I'd love to go out and make some contacts with the local railroads, but I thought we were told NOT to contact them to solicit help?
The website has contact info to....contact them.
I wasn't going to initiative contact to find better contact info if DTG policy was NOT to do so.....

I think it all depends on your definition of "enthusiast."
Someone who says "cool I like trains"... okay.
Someone who is gonna talk selfies constantly and disobey rules to let their buddies "railfan" around possibly unsafely... not so much.
At the end of the day PR is nice, but getting from A to B without killing someone is definitely the goal.

Good example: "I grew up with trains running through my backyard basically. They were always around. I thought I'd like to drive one someday and make some money doing it."

Bad example: "Do you know the 13 differences between the AC4400 and the ES44? Do you know how many gallons a GP-38-2 uses per hour on notch 6 on a 2.2% grade pulling a 11,000 ton load? "

I've been playing the AVL recently and I've enjoyed playing with the EMD F125 and the cab car. This is a route I might pick up. It's not the most exciting route in the world, but at least the rolling stock is interesting.

From the looks of the route (irl) it seems like it'll be a mix of the rolling stock of Antelope with the urban commuter feel of Peninsula. Of course, it'll also have the MP-36 so.... basically another Peninsula in a different city with different livery.

Yeah i personally like the metrolink routes and US commuter in general it definitely doesn’t deserve hate it’s a great route for sure, i really like the stations on the antelope valley line and US diesel commuter stock for example i’m excited and i can’t wait to play San Bernardino too.

Out of curiosity, and I have asked the question over at The Depot, is this route the same as the Alhambra Sub section in Run 8 or slightly different?

    Yes and no....

This little segment circled in red is the UP Alhambra Sub. Metrolink's line is known as the San Gabriel Sub.

So no, its not, but yes it does parallel and cross over it for a short segment.

    https://metrolinktrains.com/schedules/scheduleupdate/schedule-update-sb/

Metrolink has announced a schedule update to the San Bernardino Line ONLY, effective January 27th, 2025. It removes ALL Covina “flips” and extends them to Montclair, removes the two express trains, adds a new late night departure from Los Angeles, and also removes a few other trains. Most all times were adjusted as well. This will make the current schedule within TSW5 incorrect. This schedule change was done to address major backlash from riders due to service reliability issues resulting from the October 2024 schedule change.

I wouldn't say it makes the schedule "incorrect" - TSW schedules are always based on a point in time that the route is set, they don't update the schedules every time the real life route changes. So it is still correct for the time the route is set but its not the current timetable.
