Hello you. Just looking back at some old user likes on my thread as I’ve been away. And seen your post. You might find these interesting,,,as I tried these some time ago myself. As you will see I tried a weathered version,,but due to how those layers sit in the light (You get what I mean),,,it made them look worse than better. Working with the white doesn’t help matters either. Shame as there are very important locos,,but trying to replicate them in this game I feel with the light settings it just makes them look to bright.
Hi, I like your rendition of Lion. I rarely do weathered versions as I find it such a hard job getting it just right, and for some reason it always comes out very linear on my PC. There are some good livery creators on here who do such a good job. Keep doing what you do best
Thanks,,,yours is not to bad either. In fact on first glance I was like is that mine. They look the same,,,bar the rails on the lower body. And yes I understand where your coming from. We have spoken a few time in the past about weathering on this game. I’m on PS5 and yet still have those horrible lines that show up in the light. Makes it worse that during editing you can’t really see what’s going on or should I say the true reflection of what it does appear like in the end. The weathering was something I was working on before quitting. This one I’ll show you took hours and hours perfecting. Only to find in many different light settings it would keep ruining it. So it was never placed out. So yes I can understand why you stay away from them. Takes a lot of work for not much gain,,,except using a mix of weathered decals. But that just increases the decal numbers which then can effect what can be done on the main livery itself. A balancing act which again I’m sure you’ll be aware of. And yes there have always been great work on CC,,,credit to all that add. I miss it greatly so looking at doing like you say. Focus on mixing it up and doing my fictional work and what ifs. I’ll have to check more of your guys works out,,as like I say been away so be good to catch up with a few community members again and check their work out, A lot has changed and so fast. So yes cheers and you keep the good work up too.
Just a quick one. The name plates,,are they fixed or can you have the option to change?. I only ask due to some newer class locos won’t allow me to do this in the past. So when placing TOPs codes they wont match the name plates. I found it very frustrating as I’m sure you do after placing so much effort in making them realistic but then have it undone by a mishmash of Numbers and names. So yes,,great work man. Sorry to ask the question but just wanted to see if they DTG or Just Trains is it? changed it or even looking into it. Thanks in advance.
Thanks ! So yeah this Class 87 was made by JT, it’s 100% worth it. I remember the 47s from Blackpool having random nameplate in the livery editor, it was a bit complicated for making liveries. With the 87 it’s different, when creating a livery there’s no nameplate, I did all mines by hand.
Cheers. Okay that’s makes sense now. Basically something similar to what happened with the 37s. With a set TOPs code. I had to blank them out. Hence Blackstripe. And the 52s with the name plates showing up. So thank you this all makes sense now. At least if I have a go at making liveries again then I’ll have a better understanding now. Thank you. PS on Meds so a bit slow on the up take these days.
At least you got the colour correct....... I recently had an argument on a Facebook group with a guy that had done a 87006 re-skin but in dark navy blue because the couple of photos he'd used were slightly off and made the grey look blue. He was adamant he was correct with the colour choice and however many photos and links a produced saying it was InterCity executive grey rather than navy blue it didn't matter and he carried on saying that I was wrong and then he blocked me!!!!!!
Well my first re-skin for quite some time..... I got the TSW5 free upgrade when it was released but was in the process of upgrading to a new laptop so didn't bother going on TSW till I'd got the new laptop up and running over the Christmas period. So now that I've got everything installed on the new machine I thought I'd get a quick and easy reskin done. This one was one that always stood out from the crowd slightly with it's non-standard cab ends with full yellow marker light area when it had InterCity livery applied in around 1986. It carried this variation until it was repainted into the newer version of InterCity in the 90s. The loco eventually become well known again when it was transferred to Tinsley (Another re-skin with a Tinsley link) and carried a hybrid InterCity/Railfreight Distribution livery. It will be going up on CC at some point today.
OK....... I kinda did a thing...... After finishing 47525 in InterCity livery earlier today I thought I'd add a couple of Scottish stablemates to go with it. We have 47430 in a cleanish version of the ScotRail/IC livery and 47643 in a worn and faded faded of the ScotRail/IC livery. 47525 is up on CC now and I'll add the other two probably towards the end of the week or next weekend when they're finished.
Thanks ! You had an argument with someone on Facebook and he blocked you ? The opposite would’ve surprised me, I feel like people are too much sensitive and I don’t care to interact anymore because you know, some have quite a ridiculous reaction… I personally don’t mind when someone point out a mistake I made, or should I say I really appreciate the help. Finding the right color can be a little bit challenging in this game because of the various lighting effect of the game but also, colors look really different on the livery editor and on the routes. I don’t rely on one or two picture especially is it’s an old picture as the colors faded away compared to when it was shot, I always spend quite a few time comparing with different pictures to finally found the corresponding colors. PS: your 47s look great especially the worn and faded ones !
A couple more InterCity 47s finished today....... First off we have 47555 "The Commonwealth Spirit". For those of you not in the UK this loco was infamous because it always seemed to be absolutely everywhere in the country all the time leading to rumours there were more than one. As per the real loco this version of 47555 has larger than normal numbers, Unusually located (and BR blue backed) loco data panels and depot stickers, The remnants of the experimental second headlights on each nose end and various paint chips, blemishes and scrapes.
And the second one today was a personal favourite of mine back in the 80s as I was myself a member of the Rail Riders club. 47406 "Rail Riders". This 47 was the one every member wanted to spot and I did myself on a couple of occasions. Again as per the real loco this version has some differences in that the red & white stripes are placed slightly higher than others, Spaced out numbers, The loco still carries the bolts under each headcode panel that used to hold the old style depot plate in place and it also has the bolts in situ above the windscreens that will at some point in the future hold the NRN radio aerial in place. The plaque above the nameplate was a challenge but happy with hoe it came out.
One other livery I did this week..... Probably the quickest I've done as only took around 45 minutes. I know it's already up on CC by others but just fancied my own weathered version for my own use.
I decided to add a couple of versions of the second class 87 InterCity trial livery locos to 87006 that I had already done. So two versions of 87012 in it's trial livery and what would eventually be tweaked a little and adopted as the new InterCity livery. The two versions as can be seen are un-named and then carrying it's oddly placed nameplates. Probably not going to be going up on CC now but rather elsewhere instead.
Probably the last 87 I'll do unless something unusual pops up in a photo..... A friend of mine used to love this loco so I did it in the style it was when the route was set.
The full set of four now uploaded to CC......... Boy the game looks different without the scenic mods running!!!!!
This weekends projects...... It's not the best early model to work on in Livery Designer so it's never going to be spot on but I liked the individuality of this particular loco with it's upteen different numbers around the loco, painted white embellishments and even the single newer overhead wires plate on one nose (Can you spot it?). I've done two versions of her one with the embellishments (White windscreen surrounds, white lamp brackets and partial white cantrail stripe down one side) and another without them in plain blue. The actual loco didn't have discs by this time but that wasn't an option unless I left them plain yellow when opened and that just didn't look right IMO so I've given her a couple of white discs on each end.
