Surely depends on weather and lighting conditions if it's visible. But the 158 is quite an old DMU, and the AP version in TSC does have visible exhaust. I understand you think it's not necessary, but it makes it a standout as being the cleanest Diesel in the whole game. And Adam didn't state there was no need for it, he said he believed nobody had been working on it.
It seems we are having different quality standards and expectations of basic things like emitters which take an afternoon to set up. "Isn't game breaking" is not enough for me, and smoke emitters are a basic feature since MSTS. Thanks again for acting as a company spokesman/woman and a quite useless post stating the obvious and helping to lower quality standards. If you've played the TSC AP 158/159 once, you can't go back to TSW as it's just bare (and the window can be fully opened in TSC btw in case you haven't noticed that one... and cab textures are of higher resolution... and DestDisplay Vultron can be operated.) But then, I've got almost the full MML network in TSC, the AP 158, AP Valenta, VP and MTU HST with countless liveries. Why bother with restricted TroubleShooting&Walking anymore, playing basically the same handful of services all the time.
https://skyhookgames.com/tsw-4-midland-main-line-may-2024-patch-notes/ Patch notes released for latest update. Not sure when this goes live. Some excellent stuff here imo.
Very pleasant to read, thanks Skyhook! Hopefully their next route, whatever it may be will have the quality and passion that has been put into the MML updates in it because that will put us onto a winner.
Excellent update on the face of it. Genuinely one of the routes that could keep being developed and eventually extended. Would be great to get 158 exhaust as the next upgrade and a Cargo Line 3 being services to Ratcliff PS and movements around Toton yards. Excellent work by the team.
I have to say after reading the Cargo lines vol 2 article (the discussion is locked to comments for some reason?) seems like a lot of good workn has gone into this! Such a large variety of services is good to see over a few routes too! Also happy to see the loading has made it into the timetable. Will add some more than welcome variety?
I really liked Cargo Pack 1. It addd a lot of play value to the route and also GWE. Definitely one of the better DLC’s I’ve bought in terms of price v’s hours played. Pack 2 seems even better to me. I really like the direction Skyhook are heading in. Just wish they’d revisit some of their older DLCs as well.
Excellent News about the upcoming cargo pack. I think it is a bargain. I was expecting to pay a lot more. Mike.
I get why we've lost Chaddesden sidings, Loughborough works etc etc. It's just a shame as I enjoyed trundling down them on free roam. It's also a shame about Ratcliffe power station not having the smoke effects anymore. Again though I do get it, I understand and it's the right call. But that aside so far I'm enjoying the updates, the new scenery is gorgeous and I love that Leicester Depot and Derby Litchurch Lane has more rolling stock.
Just ran service 2K39 and was nice. My main concern was, being on PC, installed MML mods and had no conflict at all.
7th May Update. Run a couple of HST services. Nice to see the extra layered in stock at depots and the wagons moved about in the sidings in prep for Cargo Line Vol.2 If I had to ask for one thing to be "tweaked" its the lack of foliage/clutter/trees around the embankments near railway bridges, much is visible from the driving position.
LucaZone Textures on the Class 158 in the rain look wrong now? PC Player on Steam with all settings on Ultra in 4K
Nothing to do, the patch did not correct the absence of the 2 benches at Syston station, I cannot unlock the reward
Even though the patch notes state this was fixed in the latest update, the class 158 interior lights still turn off when the camera moves away
Morning Everyone, Thanks for the feedback since the update to MML was released. Really glad everyone is enjoying the improvements. I have investigated the feedback and can inform the following: Class 158 rain texture issue - Fix submitted for testing. Thanks to members on the discord community for assisting with this. Missing Petroleum services on GWE timetable - Fix submitted for testing. Missing TPWS lights in 158 - Fix submitted for testing. 158 Gauges affected by weather - This is the fix that was implemented. Previously I believe the gauges were entirely obscured. 158 Coach lights turning off as camera moves away - This was fixed and tested. Investigating what has happened. Missing collectibles at Syston - The route matches this guide >> https://tswmania.com/guides/midland-main-line/114 HST Headlights on TOD3 routes - This is handled internally by TSW4. We cannot directly provide TOD3 settings. Representation of water and embankments - This has not been a focus of updates to the route because an acceptable standard of such scenic representation has not been settled upon. Feedback is welcome regarding how to best model rivers, canals, lakes and other bodies of water in TSW. Do any other routes provide a desirable representation?
The new water material used in Fife Circle, West Somerset and LIRR2 would certainly massively improve the look of the water on the route. Would it be possible to get exhaust added to the 158 as well? It doesn't seem to produce any at all.
DTG Matt The game crashes when approaching East Midlands Parkway Station in both directions on the Flying Scotsman timetable services. This is on Xbox One (gen 8).
On the route, the signals are very blunt, especially when you are passing yellows, you can't tell whether it is red or yellow. Also to add to that, the water textures aren't right, they are suppose to look like the New TSW water feature, so that is an issue as it looks like the TSW 2 water textures.
