So in future it is ok to have wrong PIS spelling? OK, noted!

What is wrong? Their is an obvious spelling error in the PIS and I asked for it to be corrected, it already seems to be corrected. So what is your problem with that?

 

Hot on the heels of BPO, the Steam Black Friday/Thanksgiving sale next week and the huge SimRail update incoming on Tuesday, sorry but another short bus stop German branch line with modern DMU is going to be sale time fodder at best for me.

 

Yes, I too will be saving my money for the Steam sale. Simply don't need yet another " red box " commuter train at this time. Doesn't seem to be anything unique or different about this route. Maybe in a future sale?

I think this will be a wider problem for DTG going forward. The game is now awash with content and they are really going to have to start bringing in significantly fresher air, whether in terms of iconic routes or traction, not the same old formula. That’s not to denigrate those working on the projects but even though I travelled a fair bit in Germany over the years and played a fair share of Zusi 2 I’ve never heard of the Maintalbahn before. And the 642 DMU is tainted by memory of the very poor implementation in TSC on Kiel to Lubeck where each power notch simply acted as a basic speed setter with almost instant acceleration, too.

 

But it is indeed fresh air - it's DTGs first german one-track Diesel route. And yeah, the TSC version is a horror. But all DTG locos in TSW are miles better than DTG locos in TSC. Even since the very first BR 146 in TSW, it was already so much better than their tsc 146.

 

Well I will watch the reviews but at best this is going to be a 50% off in a sale purchase and only if there’s no other higher priority.

 

Using RSSLO's excellent 642 Desiro, it's a great experience.

 

With German stock being tightly restricted to technical information, how is this going to be possible to find such information for these units? (How to start when systems are not in ready state, how to restart after emergency shutdown, etc) I have had problems with locos not working after following exact instructions. I have found more information to be secretive since I posted a comment on a YT video about one of these not starting as they are shown in the video and another person replied stating I should not be asking technical information about them. I have seen full instruction manuals for class 47s online which are still used today and the operators or the manufacturer (Brush Traction) also don't seem to mind either. Yet it seems to be hard to find any information about any trains from mainland Europe or EMD (same issue trying to find information on the three valve induction setup in 645s).

Edit: I am rapidly losing interest now, I don't know why I asked about technical information in the first place.

Yea is a pass for me. doesn't interest me at all. very boring, Was actually falling asleep. So passenger seems to spawn right at the platform and disappear from platform. Doesn’t seemed to be getting any better. To be honest they didn't do a good job trying to sell it on the stream. just my opinion

I have all the German routes. They are my favourites. But after that preview stream, I‘m borderline cancelling my pre order. A bland looking route that wasn’t presented very well. Sorry just found it completely uninspiring.

Maybe I‘ve been spoiled by JT and the absolute enthusiasm for their product. This brought me back down to earth.

Edit : Watched the stream again. Reluctantly refunded as I was looking forward to this. Will wait until the train is layered in to something better.

 

Well, the executive producer once said if you don't like it, then don't buy it. If this is gonna be the 'bar' DTG set, then they won't have anything to sell soon...

 

I still think they should of just updated MSB and added some new loco DLC for it! I never understood why Maintalbahn was chosen as a route choice considering how very similar it is to Niddertalbahn i.e. a single-track DMU branch line near Frankfurt, which also features a 628 and 365/363.

I would like to see some more interesting routes, anything with Berlin would be awesome. Or something completely unique for TSW like the Hamburg S and/or U-Bahn (see pictures):

I wasn’t expecting much in the way of excitement, but the route looks very dull. Hard to see me buying this one for anything other than the 642 if it ever layers anywhere, and that would have to be at a significant discount. The 642 didn’t seem very well done - overly bright interior & soundset was meh.

It was always going to be tough for DTG to follow JT’s act with BPO, but I agree with the above sentiment- it seems asif they didn’t even try.

DTG would of been much better off with adding some extra dev time to this release slot & doing something else, or putting more effort into this route, even the suspension would of helped quite a lot with it.

Even stuff like Glossop line, another route there to fill a blank spot in the schedule, was done well. This one has fallen flat IMO.

I am so disappointed that despite the original recording of the train, the train in the game just doesn't sound like the original at all. The sound above 70 km/h is actually quite ok, but especially when accelerating from 0 to 20 km/h it is not at all true to the original. I hope that this will be changed

 

What was the clicking/blinking light in the cab during the live stream?

Early in the stream they mentioned that rather than copying Aschaffenburg from Main Spessart Bahn onto this route, they rebuilt it so it'd be up to modern standards...

Where was this mindset when New York-Trenton was being built?

 

I caught a bit lof the live stream and it was just all german talk for 10 minutes so I turned it off thinking it was a german language stream.

Do they mention why its a blue shunter instead of the red one?

