Train 811. AI is hitted me! After departing from Long Beach the AI train on side track start moving and hit in to my train near the bridge.
yup. You can't be late out of Long beach. That Ai train doesn't wait. this is what I wrote about that service,"Played service 811 (long beach to Penn). A beatiful early service that I highly recommend. Although I don't be late coming out of Long beach. There's an impatient AI train in the sidings that is eager to start his service. If you wait to long he will cause you to derail , trust me it happened to me twice. Coming out of Jamaica you have a 3 train race which is one of the things I love about the 2021 schedule. Trains depart Jamaica at the same time. There a short wait outside of Penn but basically you pull in track 16. a great run. .
I departed on time, but that didn't stop the AI from crashing into the 8th car (out of 10). I departed on time and was the only one who left the station towards NYP.
I apologise if this has been noted and logged already but there's something weird going on with the shaders on the West side of Jamaica, carriages going dark as if they were going through a short tunnel. I've also had train jams in Timetable mode, luckily you can remove stuck trains from the map nowadays. It's usually on the East side of Jamaica. Finally, do LIRR trains really pass signals at danger and creep-up to the back end of the train in front as they are doing in Timetable mode?
the first two issues are known and have been previously logged. Finally the pass signals you mentioned are actually stop and proceed signals which is normal procedure in LIRR https://youtube.com/shorts/vnxmamit0Xk?si=lKfbOC1o35JmKIOS
I tried this service and it worked for me. Does the derailment happen right away? maybe is a different service number?
Yes it happens straight away. Didn't notice there are two sets of C68 services, it is C68 Vanderbilt Yard - Atlantic Terminal (Part 2) @ 16:42 that has the issue. C68 Atlantic Terminal - Vanderbilt Yard (Part 3) @ 11:30 also has the derailment issue.
Thank you for bringing this up. I was able to duplicate both issues. I have filed Jira tickets for both services affected.
guuuuys any of you having issues with sensitivity of throttle / brake? especially on M9 (a bit also on M7)... slight tap of a key and you get big jumps in % of throttle, even more when braking
I remember this happening on Harlem, where on certain services I'd get stuck behind another train at a red heading into Grand Central, then after ten minutes of waiting the AI train behind me would rear end mine and derail me.
Train 2401. At Jamaica AI train(who is waiting for you to leave) remains the rear car on the switch. Guess what? Another AI ignored this minor obstacle and run through it. Technically, I support the decision to remove collision between AI trains, but if a player will performing this service, it would end as derailment.
Unfortunately, those of us who recall the state of SoS at launch have very unfond memories of all the AI SPADs on that route which would just terminate services because an AI somewhere else on the route ignored a signal, something completely out of our hands. At some point, when the AI services are causing issues, you need to take some fairly blunt actions to stop that, for the sake of everyone's enjoyment.
I had a derailment on train 725. I pulled in to jamaica behind another train standing in jamaica, and my last car was on the switches. AI train ran into it
Just want to thank the developers for this wonderful addition. I had pretty much given up on seeing any additional LIRR routes. In model railroading, it's well known that something over 80% of those hobbyists model the railroad that they grew up around. True for me. I built an N Scale LIRR for my son's birthday years back. This is way more fun, actually driving is king. Thanks again.
Does anyone know why the LIRR's whistle signal of long, long, short, long equates to the Morse code for letter Q?
One story is that it goes back to the days when the Queen rode the rails, so her trains would blast "Q" to announce that she was aboard, and then that became the standard "train approaching" signal. Or it could be just a quincidence.
I think we're talking about the same AI train - its 2303. Is it for the sake of optimization that the AI does not follow the signal speed restrictions, or did they simply not want to implement it? Cause when you arriving at Jamaica with 30 signal speed restriction and an AI train is overtaking you at supersonic speed - it breaks the immersion. Also some questions about 4 cars services(saw couple of them): - Is it AI only? - Is it regular passenger services or empty stock movement?
Here's a triple departure out of Jamaica. Service 863..... https://www.xbox.com/play/media/RuKvReKG7Y https://www.xbox.com/play/media/QxwTbDCTJK
3753(M3) cool service for those who loves to wait. But if dispatcher remembered the existence of the track 1 at Jamaica, then you would have arrived in NYP 3 days earlier.
Neither TSC or TSW have support for signal-applied speed limits. As far as the AI is concerned, all signals are either Stop or Go.
Unable to complete service 2815 Far Rockaway- NY Penn do to AI service 2813 going off path as it enters Penn station. is suppose to go to track 18. If I remember it goes off oath around 735/736am. If you spawn at 730am at Penn station you can see it happening real time around 735/736am. you then can delete and should be all good after. What happens if you wait to long the dispatcher won't be able to cope with all
I deleted it on the way to Jamaica. All trains started moving. All was good. When I arrived at the NYP, a red signal awaited me. I deleted all the trains on the station, but that didn't help. Also, the red signal in the other tunnel did not changed. As a result, both tunnels are stopped, but there is no one at the station.
just tried and worked fine. just need to delete that Ai train 2813 on track 4 (north tube) around 736am and should be pulling in track 18 around 807am
guys? anybody? any advice maybe? should I just try another keyboard or is this sth many ppl experience in this DLC ?
