When attempting to slow down the M8 due to a lowering of signal speed, I've noticed that if you are already braking when you pass the triggering signal, the overspeed refuses to clear and the brakes will still apply until the train comes to a stop. If you coast into the overspeed however, once you get below signal speed, the overspeed will clear, allowing the brakes to release and power to be applied. I tested this repeatedly on the New Years Resolution scenario. Approaching Mount Vernon at 75MPH, I applied minimum brake for upcoming 60MPH reduction. I then get an overspeed warning and a signal speed of 45 MPH. Applying maximum brake, I can silence the alert, but the overspeed on the dash does not clear below 45MPH and the brakes refuse to release. If I coast at 75MPH into the 45MPH signal speed, I can then apply maximum brake, silence the alert and clear the overspeed once below 45MPH and then apply power. Is this behaviour correct?
