Don't ask why I'm suggesting this, (it just came into thought..) but yea London to Hereford. This goes past another terminal which is Worcester so we have an extra terminus for services. The units on this line is quite simple. Adding one new train from GWR, that is the class 800 IET. Every now and then a class 166 does go on the line to somewhere else but the class 800s are mainly on the line. This line does have industrial and countryside nature, this makes it feel like a proper UK route. This line does go through the current GWE line so we could add AI services to Slough or we could add this route into it. I'd like it as a separate route but still have AI service go slough. So what do you think? I think this line is pretty good from what I've heard and I'd love it on tsw4 like how I'm pretty much begging for the airedale-warfedale line on.. Anyways, thank you for taking time to read this and do comment on what you think of it.
I do think another section of the GW would be nice, though this isn't what I would go with personally. I must say though, you are very ambitious!
Far too long in its entirety for a TSW route. Oxford to Worcester might be a possibility, but unless set back in BR days the only operator on the route now is GWR who won’t renew the licence with DTG.
Or even Oxford to Great Malvern, which would allow layering of WMR/Central Trains if we ever get any of their DMU’s. In fact interesting anecdotal fact. There was a period in the late 80’s/early 90’s when Regional Railways was the primary operator from Oxford to Worcester and Hereford. The Paddington services were limited to the peaks, morning in the Up direction and Down in the evening. During its tenure under Western Provincial, services were mainly diagrammed for Canton based Class 155’s, which was a complete PITA when those somewhat less than reliable units conked out and a fresh set had to be inserted in the working.
I would have upgraded the current GWR to present day, fixing the bugs, and extended it to Heathrow, Oxford & Swindon.
I'm sure we have West Midlands licensing so we could do WMR. As we have Bromsgrove-Lichfield so if it's the 170s or the 196 (I think that's what they are.) Then we could add that.