 

I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to German trains and routes, but everytime I see new German content, it looks all too familiar to me. Hard pass from me. Like others have said, probably will pick it up in the sale at a later date.
I’m still having too much enjoyment with the Blackpool to Preston route right now.

It was an interesting experience for me as a German. I get why they did it, but I don’t think it was a terribly clever idea to have most of the stream inaccessible to non-German speakers. Especially since Lukas even teased some new content for next year in German.

 

Well…. Route looks boring, bland and very unfinished, needs more lineside vegetation and clutter, it looks to clinical and clean, the sounds leave a lot to be desired, where’s the 204? Where’s the containers in the dock? Joined halfway through and from where I joined to the end it was mainly all in German, for someone who can’t understand German (I can but only a little) it must’ve been so boring to get through. Also seems the classic dead traffic stations have returned from glossop

 

Got to agree fully.

Some of the scenery/lineside textures looked straight out of 2015 Train SIM Classic.

Interesting to hear they "knocked this up quickly over the summer as most people were on holiday" remark made on the live stream.... It shows!!!

 

I think you're confusing the 642 with the 648 there (the Kiel route had a 648 )

It's a shame Matt had to be on mute as he's a much more upbeat presenter, the most positive comment from the whole stream was when he chimed in with "that was fun" at the end of the first timetable run.

These guys are really bad at marketing, we got somewhere with lots of tracks only to be told there's nothing on them because we're doing a service in the middle of the day whereas they would be full at each end of the day - why on Earth didn't they do a service which would have shown the route being busy?

I don't mean any disrespect to the guys who presented the stream, they are experts at their core roles, but they shouldn't be the leads on promoting something. I watch a lot of F1 and Martin Brundle is an amazing commentator, but year's ago the BBC tried making him lead commentator and it was awful, you need a David Croft (well, preferably Alex Jacques) to lead, the experts should be there to add key details.

I don’t really need anyone to blow fireworks up my channel tunnel, but I agree to a point that some more talking about things should of been going on (maybe it was, however I don’t speak much German).

Lucas is great and very knowledgeable & doesn’t overly rabbit on about irrelevant topics, which is an issue I find with other particular members.

Jan is clearly much more comfortable speaking German than English, it was like there were 2 version of him last night. I don’t have an issue with it really, just means for DTG that non German speakers get excluded.

 

It was such an odd decision to do most of the stream in German to me. Who was the stream for, actually?

• Those not speaking German barely got more than rudimentary info and driving footage.
• Germans not very fluent in English likely didn't tune in to what is usually an English-only stream.

I feel like if DTG want to expand more into the German community, a dedicated stream would serve everyone better than this mix.

 

I think I have to agree with many voices here that the route didn't really catch me. The new DMU doesn't interest me all that much. I think the route would have been a good opportunity to get a larger diesel loco in for freight like the ubiquitous V90 or a Gravita.

 

So I also found the route a bit boring, but I tend to see it more like a Loco DLC (642) + a route on top. So let's say 15€ for the new train and 15€ for an "okay" route.

I really hope the 642 will sub into BRO and replace the 612, as it is the "correct" train their.

Lukas and Jan told interesting things in german yesterday. I understand why people maybe a bit upset by this. But that brought me to an idea, why not make an AMA or a Q&A stream every few month besides the regular roadmap updates with different content teams? So like Lukas and Jan for example for the german community etc. Just a thought.

 

Didn’t Lukas mention this would be cheaper than a normal DLC? If it comes in at £19.99 I’d say it’s more reasonable, once it has another reason to purchase (ie ties into a future route).

 

Was there anything mentioned about this? For me it would be the only relevant reason for a purchais, since i would not touch this until a heavy discount. Especially after the feedback, but havent seen the stream yet.

The only thing I remember saying was 642 would be able to sub in Chemnitz route. unfortunately they didn't have the 628 installed so it wasn't shown

 

If it had subbed into BRO, then that would have elevated my want to get it quite abit, hopefully DTG will do something on this front and ‘tick the box’ on BRO so to speak.

If the 612 is subbing into this route, but it’s not happening the other way around, then surely that can only be oversight or there’s an issue with BRO.

 

Why is the BR 204 completely absent considering it was a DLC for MSB? Please an explanation from the developer not from some random person with a theory...

 

I have the same question about the br204, in the chat during the it was asked a lot. Also in the q&a, but no official answer.

 

I would wager that once the freight services had been made, if a BR 204 substituted in it caused issues on some services because it is a longer loco, and that’s why it isn’t included.

 

Same here, I turned off the stream because of all the German talk. On these forums it's not allowed to use anything but English, but the official preview stream had large parts in a language most of us don't understand.... I'll catch an English spoken review vid once it's released...

Must say I liked the preview streams better when it was Matt driving and doing the talking and explaining. I hope DTG will return to that form in the future.
