Hauptstrecke München Augsburg ICE 511.

I already realised that. I wanted to post it first but you were quicker.
The problem only seems to be on the right side, so for me the left wiper runs without a standing point

It’s the ‘bolt’ that’s anchored. You don’t have that issue on BRO…

    Hi,

After driving many times manually controling the notches on the BR103 and 110 I wondered if there is an automatic mode where you set a notch and the locomotive works automatically up to the specified notch while accelerating ?

You mean like on the 155? No, they don’t have such systems. The real 103s had an AFB-like system originally but that was disabled due to various problems it caused and as such the 103s in TSW have not implemented it.

I stop hoping that the broken PZB of the BR 103 will be ever fixed. Seems that fixing major bugs like this is no longer in the focus of DTG. It’s frustrating, especially since this is no day one bug but something which was broken afterwards during another patch.

More frustrating if you've read here at some point where Maik Goltz said that the PZB was fixed by him but its just waiting for DTGs release. I wonder why they don't increase the frequency of updates for bugfixes...

Is DTG ever going to fix the LFR 110 Livery Designer model? It's currently unusable because nothing can be placed more than halfway down!

This really stinks, because the time period really calls for some older surviving liveries, whereas by the time of BRO ca. 2010, they were pretty much all red and so doing one in cobalt blue or ocean blue/ivory using the BRO version would be all wrong.

Also a complaint, of which this scenario is representative of many in TSW- not enough bloody time allotted!

In the scenario All Change, you have to shut down your cab, run to the other end of the train, set up the cab, run a brake test, fail the brake test, shut down that cab, run 300 meters to a new train, set up that cab, load passengers and depart-- all in five minutes!

That's simply bloody ridiculous. There is absolutely no way to run the second half of the service to schedule.

which could mean the scenario hasn't actually been tested by a real person, not some presumed QA team member?

All Change is the scenario that irritated me enough to make this post in 2023. Is the Bingen Stadt stop marker still at the beginning of the platform?

    The Left Rhine Route feedback

Let's get to the positive first:
You get a 103 with old IC cars, a 110 with N cars + Bnrdzf control cars.
You get a relatively long route
The route is often on sale (for reasons I will mention shortly)

    Negatives:
-Optical design Gets a 5 from me! It's the same thing as all German routes: "Yes, that's fine" and "We've definitely got something simmilar in the library" - using models that have already been used millions of times in the same way
-Using a BR 110 as a freight locomotive is absolutely wrong! The 110 was designed and built as a pure passenger locomotive. Comparable freight locomotives are BR 140.
-Signals without models. I've had the "Train service failed: stop signal passed" state several times even though I didn't even cross a signal, shunting board, distant signal or anything else! *You can see the signal on the button 9 map, but it is not displayed visually with a magnet or signal. So basically a non-existent signal*
-Switches wont work in free roam! Route set and it goes over a switch... and... You drive over but you are not guided over the switch!
-Track fault (rail vehicle derailed). It's often been enough that my locomotive has simply derailed for no reason (the actual reason is because the rail was slightly offset, it's just behind Boppard)

The route is really all well and good in real life, but implemented absolutely poorly in TSW.

Anyone who wants to buy the Route PLEASEE get it in the sale because the cheapest one only costs 4 euros!

The 110 was used for freight so the timetable is busier. It's either dtg includes as much services as possible to make a route busy by sacrificing some realism or be realistic and have a very quiet route with a very low chance the appropriate train will be added. Both have their pros and cons. Can't please everyone unfortunately

It will help if the 218 subs in on freight (and the passenger runs that go to unelectried branches). But that would mean adding an Orientrot livery for it.

Or a ocean blue/beige one. But that won’t happen,. Both the livery and the substitution on LFR.

ok so basically in TSW, when driving BR110, no matter what key you use to open doors, it automatically opens/closes doors on the side that platform is on, right? since it doesnt have door side selector? :) oh man, I am discovering new things after such a long time lol

looks like BR103 works like this also :o

    Yep, that's about right :)

All coaches* have TB5. This means that the doors automatically close and lock at 5 km/h or above. This was the first (or one of the first) safety features to the door control in Germany. However, (from my understanding) there were some incidents or at least safety concerns about this "gap" of 5 km/h. Basically with TB5 you can still open the doors while the train is moving, below 5 km/h. The doors usually take a few seconds to release, so I assume it was more of an issue at departure (where the doors had been fully released before and thus was easily openable).

To counteract this they invented TB0, where the driver and conductor (the latter using a square key besides the doors) can send a jumper cable signal to lock all doors in the train. This is used to lock the doors at standstill before departure, hence the "0". The conductor signal is a pulse, so the doors can be opened by passengers after some time (~ 10 seconds iirc), so the conductor has to hold the key in the lock position if they want to prevent passengers from disembarking. The drivers signal is often, or always continuous. I can't remember how the white switch works IRL, I know it's wrong in the game but it's been a while since I tested any TB0-only locos in TSW. At least it has a notched position in "release" that is used on single loco operation to prevent the annoying announcement when decelerating < 30 km/h on some locomotives.

