Playstation 5 Missing scenery since the latest patch is just another reason to avoid MML for the time being. This is painfully obvious and once seen cannot be unseen
It seems like we all share the same or very similar issues, PS5 users have it worse and I feel for ya, I have only seen some of the items posted by those on PS5. I did post a pair of videos(they are now that is) but the thread is locked now, I thought I would put those same links here in one post. My intention is to NOT double post, or be Pete & Re-Pete, it is simple to show/inform for those that may not have seen what I reported, in the event it was lost in a very long thread. --=-- This includes the reply by cwf.green to one or both of my videos but I did also take a screenshot of that post to make things more convenient. PS: if all cookies are not accepted the videos will not show.
[PC] The images below are more recent issues that I noticed, I have not looked at all routes, and if this ends up being simply a glitch in the way the game loaded up and not all assets were properly loaded, I will amend this post as needed. The PIS system looks like a dead or damaged LED screen Glow in the dark hair and VERY bright lighting in the passenger area of the train.
Whatever your opinion is, it's not really relevant to the feedback or issues this thread is aimed at Don't like SHG? Good for you. I don't care for the drama, and I find it's a pretty decent DLC, on par with E-G as my favourite route.
jane-skyhook DTG Alex Hey, sorry to bother but the 158 is undrivable. The wheels spin on the rear coach when the train is stopped I'll post a video to PS Live tommorow if it helps.
Fantastic to see proper support for Jane at long last. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this route.
I'd also be interested to see a comparison list of what was stated to be included in the patches pre-release versus what was actually delivered (including asset enhancements/additions). Among all the threads, it isn't clear at all.
Thanks for the continued feedback for MML. We have been quiet of late due to other projects requiring our focus, but support will continue. It is disappointing that the update to MML and then the subsequent 'Hot Fix' (for which we were given a very small window to react within) did not meet expectations as we had hoped. We care a lot about ensuring MML is a great experience and thus continue to evaluate the feedback being provided. We continue to work very closely with JD and the DTG team to communicate when ever possible. Happy Simming!
Hi Adam, thanks for the update. Its great to know Skyhook are still listening. The hotfix did fix most of the problems I had on PC (steam) but it seems not for console players. There is a lot of confusion over what should be fixed already because of this and misinformation we have been given previously relating to the completion of bug fixes and 'missing files'. After the hotfix I am enjoying the route again on PC Steam but I need to be able to acknowledge DSD on controller on the HST. I also notice the DRA isolation switch is still 'reversed' with it being active when the switch is in isolation state.
The most complaints seem to stem from certain players and how the beta team never got the update before general release, so complained that either nothing was fixed... when it was, or console fixes not working, which I believe is down to DTG. Then again, most people on this forum rage when their exact wants are not met, which is why I never believe and rarely read peoples opinions or reviews. MML is a great route, I don't understand alot of the anti-shg retorick, it just seems to me that its hate on SHG, until Rivet reappear and then it's anti Rivet and so on.
