Yea some ppl r complaining that the colors are a bit inaccurate once the newly painted trains are out there on the tracks. It looks well in the editor but off in the game, but I really like that CN logo, nice work!
I see everyone is attempting liveries of existing railroads no matter where they are, this is another great example! Nice!
B&O, the predecessor of CSX, and I really like that “Ohio Heavy Haul” lettering under the cab (lol!), and that B&O font and logo are very well done!
Final 3 for the night. BNSF H3 AC4400CW Toaster Version test Denver Rio Grande GP38-2 (Never owned any IRL but we don't have the GP40-2....)
It was basically a combination of that sickle shape and the asymmetric teardrop stretched, sheared, etc. There's ten shapes forming that "e"
Not really, while I don't have that one anymore (So I could add smaller details to future autoracks) I was able to get this logo done in about 20 minutes.
Like your livery - looks great! Just wondering if you have any rendering issues when driving in the game and travelling at speed? (ie over 100mph) Reason I ask, my first set of liveries had a 100 or so layers, and in the stations they look great. But travelling at speed, my Xbox could not render them quickly enough (especially on the carriages). On the ICE, I would just see the front and back carriages, and a big gap in the middle where the carriages should be! I have fixed it by getting the layers down to around 20, which the Xbox seems to be able to cope with - even at 155mph! (but this obviously means I am going to struggle to produce complex liveries with logos etc like your great livery!)
will we have the possibility to share a livery as a file to other people in the future? I know its not the case today.
Well it could be that because I'm on a laptop so my settings are fairly low but up at speed it looks like this: It might also be to do with the red 'bleeding' into the grey but needless to say the DB unit on the back doesn't suffer from this.
I would recommend darkening the blue a little bit. The colors come out a lot lighter in the actual game than they appear in the livery designer. Other than that, it looks amazing! Great job so far.
I’ve been having a go at a DSB custom ICE 3M. To make it easier, I have used the most recent Logo, and the livery is very similar to the livery on the IC4. I haven’t bothered with any Lettering other than the logo on DSB. Purely because I haven’t the patience to sit there for ages to try and match the exact size and alignment for each lettering.
Great job buddy!!! Question for you: How did you get the hand rail attached to the front of the cab white? I've managed to get the railings at the very front white (next to the ditch lights) but the ones behind it attached to the nose (next to the front door) are the color of the body. Thanks
Did they order new tunnels as well? Not to be completely answering for someone else, but I did these on my CP AC (posted it earlier in this thread) as well and you have to toy with the projection settings a lot, be very really careful with the depth (a lot or fine tuning), set max angle (so the railing is covered from all sides, looks better) and perhaps use more shapes to cover the whole length of the railings, each next with a different projection depth to cover the railing and not the stairs, floor or the loco cab. The ones attached to the cab are also better done from the side view.
Thank you! Yup just like Monder said, you’ll have to use the projection and depth sliders. I think I also used more than one layer to get complete coverage. The white isn’t 100% wrapped around in a few places but its not noticeable.
Another go at a vintage Portuguese livery. 1000mm gauge DMU 9102 at Livração, Portugal. 14/03/2000. by Adrian Nicholls Portugués by ililo23 CP 0100 by Richard Latten
Yeah I just used a lot of the crescent shape, distorted and skewed for almost all of the parts. Couple of circles too and that’s it. It was about 70 layers for a single dragon still though.
Few more from me, I wasnt very happy with the logo on my Chessie GP38, so started again on an Sd40, really pleased with this one! I then had a bash at weathering it, unfortunately ran out of layers but almost got one side done. What do yous think?
That Amtrak livery is certainly interesting. Great job! The Chessie System logo is amazing! I can't wait to give it a go myself. I just wish there was an option to save layers or groups of layers to use on different locos, then we don't have to create the same logo multiple times for different engines.
Yeh I know it's such a pain. Iv been working on a Santa Fe AC4400CW today, getting those letters looking half decent has took forever, would be so good to chuck them on a gp38 or Sd. Will stick some picks of AC up later if I get it finished
After a few game crashes and lots of trial and error, I am nearly done with making a lightly weathered UP AC4400CW. I used the gradient shapes for weathering, but they look like a bunch of rectangles in the game compared to how they look in the livery editor. Making the logo and adding the letters inside the shield was probably the hardest part because the letters were so small that they looked a little blurry. I may need to change the gray paint later on since it looks a little too light when I am driving it, possibly because of the sunlight.
I tried this aswell on an SD40, looked pretty good in livery editor but was awful in game, it kept making the patches where I had put the gradients all blurry. I just took them off again but in hindsight maybe worth playing about with the projection settings to see if that helps.
Decided to make a Multi mark Canadian Pacific SD40-2, as well as a coal gondola to go with it. Struggled with the R and A in CP Rail though.
Tryed the Editer for the first time today, this is the result of 3 to 4 hours of work. I am a bit of a perfectionist so please let me know if I mist some details.
