Good point tbh, there’s been a lot of beef between Kawasaki and LIRR over the M9 specifically. Both playing a bit of a blame game over delivery delays which have ensured that train shortages on the LIRR will continue for the next few years at least… lots of defects found and the state agencies are holding LIRR accountable for poor oversight… and then there’s the M9a rfp that I don’t even know if procurement has signed off on yet. Bit of a tense partnership there and it’s commuters and gamers who suffer the most lol With all of this in mind, I can’t imagine Kawasaki being enthusiastic to sign off on having the LIRR livery all over their train in a game
Please don't be too optimistic...... could very possible that they didn't get the licencing and this route will stay in the freezer for ever..... Its difficult story such licencing system!
So scrap the M9, put it in the fridge and build a DM30AC instead. Those were built by EMD just down the pike. Can always add the M9 later when the problem is sorted out.
Yes, given that he has probably done more tutorial videos than DTG have and is one of the few ambassadors with real railway experience, they’d be silly to dump him over a leak that we pretty much already knew about. Hopefully the only thing he loses is the right to make fun of JD about leaks!
Well if it includes something new, that requires a lot of development time and resources. Technically sehs wasn't free in that you needed to own tsw3. Same with other dlc that got remastered. Unless you bought the new game, you didn't get it
Only thing is, how long would it take to make the DM30AC's and the appropriate cars to go with them? People already know of the route, but does DTG have the reference materials and everything else to make them right now?
While I won't discount the theories, from my experience of contract law, I would think the most likely reason is really dull. Like one side in the agreement isn't happy with a part of the wording of the contract and it's been back and forth between lawyers for DTG and the other parties involved. Subsequently missing a spot in the release schedule. I've had settlement agreements, where all parties are happy with the terms but it takes half a year to get the various solicitors to agree to how one paragraph is phrased.
Hi folks, thanks to those that supported on my time of making a bad mistake. I'm not being dumped. DTG have been totally supportive even reaching out to make sure I'm ok. They're very cool people to work with. Paul
Why would the dump Trainsimulatordriver for this showing in his stream when JD leaked something in a stream and he still works at DTG?
It's not like the leak was major anyway, most of us already knew the non-announced US route was LIRR, just the details were missing until that banner showed up.
i think it is not really a problem because there was a lot of depot update that we can see for example with the TC that DTG make a new route expansion for LIRR and there was a lot of speculation on the next USA route
Its a fault that you make and will make in the future by other ones as well.... Where people are at work there will be make mistakes. No reason to dump you and if they dind't want that happen they have to prevent that. Very simple give no access. This is the risk by this system and if you give so early early access.
That is the forums my friend. There are people like you who have constructive and reasoned feedback and then there are others .
I wont mind M9, and I love LIRR as a route cos it has many possibilities in timetable mode, like London Commuter or SEHS has, that network feel... and I love that any expansion to that is welcome by me
Mixed thoughts about this one. M9 is fairly similar to an M7 from what I can tell, so will be more of the same, not that I mind giving the M7 a drive now and then. The DM30AC would be a nice addition, but at least we'll have most of the current LIRR stock and hey, more may be revealed when DTG can actually announce this? If they get the timetable right this time so Jamaica doesn't look like a ghost town (ditto for the Atlantic branch) and if Grand Central is included then I'm all for it. Plus the branch down to Long Beach will be a nice inclusion.
There’s a section in the march roadmap where they talk about how they are negotiating with the licenser on how they want to announce the route, according to Alex.
Trainsimulatordriver couldn't leak anything anyway considering DTG gave us a totally new tutorial module in the training center for either the M3 or M7. That alone gave away they were doing something with the route.
Spot on. In my experience, the amount of back and forth redlining to even get a boilerplate EL signed takes months - I can’t begin to imagine the amount of headache DTG’s counsel has had to endure in this (and surely many others) licensing dispute.
Exactly!!! Not having the third track feels so unrealistic. I'm glad to see the Long Beach branch, I was hoping for an extension to Huntington or even Ronkonkoma though, and even the addition of Grand Central. We'll see.
the licensing could be related to marketing advertisement with the license, not being fully sorted out, rather than the development itself, I imagine it may have came to a delay they didn’t foresee. though I definitely think it’s further along than the artwork
Not including Grand Central would be a bit of an own goal in my opinion - the line there is entirely in tunnel, so it's not like it would impose great scenery costs...
all this time waiting on licensing issues really leaves no excuse for a sub-par route. they really do have plenty of time to fine tune this route and get it right this time, especially the longer ambassadors have early access. the more time they have to collect feedback, the more time they have to implement changes/fixes. I expect no less than a smooth launch for this when the time finally does come. No more excuses.
