    Don’t get discouraged. Is a learning process and trust me I was frustrated myself learning this stuff. But once you get the hang of it, learning the safety system, learning the route, you will then anticipate all speed reductions and actually be able to drive hurdles. It adds so much immersion and is rewarding once you learn and see how it all works. Any other questions please feel free to let us know.

    Timetable mode. Train 1702. I've chose June with light clouds(dynamic), but get a March with heavy storm. How?

    So you're traveling at 80 mph with an upcoming red. Is it normal for the ASC to post from 70 to 40 then 15? That seems to be standard in game, not sure if that's real life.

    Not a fan of it either. A while back I asked if it was possible to program the keys so that when I throttle up or brake, it'll only increase 5% max with each tap. Apparently it's not possible.

    Can confirm that this happens in real life a lot

    it only does this here as far as I noticed, but as for the sensitivity of keys, it is also different in Livery editor... I found nearly impossible to align some stuff there, then I tried turning on my Xbox One controller and using triggers/sticks for certain movements there, and bam... so while I use keyboard/mouse for most of stuff, in Livery editor/designer I sometimes turn on my controller when I need precise alignments :D

    I mean, I can live with this as long as I know ok, it is like that in this case and am not the only one experiencing the thing

    Basically all the signal progressions you see in game are true to life. Each area is unique.

    Big thanks to your huge contribution in the development of this route as well as the in depth videos and pdfs. When the original LIRR came out I was so disappointed in the broken signal system. Now 95% of the time I launch TSW, LIRR is what I play.

    I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed it but there are some AI Babylon services throughout the day that depart Penn Station with the doors open (For example Train 1158). I saw this while I started on foot at 6PM.

    Ok I think this is kinda rediculous how come I own the original Lirr that I bought back in 2020 and the new version isn't free? Like I payed for the old version in 2020 why can't I have the new one free!

    M9 + Long Beach branch is too much for the free update. But I agree with one thing - there are too few (almost no) changes to the original route to charge the owners of the first version the full price.

    Because the developers have to be paid somehow for the work put into the dlc. The m9 and extension and remastering the route with new signaling and improvements have a cost. You also have to account for the old trackage in the cost. It's not just an extension. It's old track + extension + train which makes the whole thing paid

    Don’t forget because of the signaling, you are able to have the 4th biggest passenger timetable in the game of 1,115 services when you include AI. Compared to 257 total services for the original LIRR. LIRR2 has Five branches, 2 different PIS systems, most playable US route in the game, most passengers only services in game between 12-5:59am. LIRR2 includes the 25 complete services: (Most in the game), also has another 18 service variation timetable services for a total of 43 different service patterns. 86 if you add the round trip. This route is not a liner A to B route. This route offers A to B, to C, to D, to E, and all different combinations. This route has some many Varieties and so many different services pattern variation that I’m still scratching on the surface to see. This is a route that many, including myself have been asking for the longest https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-level-coaches-with-de30ac-as-loco-dlc.70293/. We didn't the Diesel DE or DM30's ,but hopefully one day you never know

    Can you name them? Long Beach - 1, Hempstead - 2. OK, Belmont Park can be the 3. What else? Long Island City? Even if yes, then number 5 supposed to be the Atlantic Terminal?
    Let's be honest, Belmont Park and Long Island City can be ignored, while you count the numbers of branches. Of Course if you aren't PR manager.

    When I watched the preview stream on release for this route Brandon said there would be a patch coming soon , to correct some signalling issues coming into Penn. How come there has been no patch for this route ? As we know there are other bugs , and in other TSW releases there have been post release patches , so why not for this route ?

    I do like the route very much , and want it to function the best it can .

    Thanks Brandon , good to hear it’s submitted! Like I say I think it’s a great Route , but with a patch to fix some of the other things will make it one of the best I think .

    I remember liking the route, just had a bit of an issue with throttle/brake control being a touch too sensitive on keyboard/mouse :) (and the brake going from minimal to 30% with barely a touch)... which can be overcome in time being very precise, I guess... havent yet mastered the courage to try playing with an Xbox controller :)

    That's probably because min brake / power is actually 25% now on the new LIRR compared to 5% on the previous version.

    still, the throttle/brake control is quite sensitive, compared to some other routes

    Yeah, achievements in this game are definitely broken. Moreover from both sides: ingame and Steam.

