LENGTH: 33 Miles STATIONS: 14 The MBTA Haverhill Line is a commuter rail route in Massachusetts, running between Boston North Station and Haverhill, near the New Hampshire border. The line travels through a mix of dense urban areas, suburbs and wooded countryside, serving communities such as Malden, Melrose, Wakefield, Reading, Wilmington, Andover and Lawrence. ROLLING STOCK: GP40MC MBTA (NEW) The GP40MC is the new loco on this route. The EMD GP40MC is a diesel-electric locomotive built for MBTA commuter services in Massachusetts. Based on the EMD GP40, the GP40MCs were rebuilt for commuter operations and became a familiar sight on MBTA routes, including the Haverhill Line. HSP46 MBTA (reused) Seen before on Boston - Framingham and Worcester, this loco returns for services along the Haverhill Line. CABCARS: CTC-3 CABCAR (Reused) This route, like other MBTA lines features the CTC3 cabcar, seen before on Boston - Providence, and Boston - Worcester. CTC-5 DOUBLE DECKER CABCAR (Reused) Seen before on Boston - Worcester, thesd double decker cab cars make a return for this route. WHY THIS ROUTE? The MBTA Haverhill Line would be a great addition to Train Sim World because it offers a varied American commuter experience, combining busy urban running, suburban stations and scenic countryside. The GP40MC would provide a classic MBTA diesel experience, with its older EMD engine and distinctive commuter-rail character, while the HSP46 would offer a more modern and powerful locomotive. Having both locomotives would give players different driving experiences. The route would also feature a good mixture of double-track and single-track railway, frequent station stops, level crossings and busier areas around Boston. Further north, the scenery becomes more rural as the line passes through communities such as Reading, Andover and Lawrence before reaching Haverhill. Overall, the Haverhill Line would combine classic and modern MBTA locomotives, varied scenery, challenging operations and authentic American commuter services, making it a strong candidate for TSW.