LucaZone Adam. In terms of water and embankments, I think the water decals are fine, it's just the transition from embankment to water (that is directly viewable from the cab) that could be improved with the terrain paint being masked with foliage/long grasses/bushes/trees/flower/clutter. Examples of decent implementation.
The console version of the signals need to be fixed, especially the ones on Xbox on the route because they look very washed out which if I was to drive any train Hudless, I wouldn't know what is single amber or red, which could mean that I have Spad'ed
It is still a shame that with Cargo Line 2, Toton depot was not added in as there is a service that stops at Meadow lane and says to Toton. Toton would be great add on with the pack. I see all the tracks are there and has had scenery added and removed (including the white box which was there representing Toton depot building) when MML was first introduced.
I ended grabbing this DLC along with both cargo packs yesterday and have to say I'm really impressed with it. I've been watching the transformation from it's original release to now and hats off to Skyhook for their commitment and hope this route continues to evolve with additional cargo packs and/or extension. I had ago at a few different runs and was wondering if anyone had issue with the HST 2+8 either 1C15 or 1C20 (not sure which one it was) crashing in Leicester about 100 yards from stop point? Running on PS5 with no CC content.
Rogue signal: green followed by red. North of E Midlands Pkwy, far side of bridge. Exit signal at EMP reads clear; no preparation for stop (and not enough time from when it becomes visible to stop from line speed) Service: 2L35 Leicester-Lincoln (12:29 departs Leicester) Platform: Steam Both Cargo Line packs are insrtalled
I did the 12.29 earlier and I had the double yellow south of East Mids, Single upon departure and then the red after the bridge as we have to wait for the HST to overtake. This was on the PS5 so it worked fine for me.
I climbed aboard the ROG 37 stationed at Leicester TMD and it has a service scheduled for 12:29, after waiting for the service it seemed to be set up as a 158 service? Asked me to load up passengers then tootle to Syston for another stop??? Due to a red signal you cannot get out of Leicester TMD even if you were going to offer a 'cab ride' for a lucky few...
2L35 is an interesting timetable working, you sit at Leicester for 4 minutes after departure waiting for an Aggregate service to run into the loop, meaning you leave Leicester at 12:35 and have 3 minutes to get to Syston. You get overtaken by a HST as you run up to 65mph line speed. We arrived at Syston late at 12:40 and with a spirited run arrived at Sileby 3 minutes late. Barrow-Upon-Soar arrival was 1 minute behind schedule and as we depart we are overtaken by another HST. Loughborough we roll in 1 minute late as a HST going the other way very slowly crawls to a stop at the platform. It's 6 miles to EMP our next stop and 3 miles out we start seeing double yellows, in the distance, but maintain line speed, we make our 13:04 arrival early at 13:02, the ground signal is a single yellow, and a HST is waiting to head off in the same direction as us as we arrive. We leave on the dot. At the end of the bridge we are held at a red signal, we can see a petroleum working on the other side of the triangle, it's clear of our route but we are held as the HST catches and overtakes us. As it clears the block ahead we are cleared to go, the petroleum service follows us. At this point we are already late for our booked stop at Beeston at 13:11 and run in under single yellows at the HST pulls a lead. At Beeston we are 3 minutes down on the published time, the petroleum working can be seen in the distance behind us. The run to Nottingham is under yellows, we arrive 2 late and question why the signaller chose to run the HST past us, which is sat at Platform 6 having just arrived before us. A fun drive showing a very realistic set of conditions. I might drive the according Petroleum service now and see how long it's held in the triangle for faster services.
Upon departure from Syston did you see a southbound freight coming to a stand at the signal? There's another freight on the slow behind you, I'm tempted to do that southbound freight.
Yes I did, with both the Cargo Line packs the MML is really busy now. I saw the Flying Scotsman the other day as well which was a nice treat.
Hey has anyone noticed the lack of ai traffic with the 158 at Nottingham? I’m looking at real-time trains and there are loads of other services going to different locations all starting or going through Nottingham. These locations go as following: Grantham, Skegness, Grimsby Town, Ely, Worksop, Liverpool Lime Street, Norwich and Lincoln Central. I don’t wanna add too much, but seems like there’s a massive potential for ai service pattern that could be added. Could just be the different time period set but ECML has services operating for a few of the services mentioned.
Plus you've got the Northern services between Nottingham and Leeds and Cross Country services to and from Cardiff.
True but on the ones that could be done now (just checked the original EMT Timetable), there was 1tph Nottingham to Worksop, 1tph Nottingham to Skegness, 1tph Nottingham to Mansfield Woodhouse and 1tph Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich which stopped at Nottingham. These could all be added in with the 158.

im doing derby to nottingham and only seen one hst and no other trains, not even freight with both cargo packs.
What time of the day was this? because I have done these services early in the morning and it has been quiet, and later on it had been busier. And what station are you talking about? because on the route, Derby tends to be more quieter than Nottingham
It was about 2.40 in the afternoon. I eventually passed two 158's and one HST, but never saw any freight or any wagons anywhere.
