Well having done the three Tinsley 20s with the unofficial river names. I thought I'd have a go at creating the fleet of Tinsley named 08/09 shunters.

There are 27 in total (25x08s & 2x09s) and most were named after local depots that Tinsley depot itself replaced but some are on other themes. I have a list of all of the names in a book about the depot and marshalling yard and after spending a night trawling the net for images of them all and getting a few more images from ex-staff members of the depot I've made a start on them.

Here are the first group of five which are still very much WIP at present with the layer count already at around the 400-450 mark for each one......

The Tinsley Rose on each side comes in at around 30 layers each but the data panel under the number on each side comes in at around 70-80 layers each as I’ve fully filled out the info on the panel.

The Tinsley Rose is a beautiful job, well done. The data panels are a pain, with there being so many letters. I hope you've done a generic one for the class, rather than individual ones for each loco! My first task in Livery designer is to produce a base model which has as many common features as possible - so for the 08s, this includes the data panel and the end stripes.
I hadn't realised that Tinsley had a shunter called Midland, (08434) as did Longsight (08686).

Yes I use most details between each loco.... I copy one of the existing loco's then change the name and various other details to create the new loco. The data panel is fully filled in with the correct info for the 08 so I only had to create it once before then copying it to the other side and it then being in place for each new loco.

I've made a start on the next three Tinsley 08s.... I've decided to create each one initially before then going back to weather and personalise each one in turn.

Really nice job there on those 08s. 08492 is interesting with the reversed nameplate colours and 'Wath ETD' is different.
Can I ask - what colour code are you using for your weathering?

    Hi Thomashill03,
I've noticed the weathering gradient too. Like you, it occurs in game, but not in Livery designer. For me, it is worse on larger items like Class 40s and 47s. 08s seem to be ok and 20s are at the limit of acceptability.

Cheers.... Yep there were a few variations with the nameplate styles used. (Reversed colours, With and without edging, Shedplate above nameplate or shedplate slightly on top of the nameplate, Tinsley Rose below nameplate or Tinsley logo below nameplate) There are also some without the nameplate style altogether which I'll be doing at the end of the run.

The weathering is just temporary at present to give me an idea of colours before i do the final weathering on each loco. But generally I use various shades of orangey brown with various amounts of transparency.

And the next few Tinsley 08s roll of the line........ These include the first to feature the "Tinsley Snail" as well as the "Tinsley Rose".

And then i've done two versions of what for a long time was Tinsley's pet shunter.... The Sheffield Station pilot 08691 "Escafeld" (The original Anglo-Saxon name for Sheffield). I've modelled it in it's last year or so of carrying blue livery and then it's first year or so of carrying green livery.

These two both come in at around 650 layers each and that's without final weathering and detailing!!!

After noting a comment about wanting more green diesels for Spirit of Steam scenarios, here are my first batch of BR Green Class 40s:

    Hi WaveyDavey,
The BR logo - or totem - is my own, made from 115 layers. It is version 2, as version 1 took about 190 layers! Thats why I'm stuck to only being able to do BR Green disc headcode Class 40s, as the centre headcode Class 40s will need their own totem creating, and I don't like to contemplate making another from scratch! Its not possible to save anything created for one class and use it for another class. If only we could upload pics to the Livery Designer. I have no need for christmas trees and dinosaurs on my locos, but a decent BR totem would be great!

Stunning work with that logo then. I know what you mean. I did a collection of NS locos last year so had to create the horse for the nose and then the horse head and NS lettering all from shapes. I then used the first loco as a template for the rest of the collection.

I'm currently creating all the Tinsley named shunter fleet and have done the same there with the Tinsley Rose logos and the various versions of them. Using 2 or 3 locos as the base for others that then use those same versions of Tinsley Rose.

And another batch of Tinsley 08s has been created...... As with the others these are all still WIP and I will be going back through the whole collection to individually detail and weather them. Included in this batch is my own personal favourite "Millhouses" which is where I grew up (Around 2 minutes walk from the old Millhouses Steam Shed).

Another few new details in this batch including a slightly different design rose, different coloured lettering in the Tinsley Rose, A normal Tinsley depot sticker placed in the middle of the rose and Civil Engineering markings included on various locos.

Not many left to do now before the individual detailing and weathering starts.

Beautiful work, that's a great collection of Tinsley Shunters. Just need an appropriate route for them now! I'm really been put off by comments that DTG will concentrate on modern routes and stock - there is such a need in the BR Blue (and Green) era. A decent 37/0 would be nice. Imagine the range of liveries for that, as long as they do split-codes and centre-codes. I think we need a 3rd party creator with a definite BR Blue bias!

A couple of new Class 40s in BR Green, this time D300 and D322, the latter of which only lasted until 1967 when it was involved in a serious accident and written off.

And now the final batch of Tinsley 08s have been created..... This final batch includes a couple that had totally different name styles with just the name rather than the nameplate style. And the only one that carried two names at the same time (One on each side).

I'll now go back through the full collection detailing and weathering each one before releasing them on Creators Club and TSC. I've also got the two 09s to do but as they are a separate model I'll do those after I've finished with the 08s..... And I may even do the 08 that has been given a Tinsley style unofficial name in preservation when I do the 09s too.

Should be proud of them, Waveydavey; excellent work. I think its a shame that BR Blue era modellers are in a minority here on TSW3. What we also need is someone who can create locos and routes! We live in hope.

Weathered the first couple of the Tinsley collection today...... Takes almost as long as each loco took to create in the first place!!!! Might tweak them again as I go through the collection but I'm pretty happy with how these first two have come out.

Because the game engine takes the mutilayered, detailed skin and compresses it down to a flattened bitmap at lower resolution.

Been a minute since I posted any of my creations. I made WAMX 4202 (which is actually a SD40M-2.) using the Sherman Hill SD40-2. I think it looks good. b21ea00c-9437-4a04-848d-6d5ffa0f1577.png 22343251-806f-4abe-a6f7-6004b0740dd1.png

As you'll be aware TrainGeek08, I've done Lady Di in Large Logo BR Blue. What we both need is a MK2 DBSO to match! There's nothing suitable available, but if ever a MK2d BSO becomes available on the Livery designer...

Yeah, a DBSO or something similar would be preferable, hopefully get some pictures of her soon ;)

Quick update on 4202, I have made the logo apart from the name that's on said logo. I might be done soon. 0cb1433a-91d3-4b7a-84b3-c2abcf09f4be.png
