Now that this is the final Rush Hour route to be showcased and released, I feel now is the perfect time for us to get our questions in for the upcoming London to Brighton route. Ahead of the first showcase.

    Questions:
    - What year is the timetable and route set it?
    - Will Southeastern AI trains feature out of London Victoria, for those that own SEHS as well as the Class 465 DLC?
    - Will the GWR Class 166 feature on this route, to drive between Redhill and Gatwick Airport/Reigate, for those that own GWE?
    - Have DTG managed to obtain new sounds and recordings for the Class 387?
    - Approximately how many services are there altogether, including AI only trains?
    - How many ‘off the world’ destinations and services are there included with this route?
    - Will we see ECW and WCW AI services from Brighton?

Any questions you may have, feel free to comment down below.

    1. - Are Southern's Metro services included to drive using the 377/4?

    2. - Will the 377 destination boards correctly display two names simultaneously? In this example I mean services which split later down the line: Portsmouth Harbour & Bognor Regis etc.

    3. - Will Hove be included, if so, can we drive the Brighton-Hove shuttle? If yes to the previous, will the 313 be eventually layered onto BML for this service along with AI moves on the ECW and WCW out of Brighton?

    4. - This question relates to if we have Metro services (see Q1). If London Bridge to Tattenham Corner services are included (driveable to/from East Croydon), will Reedham and Coulsdon Town stations be included? For instance, these stations are adjacent to the BML - between Purley and Coulsdon South - before the line turns off to Tattenham Corner.

Will there be any railtour services, perhaps even using the Class 33 that's currently limited to only one route?

Probably not. Modelling stations is one of the hardest parts of making a route, Coulsdon is a detour from the Brighton Mainline. But Reedham can be seen easily from the mainline, so I would imagine Reedham station would be represented.

Have you Simulated the Class 387s dual voltage functionality? Could we have a demonstration?

Looking at the map - would that be a service including a cab switch? Seems like they need to change directions in Redhill, don't they?

I can confirm Londonmidland is NOT, I repeat, NOT the CEO of DTG. Thanks for your attention.

My question is: Will we have rolling stock substitution active for other routes with BML rolling stock?

The problem with this thread is that it is in the PC forum (obviously because we can’t start threads in the Dovetail Live Article Discussion forum).

I suggest, for the sake of all users, not just PC users, we wait until DTG set up the official Q&A thread when the route is ready to be previewed.

    Massive long shot I know…….

Are the NSE clocks included at London Victoria?

I think they are still there but stand to be corrected.

It would make sense to have them given they are visible from the main line, and also am I right in thinking that some services terminate at Coulsdon Town too rather than going all the way to Tattenham Corner? So it would be a sensible location to model.

My two (well, three) pence - what freight services are likely to be included and will this include the Ardingly spur for aggregates?

Are there any improvements to the 377 and if so what are the highlights?

What sort of service frequency can we expect on the inner London stations?

If they aren’t, then there’s some hope they could be added via a mod providing the actual asset is there and assigned to London Victoria. Though I appreciate not everyone can access mods.

I would assume that it’s the exact same as the 377/4 from ECW, and that no changes have been made for the /1. Though that’s purely an assumption.

Not sure if they're upgrading the 377 in any way, but Matt already said there's no special model for the /1 (which implies to me that not all /1s are represented, as the headlights changed mid batch).

Will the recently released AP sounds be used for the 387 (assuming they've reached some sort of agreement)?

How will stations that are only serviced by Thameslink off-peak function, like Salfords and Earlswood?

Will all of the supposed improvements that will be done to the 377/4 on this route be added to the 377/4 on east coastway since they are the exact same train?

Big question what makes this sufficiently different from every other London centric route released so far to warrant the casual fan to purchase it? I mean I'm fully hooked and already got this via the season pass but had it been a standalone route another EMU radiating out of London/Brighton wouldn't really have drawn me to purchase at full price even so. It just feels a little samey to me.
Boston was brand new to TSW2 and gave me to drive US high speed rail, Riesa Dresden promised me 5 drivable assets on a busy none high-speed German commuter service with a mix of express services and freight thrown in(whether that delivers is currently hanging in the balance and the preview streams and by Matts own admission is that on release that may not be the case). Brighton Mainline just isn't feeling me with the same anticipation and excitement.

Obviously this is just my own personal view and YMMV

I would’ve thought so as you pretty much NEED Redhill to feature in this route.

Just to clarify - PROPER SDO. Not the sort we currently have, where it’s either the front 4 or all doors only.

Bearing in mind that this is a Q&A thread, do you know this for certain or is the word “probably” pertinent. if it is, this is not an answer to the question.

I'd like to know which platforms at Clapham Junction will see trains (drivable or AI) and whether there'll be anything in the yard also.

I'm guessing it'll only be platforms 12-15 that will be used and the yard empty as there's no suitable train in game currently which is suitable AI but it'd be good to find out for sure.

They use platform 0 if I remember correctly.
Am I right that Platform 0 stations are quite rare across the UK (I know Rainham has one)?

Yes this will be included 100% as Reigate services go via Redhill which is only accessible via the slow line. To the southern end of Redhill for example, the four-track line diverges with the fast line (called the Quarry Line) branching off before rejoining further north.

I respect your view, and I would feel the same if I didn't know the route. For a local, and I admit, am a bit bias, like probably a few other members on here, BML for me is the most exciting route to ever be released on TSW. The route is one of the most iconic in the UK and, if done correctly, is one of the busiest in the country with timetables running at Rush Hour frequency most of the day. You have some of the busiest stations in the UK, such as Clapham Junction, Victoria, East Croydon, plus you'll have other large stations like Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath and Brighton along the way to name a few. Additionally, some fantastic landmarks will be seen, such as Battersea Power Station, Chelsea Bridge that goes across the Thames (both in London), plus the stunning Ouse Valley Viaduct in West Sussex. Additionally, again, if services are included properly, you'll have a high variety of service types, including fast and slow line options, long, medium and short services (such as down to Brighton, Gatwick and inner-London metro services respectively) and the future DLC options are another area of excitement with the Thameslink Class 700 and Southern Class 455 etc. Don't forget extra layers that may be introduced onto BML from existing UK routes such as the GWR Class 166. Just a few things that get me excited. :)

Further to the points made above about why London - Brighton is exciting... for those of us who have been playing train sims for a few years now (to say the least), I remember London to Brighton as being one of the first quality add-ons available for MSTS. So there's definitely an element of nostalgia for me personally (as well as the fact that it's close-ish to where I grew up - DTG, if you're watching and want to do Sutton and Mole Valley lines...)

    1. Because this is DTGs first full length route for TSW end to end. Can and will this be a basis for expansion, I think it’s been asked enough. The pace at which it has been coming seems good because hopefully it is a fulfilment on launch.

    2. I don’t want to hear expansions will never happen lol

    3. Back on topic, destinations, can the interior passenger screens scroll like the real life counterpart. They’ve got the PIS screens spot on so far, for East Coastway. The 377 is unique and 387 has two lines to display termini. Realism is a factor, also. Sounds, hopefully the sounds are authentic.

On a forum where anyone can answer... Yes the "probably" means "to my mind", but still...
I think there are seven. Geoff Marshal did a video where he visited them all

I was basing the definition of ‘full route’ as terminal - terminal

Ah then there would be nearly no full routes in Germany with that definition. As we don’t have many termini.

By that definition Brighton - Eastbourne would be a full route, despite many services reversing there and advancing past the boundaries in TSW.

HBL is entirely self contained, apart from IC, ICE services. The RE and RBs only go past Lübeck on the weekends.