Wondering when the next patch for MML will be released? Been very quiet especially since Jane has took time out for personal reasons. DTG unfortunately not giving any information. Any updates DTG JD Thanks
With the game crashes and bug the route is unplayable and it should be sorted out very quickly but it's seems to be taking a bit of a longer time then it's should to fix the crashes bugs aren't important while there are crashes
Late to this as due to all the issues I've been avoiding it. However as the general consensus is that the Steam version has less issues than console, I bought that. (Normally play Microsoft Store Version on PC and XBOX). First opinions. Not as bad as I expected, but not as good as I hoped. Firstly, when running completely unmodded with a standard engine.ini, I had really terrible stuttering. Far worse than any other route. My PC is an i9 10900K with a 3080, 32 GB + Separate SSD for the game and should be more than capable. Pop in of Trees and Scenery Assets also really bad. Quite immersion breaking when giant cooling towers suddenly appear out of nowhere. To me the foliage in general just doesn't look good on this route. Second attempt with engine.ini changes applied - much smoother and made the game playable. Pop in still terrible, but focusing mainly on the cab and signals took my mind of that. Did multiple runs and quite enjoyed them. Positives : The locos are good. This is what I really wanted the route for. The HST sounds in particular are very nice. The guard buzzer is nice on the 158, but in my opinion this is something that should be core and is long overdue. The Buildings are also good, I remember a lot of the route from my student days and whilst it has changed a fair bit, the stations are very recognisable and look nice. Use of AI is good, though crying out for a Class 222. Negatives : As already mention Stutter and Pop in are really bad on this route. I normally play the MS Store versions on PC and XBOX and the other routes I play are not this bad. DTG really needs to find a way to address this as it's spoiling the core game. The trees and general foliage don't look great. Other routes look better. I can't put my finger on why, but to me it just doesn't look right and the pop in and shadow drawing are not helping. Summary : I've had an enjoyable afternoon zooming up and down. The highlights are the locos. The route for me is just not worth the money in it's current state. I'm not going to refund it, I want the locos for other routes. But at current exchange rates from Swiss Francs this route is £40 (Thanks to DTGs ridiculous policy of using the Steam exchange rates based on an already inflated US Dollar Price, which do not bear any resemblance to actual exchange rates). For me it's not money well spent. I didn't get any crashes which is good and only hit one unexpected emergency brake (All safety systems on), but to be honest that could have been my own fault, I'm not going back to recreate it. Above all I feel this route is too short. An HST run is over in the blink of an eye. It should have gone to Sheffield, then I think it might have more promise. I hope more improvements come soon and particularly hope the console crashes get resolved. EDIT : Coming back with some qualified positive feedback. There is now a Mod available for this route and it absolutely transforms it. A lot of this couldn't be done by Skyhook such as branding, but some of it could, like lineside clutter and foliage. Along with the Mod came some engine.ini changes which on my PC have virtually eliminated stutter (after a first run to compile the shaders and still a few microstutters for tile loading) So I'm going to say it's worth the money IF you can, and don't mind installing mods. I've been skeptical about Mods in the past, but this is easy to install / remove. It's really gone from form a route I was disappointed with to one I really enjoy playing. I'd go as far to say it's a showcase for what TSW can do (The HST Scenario in the rain is so atmospheric now). Should it be this way that modders have to 'rescue' the route. Definitely No, but they have and it's good.
Not sure if already reported... On the Up Slow approaching Loughborough, the AWS magnet for the 50 MPH PSR advance warning board gives a bell not a horn, which is a "wrong side" failure.
Thanks for this, and I've been shouting it from the rooftops. Here in the US we pay the equivalent of £2 above the exchange rate for a new Route, since the new "pricing adjustment" or whatever they are calling it. Of course Steam is known for overcharging on other games too.
Definitely agree on wanting the 222 as an addon, and Sheffield as an extension. Would also love some more freight work, maybe delivering stuff to the power station?
Skyhook usually doesn't reply in the forums. Jane is on leave at the moment so he won't be replying for some time.
I'm here watching and taking notes. I'm working on a request from JD to provide more details of what we're up to on the MML front. Skyhook is much smaller than DTG, we don't have a dedicated person for the TrainSim community to provide regular exchange.
100% this. Sheffield, and some freight/coal timetable addition around Ratcliffe power station would make the route perfect to me. (bugs aside).
Agree Before we start a wish list of things to add, as a console user I need the route fixed so that I can not only play it, but also enjoy it. As it is, it’s still sitting in my console not being used, which is a tragic waste in my opinion. Ps: like the freight to Radcliffe idea
I'm not really sure why it has so many issues on console. Runs without issue for me on PC, 158 and HST are two of my favourites so I use the route a lot.