Bought this route a few weeks back I must say I'm really enjoying it plenty of AI which is good quite a busy route
Surely this has already been reported, but what if not. Train 873. Same track, same situation. AI train at NYP stuck on the switch. But this time signal was opened for player(after deleting this bot).
Yup already has been reported and is on Jira. Service Train 873 Long Beach - NY Penn.so the service that goes off path is an AI M7 train 2065(19:09) Ronkonkoma-Penn. Is suppose to go to track 19 but it goes off track as it enters Penn station north tube. It doesn't happen when you spawn at 1945,1950,1955 or any other service that starts between 19:45 to 1955 except for that service
I mean, I play lots of DLCs, didnt really notice this elsewhere... here it is like if I press the key a bit longer I am almost on max throttle all of a sudden ... same with brakes... I can play fine since I got experience, I can manage, just this is noticeable... havent tried playing with controller, I am used to keyboard and mouse
It seems to me that the devs simply decided to make it this way in an attempt to show high sensitivity of the controller. For me the only problem is getting into the third throttle position on the M3. I know that it’s not even needed there, but still.
aside from my other comments here, loving the new longer trains aka 12 car services ... it just looks so good when on 8 camera
I've been playing TSW4 for a few months now, and overall I think its awesome! I love playing it. This route though, with the forced safety systems is very irritating to me. It makes it unnecessarily complicated, distracting, and for me takes the fun out of it. If you play this on xbox without a keyboard hooked up you have to constantly look down at the acknowledge lever. If your cursor misses it a few times and you're late..... well you know what happens. (its annoying). If you use other camera views, you can't hear the warning so the same thing happens....every 5 or 10 seconds (damn annoying) of course you can hook up a keyboard (just found that out), and hit Q. So now I do that and it's only slightly irritating, but I don't even know what I'm acknowledging. I just hit Q over and over, and play like I used to ... which was to pay attention to the HUD and drive the train. When I go to the other views I have to keep hitting Q as I look around which I find to be unnecessarily distracting and irritating. Anyway, I appreciate the attempt at realism, but if it gets in the way of my enjoyment I'm going to find something else do. For me this is a fun escape from reality..... its relaxing..... its NOT work. I'm not planning on becoming actual train driver.
Sorry the mandatory safety systems are causing you irritation. DTG had no option if they wanted to release this updated LIRR, Metro North mandated it as a condition of license.
You don't need a keyboard. There is a button on controller which you press and it acknowledges the alarm. I think it's the circle, but im not sure since I don't play on controller. There is also a manual and multiple tutorials for you to master the safety systems which isn't too complicated to begin with. Like above said, it was a condition dtg was required to do in order to keep the license. If dtg doesn't comply, they lose the license and can't make anymore content which wouldn't be fair to anyone.
Thanks, I may look back into this route in the future, but for now I'm just too annoyed by it. I'm going to go back to playing the routes that I enjoy, and consider this a loss for now. I do appreciate replies, thanks!
Although i always run with safeties on, I must say i was quite stressed out with the american safety systems at first too. Generally(uk, de) they start yelling at you when you do something wrong. In the usa it is the opposite. It yells at you when it wants you to do something. It took me a while to get not stressed when an alarm goes off too. learning LIRR was great in this . distinguishing the difference between: - the alerter (very different sound with a lot of time to acknowledge) - ATC changes: put traction to zero and acknowledge, as it will brake automatically for you on this route.LIRR is very great for this -ACSES: just acknowledge and start to brake when you're up to it (really just go like 50% ) Although it seems hard at the beginning, just ""disable"" your safety systems by using them, once you understand it is very enjoyable (just do not run in the snow for eductational purposes) This route even has brought me back to trying my other (very neglected american routes of NYT and Boston-Providence where suddenly my most hated train, the ALP-46, became my most favorite one (with special thanks to MAX1319, JustWentSouth , Lamplight for the suggestions in the awesome service thread).
for me it is actually a good thing, I dont have to look for switches if I return to the route after a longer time
So when you guys play this route do you use the other camera views? also, do you follow the speed limit shown in the HUD? thanks
In this route you kind of have to stay in the cab, especially if your are not familiar with the signaling and safety systems. Once you learn it you can figure out how to manage it ,
yeah, that's been my experience with it so far. Hitting q every 3 seconds gets you so far, but with the HUD showing the wrong speed limit there is really no way to avoid the penalty shut downs. (it was showing 80 when it was actually 30) It's a shame to not be able to utilize the camera views. its nice to look around and see where you are. The windows on these trains don't give much of a view. It would be cool if there was a way to hear the warnings in all views.... and for the HUD to consistently show the correct speed limit. thanks for the reply.
sometimes I switch to camera 8 to watch the long trains fly by of course only when there is long section of steady speed
