I am currently creating the Middlesbrough to Whitby route (the Esk Valley line) for train simulator 2019. At the moment I am focusing on creating the Middlesbrough to Nunthorpe section of the line and then when it is complete I will continue on to Whitby. I will be uploading photos of my progress to this thread. Please tell me any advice or anything you would like me to include.
Congratulations!! Great work! One suggestion: add more different textures like greener trees and more houses.
Perhaps a few fields with animals in them could be good, if that sort of scenery exists in the area in real life. Another thing which I think is a nice touch is boats in the harbour. I've been to Whitby - I imagine it's going to be totally spectacular! I know steam railtours go there sometimes - I've been on one. If I recall rightly, it was a Black Five steam locomotive. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
By the way, do you know about the "East Coast Main Line: North East" route by DP Simulation? That goes to Middlesbrough too. https://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/ecmlne.html
There is also a North Yorkshire Coast route which is "The coastal route from Guisborough station/ Saltburn West Jnct, Through industrial East Cleveland With the famous zig zag line from Loftus mine the short Kiltonthorpe branch, Travelling south towards Whitby Town," https://www.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=36125 Peter
One of my most fondly remembered train journeys was Boro to Grosmont for an NYMR gala- it was a beautiful day and the ride out, most of it in a Pacer for heavens sake, was just as enjoyable as the event. Must do it again some time and thrilled to learn it might be possible in TS.
I used to live near loftus and saltburn where the trains runs through. i enjoyed seeing those thos potash trains with 56 and the rare 66 i'd seen 47s aswell and a few steel train as well. i've seen the boulby mine and where the hoppers are filled those were pre freightliner 66 days when loadhaul, railfreight grey's, EW&S/EWS nainline blue & mainline grey along with transrail 56's and even rarer 47's and 60's the 66 was an even rarer sight and when 142's ruled that line
