From what I’ve noticed the station signs definitely look better than Boston to Providence, they still aren’t exactly accurate as they only have the station name on the top and are missing the name on the bottom part (see picture), this pattern of having the signs on both the top and bottom is something unique to the MBTA and is seen across all subway and commuter rail stations, but it’s still an improvement IMG_2741.jpeg

I also noticed the in-game fonts on both the locomotives and the station signs look a bit off, is there a reason the standard real-life Helvetica Neue Bold don’t couldn’t be used? I noticed this with the prior NJT route as well. Is it a copyrighted font?

I noticed more mixed consists and less all-single level consists in the recent article. A step in the right direction! The CTC-5 Cab Car looks great as well on the inside, and I'm glad we will get functional interior screens (in the video you can see "NEXT STOP:" scrolling on the sign).

I really wish flag stops could be implemented in this game, they are in place on the Worcester Line schedule for offpeak/reverse peak trains at Newton stations & for most stops on early morning/late night trains.

Mind you, ballast often doesn't match the surrounding ground. especially when it's new-ish and hasn't collected much local dirt. In most cases it was quarried miles many away and hauled in.

I love the route, I’m glad the F40 received some extensive upgrades, and sounds… but about the sounds. Is there a reason why the F40 doesn’t have new sounds for the Prime Mover, and instead using the Reused and old sounds from the Caltrain F40? Everything else is new, except the Prime mover, a little confused on that one

I just really hope the new trains and sounds back ports to Boston - Providence route at some point. Be nice the see the same variety on that route.

The prime mover isn't the issue, it sounds enough like a real EMD 645 would, its the CAT HEP Generator that's really off, our F40s have a very loud, powerful sounding HEP generator that is louder than the prime mover when in idle. In-game the HEP can barely be heard.

Yes, I'm used to hearing that HEP sound on my local commuter F40PH and MP36PH locos. It isn't well separated on San Bernardino and, if it's missing on Boston- Worcester, that would be one more reason for not buying that route at launch.

I’m on Xbox series s and I have every freight layer except horseshoe curve installed, yet there aren’t freight layers. Now I was told that they were layers on series s.

The route is great. Thanks for putting this route together. I just one question, in much of the literature about this route prior to release it states that the new route hopping feature would be available between the Boston Commuter Route and the Boston Sprinter route. I can not find the route hopping icon anywhere at the Boston South station. I am running the PC Steam version of both routes. I am missing something?

Just to clarify - there's a good reason that those sound files weren't used. They don't match up with the Simugraph configuration from the Caltrain base setup, MBTA's are configured differently (RPM settings etc) and we've been waiting on that detail. Using these sound files with the Caltrain setup on the wrong RPM's is going to sound odd at best imho.

    Matt.

So currently the engine is configured based on the Caltrain variant, because you have no data on the MBTA's setup yet?

Anyway, the sounds that are new are great. The horn is pretty cool, I also really like the compressor sound.

But I wish the brightness of the headlights and the indicator lights in the cab would be adjusted. Everything is too bright with the F40.

Is there any chance you could implement the new sounds to the BW and BS variants when and if you guys receive the data you need? The new sounds the team recorded are fantastic. It's a shame they can't be implemented. I live right by Lansdowne, and I still prefer the new sounds even if the RPM's don't match. Sounds just like the F40's going by my place.

Agreed! Much of the line in real life has fresh ballast that doesn't match the terrain.

Apologies for bumping an old thread; however, I wonder if there will be a timetable update to Boston Sprinter so that the HSPs and BTC/CTC-5s will run on that route as well? Needless to say this route is top notch and has quickly become a favorite of mine. I can't seem to get enough of it.

I also have a suggestion for the Worscester Line; jump/spawn points at each railyard, namely Farmingham and Southampton Street.
Is DTG planning on more DLCs for this line? I could see the GP40MC and/or the MP36PH making an appearance here. Also, IIRC, the Lake Shore Limited also uses this line. Some long distance Amtrak equipment would be stellar!

Please, you're pressing right on the wound.
DTG made it clear that they do not consider long distance Amtrak trains DLC profitable.
    Welcome to our sad club.

    Whoops.
I don't even know how that makes sense considering so many of their US routes host Amtrak trains in one form or another. This includes Sherman Hill, in the past the Zephyr has detoured over while the Moffat underwent massive maintenance projects...but okay. Sad club indeed. I'll find a chair.

Shouldn't it be using the sounds from the same engine on the Providence route?
I mean they're supposed to be the same exact locomotive.

there are differences - e.g. the new version has Warning devices breaker facing down, but it is kinda active? Also, F40 from Boston Providence, upon departing from Boston, shows correct ACSES speed of 10 mph, the new version shows 20 mph, but you still gotta go under 10 mph... also the weird procedures for getting rid of traction lock icon (not necessary, but it annoys me :D ) are different (I posted em a couple comments back)... also, if you try using F40 from Boston Providence, it doesnt register safety stuff being on and therefore it doesnt give you full points for having them on (the new version works ok)

Well yeah, but they're both supposed to be representing the SAME locomotive right?
