Umm i own both TSW Classic and TSW 4 on Steam...

 

What do you mean by tsw classic? If you mean Train Simulator Classic that’s a different game. If you mean Train Sim World (or TSW2020, TSW2, TSW3) then the LIRR for those games should have come with you to TSW4.

I only ask as there isn’t a TSW Classic.

 

It's limited though, the new branch is only 20 km long.
You should have added with the Hempsead west branch or the Farr Rockaway branch.
That really makes the DLC quick and well done to bring in money.
In short, I'm very, very mixed about this DLC, it doesn't really provide enough things to do and there is of course still no freight...

30 euros for a piece of 8 km and improved lighting is too expensive.

 

I mean, DTG doesn't have the license for the freight operator on this line, so its not gonna happen.

Thank you Train9352, I have preordered on Steam and will also add it to my xbox as well. I agree about the extra extension in your follow up post, that would have been so good. What l liked about the route is that it looked so realistic and accurate. DTG are really coming to the fore now with their development and l cannot wait to see what’s coming later this year and next. Also it was great to have JD back on the stream.

 

I’m surprised, but I’m actually considering getting this, despite not really being into US routes.

It does seem that DTG has really stepped up the quality recently and I really like that it looked so busy - I have the original LIRR route and did play it for a while back when the M3 came out, but this really doesn’t seem like paying again to me. It looks completely different with TOD4 and the new timetable.

Only caught the first 45 minutes of the preview, so will have another watch over the weekend. Seriously considering a preorder though.

 

Yes of course I saw it and that's also why I'm disappointed even if it's not really DTG's fault and in any case we can create freight scenarios ourselves but...

The branch that goes to Hempstead West from "Valley Stream" is only 7 km, it would have been really nice to add it to compensate for the lack of freight.

In the preview stream we couldn't see much of the skyline of Manhattan unfortunately (as asked for in the preview Q&A thread).

One user posted this image with probably the WTC1 in the distance, but I couldn't found that pic from any official source. It's not attached in the LIRR 2.0 article. I guess it's from somewhere in the TSW discord server, but couldn't find it there either.


Is there a way to get some pics of the view on Manhattan's skyline in a later added trailer or something like that?

If I purchased the m3 today, will it get it on LIRR 2.0 or should I wait for a new m3 to release?

 

I don't think a new LIRR M3 will release. Not too long ago, the original LIRR M3 appears to have been updated, eliminating wheel blur and working with the current signaling for LIRR 2.0. I notice the names of the scenarios for the LIRR M3 are the same as the original LIRR route like "Metropolitan Mover" and "Ferrying Folks". As the names of these LIRR M3 scenarios are the same as the original route, are they different or anything new introduced with those scenarios?

Sorry for the question Matt, but will the M3 get an updated image icon on the store (like how the BR Class 52 did for the WSR) or will I need to buy the TSW2 compatible one?

Hey Matt can you explain why is it the M9 does not have alternating signs or reference someone who knows why? I know it's a small nitpick but I would like to know. I mentioned it on the Q&A forums. As the route is so close to release is it possible to fix/add this minor change?

 

I noticed that the platforms at Kew Gardens and Forest Hills haven’t been extended. They are now 6 car platforms. But overall really loved the preview stream.

They have zero plans to make a brand new m3. There's nothing on the roadmap either and it wouldn't make sense to make another m3 dlc

No conspiracy. Just like I can't rule it in, you can't rule it out. And no, I don't believe they'll do it in tsw4 time. But this release is testing the water for remakes of TSW DLC

 

If your suspicions did turn out to be indicative of anything, it would be testing the willingness of people to pay classic TSW prices to replace their TSW routes in a TSW sequel built from scratch in a new engine. But I still think anything like that is a few years off.

 

I have a S and I honestly don't even think it gets to gen 8.75 as apparently the One X was more powerful ( haven't seen any figures to confirm it though!) Honestly wish I'd been able to get an X but my one S decided to commit itself to the great silicone graveyard right in the middle of the pandemic when it was easier to find Lord Lucan riding the Lock Ness Monster than it was to get an X or a PS5 and of course now they're available my wallet can't quite find itself able to keep the money in it lol

 

It's not. the One X was always hobbled by the Durango processor that kept it firmly rooted in 2013 just with lots of memory to brute force higher resolutions. It lacked core functionality that most modern games require.

Compare a cross-gen title like Forza Horizon 5 with its 30FPS mode that the underpowered One X processor locks it to, with the 30FPS Series S quality mode. The sheer amount of additional foliage density possible on the Series S, and the improved lighting with softer shadows and more reflections, stuff that's just too much for the One X to handle.

Good news, the WTC is included! Saw a preview stream of "The British Ace" yesterday. What I noticed: in photo mode you can even see it at the train yard near Jamaica, while in game mode it is hidden due to the drawing distance. Sunnyside Yard also looks more convincing now than before, and the buildings here also have nicer facades. i.e. a LIRR remaster after 5 years is worth it. It would be great if the missing WTC skyline could be added to NYT.

 

Is it just me or did the old LIRR also receive improvements after yesterday’s update?
I got the impression that the lighting and vegetation along the route had somehow changed. Or it seemed to me.

 

Looking forward to this release as it really looks good, but cannot say I am as excited with a release, as I could have been, as this route is an addition to an existing location within the game. If it was a different location in America or a new route anywhere in the world, l would have been really excited!!!

 

I thought there was a discount if you already have LIRR?!

 

Not for consoles xbox and PS, it’s only for Steam customers 20% if you pre-order before tonight’s release otherwise it will be 10% after release.

 

Getting completely off the original topic but seeing the differences between foliage, I would wish there would be the option to adjust the amount of detail in the game settings and anyone could choose the value which fits best to their hardware ressources. And this for consoles, but also on PC.

With a better graphic card one would have the benefit of enhanced scenery.

I don't know how DTG would accomplish that in Unreal Engine, though.

 

It is always so difficult to buy from Microsoft Store. It took until 10.20am until it appeared online. Now downloading it.

 

PC don’t deserve the Sales to Pre Order, they have better Graphics and always cheap Sales

 

You know when you copy a file and the number of minutes it will take keeps going up and down, at work we call those 'Microsoft minutes' as they aren't tied to actual time. I think the Microsoft Store also works on those same vague timings as nothing ever appears when it should.

 

Blame PS and Microsoft for letting their stores be like that. Not DTG's fault Steam plays well with consumers when it comes to sales.

l believe that there will be a gamepass discount. I only play TSW on my xbox so don’t need or want game pass. You may have to wait awhile but l did hear that there would be a discount for GP users.

 

The Gamepass discount always comes a day or two later.

Well there is something I don't agree with

If you are going to give a discount for one, you should be giving a discount for all

And yes, I get that that is down to PS and Microsoft etc whether they do or whether they don't but you shouldn't miss two parts of your base out and favour another base with the discount

 

don't blame pc users for the fact that sony and microsoft are trash, it's not our fault and that's one of the reasons why I sold all my consoles and migrated to pc

 

I fully agree. I sold my Playstation because Sony has been too lazy lately to make new games, in addition to charging absurd amounts for PS Plus. Furthermore, I already had in mind that there are mods on PC that are restricted on consoles, so it was the best investment I made.