Following completion of the previous Midland Main Line update and subsequent hotfix for which only a small response window was permitted, we stepped back to observe any further feedback or concerns from players regarding the Midland Main Line as we complete work on further TSW projects. With said feedback now settled on, we are working on several confirmed aspects and are working to provide an update soon: Crashes during gameplay (On Steam and PS5) - We are investigating potential issues with terrain texturing that are reported to possibly cause this. Missing Collectables - We will ensure the next update resolves this. Errors on signs / boards within the route - Reviewing artwork to remove these instances. Text too large for speed signs - Resolving for next update. Controller functionality - We will ensure the next update resolves this. Missing scheduled freight services in Timetable mode on foot - Working with DTG regarding how the on-foot experience could differ given only one timetable exists. Class 158 external PIS - Working to address player feedback as best as possible. There are conflicting reports about what the display should be. TPWS glitches still happening - Continuing to investigate player reports to ensure the next update resolves this. Midland Main Line for TSW3 has not been left or forgotten. It remains very much on our radar. As soon as we have more details of timings of a further update we will share it. Thank you.
That’s good to hear, thank you for the update. I’m looking forward to giving the 158 some more runs now.
Thanks for the update Adam. I hope you guys can solve the problem of the missing scheduled freight services in timetable mode on foot issue and get things figured out soon. I want to get some trainspotting done on this route!
Snow between and beside the tracks is no where near as dense as on the track itself. This isnt the case on any other route plus still the issue with trains at heavy snow. Below is a vanilla (no mods) screenshot of the issue. Barely any snow on surrounding ballast and Power Cars completely covered.
I have an issue with MML on Xbox series s. Twice now in Rail Journey mode I have run the 158 service 2D55 Lincoln-Leicester and upon arriving at Leicester, the service will not end and hence let me continue on Journey mode. It’s not as bad as most of the other issues above, but am reporting anyway. Also should note that am I the only one whose speed limits on the hud doesn’t match the actual posts seen in game? Sometimes they can be 100yds or so out?
I've noticed this too. The speed boards placed on the route do not match the speed reflected on the UI at various intervals.
LM. also noticed this fact that the speed boards are placed about 50 yards prior to the point where the speed change begins.
Can we get a light emissive texture added to the cab light in the HST? Currently the light casts light, but the actual light/bulb doesn't actually illuminate, so the light looks like it comes from nowhere.
A similar situation came about trying to mod the 158 exhaust. There wasn't one to mod, it dosent exist.
Of the Videos I made, the Exhaust was one of the items I focused on, from the very first one of the HST in the training center when it was released and the purple Exhaust to the 158 as you mentioned as well as in a video I made some time ago, and in one of the videos posted here at the time I posted those videos, Jane-Shyhook had mentioned to me in the now locke6d thread, that they would make good use of what I had depicted. The one thing that is still very prevalent is the purple exhaust, I have never seen that on a train other than blue-ish colored indicating burning oil, but purple? The reason I included the GWR trains is because they are the same type and the exhaust issues also started with the MML EMT DLC release. And has not been corrected as of yet. But all we have is they are hard at work, unless proven otherwise, it's just take them at their word.
I’ve just been catching up on this thread after having time off from looking at anything MML due to the stress. It’s quite painful laughing and crying at the same time. I had a feeling as all the info about what was being worked on for fixes came forth that there was no way it was all being checked on consoles, so no surprises when the updates only worked on PC and how many issues there still are despite them. I hope it all gets sorted soon but I’m not holding my breath. That screenshot is hilarious though. Much work yet to do on all platforms it seems before this route can be considered salvaged.
How to understand this... is there other version of MML being worked on? BTW it sound very uncomfortable to read such assurance, remembering SKYHOOK negligence on previous routes.
Adam from skyhook who used to work for dtg has written a post on the issues they are fixing. Some are big issues like the crashing. But the route has not been forgotten
It crashes so often on the PS5 that I no longer play it. Utter waste of money, it's an absolute disgrace
I've had similar on PC. I crawled forward a few yards (being careful not to pass the red signal) and was then able to end the service normally.
And things take time to fix. They can't just fix everything in a single day. They have to identify the problem, figure out what's causing it, test it and repeat if necessary. All that takes time
Im very glad I gave this route a wide berth. Was hoping the talk would be followed up a little better by SHG as I want the route to be good and I did want it. I know they're still working on it somewhat but it has been months unfortunately.