First of all the question is of they will release this route.... This kind of problems will also result in a cancelt products.....To get a licence is a difficult process that can takes ages to get.....
It'll be very cool if the devs implement destination displays on the M7 and M9 EMU's, correct station departure signs and ASI announcements on board the M7 and the M9 EMU's
I cant really imagine that DTG would develop a route further if those Licenses aren't definitely secured. There would be too much risk to develop this route without being sure that it can bring in revenue. There might have been problems regarding this that held back the development maybe, but considering the route already being playable and actually having a Pic for it in the main menu, i assume thats already sorted. Of course just an assumption.
On which route/ train did this happen before ? I cant really think of one situation on top of my head. Not that it would suprise me but even if, they wouldn't do the same mistake again ? Or would they ?
Who knows I can’t imagine a perfect record of not repeating a similar mistake but this case may be different than before however. Pretty certain it was a BNSF route a while back, scrapped/fully shelved as far as I’m aware, it may be too old now to be used in a practical way (possibly GWE style route building technology etc), the name they said they wouldn’t say (possibly because it may cause somewhat of a backlash with no gain if people knew but I ain’t sure the exact reason it wasn’t named) they mentioned they were happy with how it was proceeding at the time but I’m not certain on how much exactly was actually done, it could have been ready to go or not in working order when it was pulled. though definitely shelved/scrapped otherwise they would have released it with the acquisition of the license if they thought it to be of release standard.
There was also WCL which was quite obviously supposed to be a GWR branded route, aswell as the scrapped EWS stock that DTG had (the wagons from that pack did eventually make it in, the 08 is still MIA though).
I have a feeling this will be the next US release. Considering its already in the hands of DTG partners it must be basically finished... I know they talked about San Bernardino making that seem like the "next" one but all they had was a model of the Metrolink MP36, not even any screenshots of the route. I feel like LIRR must be basically done and the release/announcement will come fast as soon as whatever licensing issue is sorted.
It’s a chicken & egg situation there, no idea which came first. Either way it was probably a missed loco pack DLC.
The BR 08 has been around for a long time (TVL), and it in turn was based on the very early WSR 09. Both much earlier than West Cornwall
In my opinion it's a marketing strategy, aimed at increasing the hype on this route. I don't think many people were okay with having two Metrolink routes, released back to back. In this way they try to make up for it. I hope they did a great job of updating and integrating. This route is very old and needed a major overhaul. I hope one day it happens for GWE too, but I think DTG no longer has the GWR license.
I'd really like an updated version of the LIRR. The current one is too buggy, on my last driving session on it I got a SPAD while going at the authorized 80 MPH signal speed because the next signal was closed and there was an AI train coming straight on my track towards my train. The Harlem Line is only worth buying with a discount because the M7A physics are botched and behaves like a rocket. A revamped LIRR route with an accurate rolling stock and fully working safety systems would bring some fresh air for the NYC commuter train enthusiasts.
The EWS 08 was an initial idea for a DLC for GWE, having largely built the 08, decision was taken that it probably wasnt an ideal first DLC so it was shelved. It was planned to come with a four axle wagon, that wagon was later shipped in the SEHS extension. Later we did WSR, and used the EWS 08 model to make the WSR 09. Later, we did Heavy Freight Pack for NTP where the 08 was largely rebuilt not sure how much of the earlier model remained but it was at the least quite substantial. Just wanted to weigh in on that part. No idea what all else y'all are talking about in here, sounds fun. :-D Matt.
Also on NYT, about a third of the way to NY Penn... At that point they gradually slow you down to 20 mph (if I remember correctly). Suddenly the emergency brake is automatically set and the convoy stops. Soon after the yellow light comes back LOL! So many bugs!
Does seem to have gone off on a branch line from discussing the (it seems highly possible) update and extension to LIRR. Which may well be going on my list for possible pre-order or Day One purchase as it's the closest we're going to get to a NYC subway route in TSW.
I got mine cheap, bought TSW 2020, so I got that one along with Main Spessart Bahn and such, for nice price... and since then one of my most played routes... does get bugged from time to time - like mouse moving on its own and such... usually solved by reinstalling the DLC not too often tho so LIRR 2.0 is welcome by me (along with Vienna U-Bahn )