If the doors are released, they are released on both sides. If they are locked, they are locked on both sides. Usually passengers don't open doors on the wrong side ;) so that's where the simulation comes in to make sure that the correct side is opened.

*: Really old ones don't and maybe some new EMUs have a completely different system, I'm mostly speaking about traditional German coaches here.

now thats some nice detailed insight :) I wish this kind of stuff was eventually compiled into some kind of additional manual :) there is like a TON of information bits like this out there that one has to REALLY dig for... and since most of us arent real-world engineers/loco drivers, sometimes it can be hard to discern if some tidbit is a bug or a feature :D

so thanks again for clearing this one :)

didnt really notice this kind of stuff until BR182's doors on Hamburg Lubeck started acting up, prompting me to test all kinds of loco/coaches combination to see doors' behavior :D

I really wonder where the split-flap displays are that were promised to us for the route. It’s sad that they still haven’t made it into the game.

During this weekend, I was driving on this great route: Linke Rheinstrecke: Mainz - Koblenz

But after the last update, it seems something strange happened...
The Karlsruhe Kopf cab car, appears on the wrong side for driving it!
Which apart from being impossible to drive the train from it, ... it looks really strange

Have you tested it on other services too? Maybe its a onetime thing which was there before.

Also there are sometimes empty stock movements, which are just transporting stock from a-b, there this can happen.

If this would have something to do with the update, indeed very strange. Thats why its good if you could tell what services are affected.

    Thanks for your reply.
No, I did not run another service there.
It is not a timetable. It was a Scenario.
I have been doing one Scenario on each route I have.
All trains I crossed, I have the cab-car on reverse side.

I have no time to check it today.
If anyone can do it will be very useful.

This happened before in TSW3 when an update caused the Dosto Cab cars to spawn the wrong way round. Looks like this bug has happened again.

So would be good if somebody can confirm its just the one scenario or if the entire 24h timetable is affected.

Im away, else i would test it my self

Hi, yesterday I made a timetable on that route, and all the cab cars, where on the right direction. Backwards.

It seems it is a problem of the Scenario I did. It is the "Castle tour" - or something like that.
Then DTG might fixed only there.
Note: I have no time to checked on another Scenario.

Well, well. One gotta love DTG's legendary "patches". Fix one issue, generate three new and exciting ones™.

Can confirm the trouble with the cab car. DTG Alex

In this scenario (Castle Run) it happens on all trains driving down south from Koblenz.

    *SIGH*

Hi folks, thanks for raising the cab car issue and checking the details / providing screenshots, this is a big help for our QA team to jump right into action - I've reported a new ticket and raised it with our teams to investigate.

I could confirm only on PS5. Not sure if this issue applies also to PC and XBox...

Love the new track shadows on the route, though they seem to render a little weird. It's like the rails are floating so the shadow doesn't start from the bottom of them.
    upload_2024-10-1_21-58-13.jpeg

Still better looking than it used to, but I wonder if something could be done about it?

This actually looks very realistic, if the sun is low so that it shines at a flat angle and the ballast bed is not too high, so that the sleepers stick out a little more, it can happen that it looks exactly like this. Look at the shadow, it is very wide, so the sun must be very low at the time of your screenshot.

SIX MONTHS later, and no change. The LFR 110 is STILL unusable in Livery Designer

They will release a route, do one or two patches in the upcoming months, then completely abandon the rest of the issues.

The only time they fix old content is if it's somehow comes in handy for a new route - like the LIRR M3 getting fixes before the new LIRR Commuter release. They fixed issues that I have reported in tickets way back in 2020. I mean I'm happy that they are finally fixed, but is 3-4 years of waiting for bugfixes really acceptable?

So yeah, I would not expect the BR 110 or LFR getting any fixes either. Especially livery designer related stuff. There are old rolling stock that got LD functionality when the preservation crew was still around and some got the LD treatment with problems from the start. Only to be never get fixed, so they just gave them a completely useless LD update.

Though as it is now, the whole Livery Designer and Creators Club is useless, as substitution doesn't work properly (never did really) and the CC interface is just so bad that it's impossible to use it usefully. If you want to download as scenario, you have to spend ages trying to find the correct liveries it is using, as CC can't download them automatically... But of course search function barely works, sometimes not at all.

Did something break on the 103 in a recent patch?

Doing the Castle Connection or whatever it’s called scenario last night, after every brake application I was unable to get power back without tripping the transformer off then on again.

Thoughts, or is it me not doing it right - happy to accept it could be user error?!

On the 103, don't touch the brakes until the taps have spun all the way down to zero, otherwise you'll trip the breaker

At km 118.3 there is a section, especially coming from Koblenz, where the game tells you the limit is gonna be 120kmh. But it's a lie, and after a couple meters it's 100. The signals are correct and do point at a reduction to 100.

Can this fake 120kph section please be eliminated? I saw there was an update to LFR but this went unfixed.

PS: also, unrelated to this bug but, as I was travelling with a manually set path, and stopped right after here on the Rhine-side track, a 103 service pulled right up to my nose from the front....how?