    Guys, this route has been out for more than a month now and the game still crashes every single time I approach Jamaica. I haven’t been able to actually enjoy this DLC and I paid 36€ for this. This has to be fixed ASAP

    Guys, good afternoon. I'm facing constant crashes in the "Culting Down" scenario on the outskirts of Jamaica, I'm trying to finish this scenario but it keeps crashing, I'm going from save to save to try to complete it.
    I Play in PS4.

    I just want to give praise to this route again , having now played many hours on it , it’s really great! For anyone that hasn’t tried it , you should , but one really needs to persevere with it , dont get put off straight away with the safety systems . There is such great variety on the service patterns , it’s all I’ve been playing recently . Night lighting is also better than some other routes .

    One issue I hope will be fixed is the passenger behaviour, some stations don’t seem to have any passengers and sometimes your train is almost empty , but I understand this is a core issue perhaps .

    I would say 90% of the time. The most annoying thing - that's everyone disembark from the start. And it doesn't looks like a core issue, cause SEHS and Boston Sprinter(as examples) works great in terms of passengers.
    Once I saw a passenger(ONE REAL PASSENGER) at Mineola, but she's disappear when I get closer.

    I've tried it many times, but I decided that playing pretty much any other route is more fun.

    All true , I’m sure beta testers could not have failed to notice this , it’s very obvious I agree . Can only hope it will get fixed .

    Hi, these are my first impressions after having played 7 services/scenarios on LIRR Commuter, on a PC.

    Good things:
    • I really enjoy this route! I love subways, I love their security systems, I love US railroads. It felt awesome being guided by precise signals through the rain in very reduced visibility until reaching the butt of another train at Jamaica station in the Train 822 - Penn Station - Long Beach scenario, with a perfectly adjusted timetable!
    • The area in which to stop a train to get all the precision stop bonus is reasonably long enough ;
    • Varied exterior surroundings all along keeps it fresh with a visible NYC touch (green street signs, realistic advertising in stations...) ;
    • Very cool onboard touchscreen ADU (computer) with usable features (faults, ATC tests...) ;
    • Surrounding non-player trains crossing player path, departing before player, even at the same time as the player on parallel tracks;
    • Improved sounds compared to previous Long Island route and Harlem route ;
    • For some reason this route pushed me to disable the previewing of the upcoming signals on the HUD and to study all the signals meaning for the first time in my TSW career. Much more challenging that way, this is impulsing me with a renewed interest for the game.
    Improvable things:
    • 1) I feel it's a bit unfair that I get penalized (diminished Action Points) by surprise speed reductions from the ATC signaling when it comes as a full surprise as a result of dynamic traffic management and hasn't been announced by a visible signal beforehand. I seem to remember that, when I was playing US routes last year, the player was given a grace period of a few seconds to adjust to the new indicated speed limit before attributing a "driving [significantly] over speed limit" penalty ;
    • 2) In the same vein, I find it quite frustrating to find that posted speed limits are enforced by the security system at what seems like an arbitrary distance before the actual track speed limit. Sometimes the lowered speed is enforced 800 ft in advance, sometimes not before the actual track-side sign. Is this really how these trains work IRL? It seems absurd. No other TSW route behaves this way. (Even Harlem seemed more consistent in the anticipatory distance enforced). This defeats all the fun of dosing the breaking force to achieve the right speed right before a sign, it adds uncertainty and anxiety, it can prevent from arriving on schedule if player acts too cautious. Surely I can't be expected to learn all those arbitrary distances by heart. That's something I'll never do, and I'd see no fun whatsoever in basically driving from memory instead of looking for and reacting to signals ;
    • 3) I appreciate having a written manual, with the historical, but this one could have used some extra allotted time to be perfected. In the Wayside Signalling section (p.17), reference is made to Harold interlocking to define Zone A, yet Harold Interlocking is not shown on the map on p.5; I had to search the web for this. (Not an uninteresting search, but still...) ;
    • 4) The Wayside Signals section of the manual gave me a headache. The way it is presented makes it very difficult to make sense of it. I had to separately copy every signal description and paste it into a graphic document of my creation to give them a semblance of order (see below). And even then, the wording could have been finessed into plain English, as it seems only railroad engineers might be able to parse it. For example, I wasn't sure at all that I understood what difference is implied between "prepared to stop at the second signal" and "approaching the next signal prepared to stop". More basically, limited speed, medium speed, slow speed and restricted speed are not defined, I had to search the web for those. This section of the manual should either be wholly pedagogical, or be non-existent and the player simply referred to exterior resources ;
    • 5) Maybe also explain how to pass the ATC Daily Test if it's going to be a feature on the ADU ;
    • 6) I get lots of stuttering despite my rather high-end system (Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon 6900XT). I'll try to apply this solution, and edit this point if it solves the issue.
    • 7) Small bug: I get hit with "no wipers in rain" penalties when I'm in Penn Station and its tunnels!
    • 8) M7 locomotive: Is it normal that the direct brake is sometimes but not always released when I switch the control stick from Coast to Min Power, or even a bit higher?
    All in all, I love this route to the point where it pushed me to improve my skills. In fact I love it to the point where issue number 4 threatens to turn my love into resentment if I don't start understanding the logic of things.

