The addition of the DM30 could probably come as an extension of the oyster bay branch assuming DTG figures out how to add extensions and if is demand for it

 

Questions I already asked.
1. Will the MTA Logo be available for use inside the livery Designer?

2. Will electrical sparks be featured across all rolling stock M3/M7/M9
3. How many spawn locations will we get in the scenario planner

 

1. With the new door controls, will TSW be able to automatically know which cars are on the platform and open only those cars like in TSC, or will they all open?

 

Just based off the articles.

1. No. It's set in 2017/2018 so I don't think you would see the construction.

2. No. Dtg have said passenger announcements are not a thing yet in tsw. They want to create something core rather than have it specific to just 1 train which means there won't be announcements until that happens.

3. No. The train doesn't exist and modeling it just for static ai would be a waste of resources.

4. From the article, it is static only at ssy which means there's no traffic moving in and out

 

Mostly because of performance issues like in New York Trenton.

You shouldn't be judging it that harshly until you've seen the preview and see reviews come out. It's either going to be the best thing out there or be the worst thing out there but you can't judge it before it's even out

 

A couple of minor questions!

- In the original LIRR route there were a few gaps in the third rail where the train lights might switch off (like in the M3) or the HVAC shuts off (like in the M7). Has this feature been carried over to the new LIRR Commuter? Has it been changed or expanded on?

-Will the locos included with the route have the light spark feature on the 3rd rail?

- In what ways has the scenery been enhanced? Do more buildings light up during the night compared to the original LIRR route?

 

Penn Station seems to be exactly the same as it was in the original. Apart from the Long Beach Branch, I'd doubt DTG rebuilt all of this from scratch and not reused some assets here and there

 

Please tell me why is it the original outdated LIRR route from 2018 is STILL going to be on the market when it is basically being replaced with this new and advanced route? To me that is a scummy, greedy and sad excuse to keep such an outdated and rip off of a route on the market for people to waste their money on when this new route is out that replaces it!!! I digress and apologize for the slight rant but this is just unacceptable. Pull the old route from the markets!!! and let those who bought it keep it, just remove it from the stores so no new people can buy the old route.

Now why is the M3 unchanged, at least go back and give it some treatment or update some of the sounds? The M3 is still a standalone addon which is fine, but at least update it. You guys update the route, M7 and add the M9 yet you don't update the M3 that is a paid separate addon.

Nice work Eddie your a legend!!! Always great to have a person who knows about the LIRR to help keep it faithful for the most part.

Why did you choose 2021? What were the limitations about why the route does NOT feature the 3rd track, Grand Central and Elmont stations. Explain why, because this boggles me why it was not chosen to be based in 2023 plus the M3 is still in service as well.

The old one is required for the layers on the trenton new York route. I don't think it would be easy to switch all the services to use lirr 2.0 as ai. Layers are set up in a specific way

 

Glad to see you're still active here man, but yea I always wanted to know why in the holy hell is that route STILL gonna be up there... I've already played that an abomination of a route since Christmas 2018... Who'd want to spend money on a literal insult to OUR Railroad. Worst Part is that the Original SEHS has also been delisted from the store when the new route came out for TSW 3.... Why can't they do the same. The original LIRR is now abandonware as of the announcement.

 

It would make sense to keep the older unextended version, but only if it would be sold for less price now.

In this way people who are interested but don't want to spend full price for the new extended version could buy the old cheaper version instead.

However I agree, keeping both versions for the same price seems illogical and could wven harm the business as it could confuse people and make them angry if they paid full price for the old version, while they wanted to buy the new version or just about to find out later that there is a different version, but refunding isn't possible anymore.

 

Do you consider route extensions to route extensions?

Double down on this one as well.

Are they any technical or financial limitations wehn doing extensions? How far could you built extensions to a route?

 

The lirr layer from trenton is from the old lirr since layers are tied to a specific dlc. Delist the old one and you get no layers. It's even mentioned in the preorder article

l have already preordered it on Steam but also play a lot of TSW4 on Xbox so if it looks great, I may decide to buy it again on Tuesday morning, but it will have to be spectacular to make me purchase it twice.

Yes I was a former employee and worked on the NYC Subway and LIRR branches of the MTA

 

Here is another question for the livestream: Will timetable be adjusted based on how we have to follow ATC and ACSES. Previously if we followed the safety systems we would be late at all the stations. This better be fixed for this new release.

You read my mind exactly what I was thinking. The old route is abandoned now. DTG will NOT admit it but we all know it is. Just delist it from the store. While I agree we could have more choice to buy the old route if it's cheaper. I don't see DTG doing that especially with how greedy they are known to be. But alas, I digress hope all is good for you!!!

Yes.

 

Overall very good stream, informative and very funny and helpful. Cactusjuice was awesome to see there and awesome to see extra help go into this and love go into this. I'm happy the LIRR is getting some love because it needed as it was one of the most popular routes in the original TSW.

I just have 1 nitpick: Why does the PIS on the M9 on the outsides and insides not show the car number like it does in real life. For example if we have a 12 car train and we are in the 3rd car in leading direction. The signs on the 3rd car would say "Car 3 of 12" then it would switch back to the destination. It alternates between car number and destination. Currently it looks like the M9 does NOT do this. Just a slight nitpick and I wonder why this it absent as I don't think this would be a hard change to add this to the M9.

Maybe Matt can help me out with why this is the case...

i watch the stream and it was so amazing. i love now the city vibes is actually there and talk about at night time view, its so amazing and speeechless. I don't know if they put 7 train R142 in woodside, but other than that the whole route is amazing. I want to thank all the people who work on this and make this version so much better than the old one.

Now all we need is a revamp of the Metro North Harlem Line, and i have a feeling that we will be see another extension to Stamford the Connecticut Line with the M8.

This is what the team should have done in the first place, but i am guessing there was not so much resource back then. Moving forward i believe this should be the new standard for all upcoming NA Passenger or Commuter Route.

I don't usually venture on to any routes outside the UK.

But the preview really sold it to me. It has a really nice busy feeling and really well made rolling stock. Looking forward to this and looking forward to the other American passenger route later this year!

 

They wouldn't model a whole new train to be ai only

 

What I would do is put passengers on the 7 line platform at Woodside to make it look busy up there too

 

Fife Circle has then though. It certainly does add to the route and hopefully this becomes widespread for passenger routes.

 

Really excited about the revamp of LIRR. DTG, please consider the DE30AC for a future DLC. I would love to run them down the mainline.

Please consider adding the scenic Oyster Bay branch with its diesel only services. Would add some variety from Mineola into Penn. Most of the route between stations is through forest so asset wise it shouldn't be as bad as urban areas. Boston Sprinter assets could be reused for most of the run.

One is made by a 3rd party and specific to that one train. Basically dtg explained if they were to do exactly by 3rd parties did, it would be unsustainable very quickly