    New-York City-style subways and their 4-lane tracks have something that I find iconic. I'd definitely love some more NYC routes done in cooperation with the MTA.

    Here's a layout of the 14 different signals that has them ordered according to type (horizontally) and speed limit (lower is slower)

    Look at the map - there is no tunnels. I mean look at the other routes: tunnels are marked on the map. Because no one even tried to do something with the old LIRR for the full price.

    Pertinent observation looking at the map, but,
    I find that way too harsh. It's just something that's been forgotten by devs and it will surely be fixed in an update. I've opened a support ticket regarding this.

    Believing is good. But we’ve been here for several years now, and we’re already accustomed to the fact that most bugs will remain forever.
    No offense. I want you to be right and I'm wrong.

    It feels like it's impossible to drive the M7/M9 in the snow.

    Whenever there's a signal downgrade, the brakes automatically apply. I can't tell which it is, but the brakes either apply so hard that they lock up the wheels or the brakes don't apply hard enough due to an anti-lock system -- but in either case, the trains don't make the braking curve, the brake assurance indicator does not light, and I can't silence the alarm before the emergency brake is applied. Every. Single. Time. Even with the Snow Brake set to on.

    I cannot tell if this is the result of the simulation being too excellent or totally busted. Anyone know?

    Still really enjoying this route . Does anyone know why Mineola station is completely deserted ( no passengers )? And also some stations near long beach ? Would be nice to have passengers at all the stations .

    I know it’s a small feature , but the 3rd rail sparks on this route really add to the immersion . Just did a service from Jamaica to Penn racing annother M9 and it’s nice seeing the train pass with sparks from the 3rd rail .

    Yeah, especially when sparks fly out on a section without third rail.
    This is one and only route where I wanna disable sparks, cause sometimes it's fly from air(no rail below shoe).

    Anyone else’s LIRR really struggling on Xbox series x? Very stuttery and juddery with frame drops. Also the inside of the cab, the text is shimmering and morphing….

    Also time of day(schedule) affects performance. At rush hour there is much more trains running which can cause a drop in performance.

    Hey, guys.
    What is the difference between this route and the old Long Island Railroad? I understand that this is a new redesigned route, but I'm just interested in its features.

    you get long beach branch and part of the montauk branch via st albans station. 625 time table services with AI you get 1100 services. compare to around 250 services with the original LIRR dlc, new M9 train,Update M7, new PIS, new signalling and cab signals, and many other new features

    I have same problem on SEHS. There are sections where the train has to slow down (from 225 to 200 km/h, for example), but they reduce my points by x0.5, although the permissible speed is not considered to be exceeded by the TVM signaling system. Maybe there are some flaws in the security systems and restrictions on the LIRR?
