Delaying dlc is extremely costly. That might mean we would never see a dlc released again. There will always be issues before release. You can't get rid of them

They are on your left side on the desk from what I saw in the livestream. It's different from the gwr one

    Are we now saying
So if you know of issues. Is it morally fair to not mention them until your unsuspecting customers find them for themselves?

I mean if there are gaps because DLC is coming to feel them then I am perfectly happy with that. Of course I am sure the developers won't want to suggest there are any coming so they are going to be between a rock and a hard place when people start questioning the inadequate timetable.

I guess we shall see what the coming months bring, but considering this DLC isn't exactly great in length a busy and immersive timetable would make up for that.

Purchased the xbox version and whilst I am loving the route and don’t want to be over critical, but I noticed at Loughborough Station, that the Brush works at the side of the track has no signage. I then checked the Just Trains TSC version and “Brush” works signage was everywhere.

Is it that TSW are not allowed to display business or industry signs or is that Skyhook have been lazy and omitted them? Can someone please explain the reason why these have been omitted!!!

It is interesting to hear what Tom says is right and wrong as he designed the TSC version.

Had a further 2 crashes during HST runs, happening in both directions.

I’ve filed a big report on the relevant forum but I’ll share here. The new HST is bugged in custom scenario mode. To load passengers you have to open the doors on the wrong side of the train - in a scenario I made from Edinburgh to Glasgow it refused to load passengers even though doors where open platform side. I had to open them trackside and then it said it was loading passengers.

Also the catering vehicle is in reverse formation. The First class area faces the other first class coaches and the bar area faces towards the standard coaches. Have none of the devs ever travelled on an HST before? Trust me, I worked HSTs regularly and it’s the wrong way around. It’s odd too because the GWR HST is in the correct formation.

We spotted lots of things which were reported when testing (Xbox). Not everything can be fixed before release.

According to the livestream last week, they were't allowed to put the name in so it was omitted.

How come Just Trains were able to do it then? I'll bet they don’t have a licence from Brush Tractions…

There’s also only ‘no time to fix it before it release’ if you’re committed to an arbitrary release date come what may.

I’ve refunded it. It feels deader than Spirit of Steam. The HST is bugged in scenario mode (have to open doors on the wrong side of train to load passengers and there’s weird shadow artefacts in the cab) and the catering vehicle is in reverse formation. Again I’ve worked HSTs a lot and know that they’ve got it the wrong way around.

And they didn’t bother to fix it? Yeah I don’t feel guilty refunding it now. Also the doors are bugged. In scenario planner mode you have to open the doors on the wrong side of the train to load passengers. It’d be funny if they weren’t charging for the experience.

Why not at the very least. State that 1st? This buy now, hopefully we’ll fix it later attitude needs to stop. We know these devs arent daft. Theres probably issues theyve known about that we havent seen yet, and if they dont get mentioned, probably wont be fixed.

When was the last time ANY game released without a single problem?

    There has never been.
Bugs and glitches are a fact of life. Even triple A studios can't eliminate every issue.

Hell, even space invaders bug is it's greatest feature. As each alien was killed, the memory freed up and it ran faster.. it was never designed too, they just went with it.

This game seems to treat post release patches as part of the development process. Like a paid beta test.

I have to say, having seen copies of the timetables on the other thread, which show six class 158 departures over the whole day, that is pretty disappointing. I will check it out myself later.

Waiting for the PC version but this is sounding horribly like refund territory and another yellow card from Steam. Sorry to disagree with the apologists but if it’s significantly broken then release should be delayed. DTG are not short of money as demonstrated by the fact they can afford to buy dot matrix advertising space and putting a DLC back in the cooking pot to get things right should not break the bank. And we know from past experience bugs and scant timetables more often or not stay that way, stringing along the audience until it breaks even on costs then consigned to the dumpster with Clinchfield, Harlem, SoS and all the rest.

It appears it suffers from another trophy bug, at least on PS5, the one for completing the 158 Introduction hasn't popped for me even though I've clearly completed it.

So is other games. Most games have day 0 or day 1 patches or were released in an extremely poor state (cyberpunk, last of us on pc to name a few). Even with all the patches, bugs will still remain

Definitely not and based on what I have read seriously considering doing so myself. Wait until it is 40% off and hopefully has some of the bugs ironed out. Does not sound like this should have been the release candidate. They should not be charging £30 for this.

Back to TSC and enjoy the new Japanese and Boston to Albany routes.

I'm really starting to get a little tired of all these new empty routes (which should be busier as per reality) - I certainly miss the excitement of TSW during the days of Rush Hour. :(

IMHO it peaked with London Commuter. Yes it's all Electrostars but the timetable complexity more than compensated.

Those were ports related to one platform. These concern dlcs across all platforms. Ive seen all manner of oddities, blatant errors and omissions today.

Tbf people always ask for realistic timetables. With this route this is what you get. I personally would love to see DTG pivot to building up a route over multiple DLC’s instead of this scattershot approach of different routes.

I don't even know what this is, absolutely terrible.
I am so disappointed in this so far.

Did anybody else notice the DSD is bugged and you can't cancel it out like you can on other trains..

Also the AWS button doesn't animate.

Indeed - a sign of a great timetable is that it even keeps people playing despite those who might not be a fan of the rolling stock. Moreover, while you have to have a lot of existing DLC, nearly every German route too had mostly a decent timetable in TSW, with the likes of Dresden-Riesa being one of the best.

Much agreed. I always argue that if DTG want a new route, please don't include the busiest of routes/stations first when lacking suitable rolling stock etc but instead have a few quieter routes with a couple different locos. The reason why the likes of London Commuter is so great is because ECW (with the 377, 66 and 313), GWE (166, HST, 66) and SEHS (375 and 465) came before - imagine what London Commuter would have been like without any of these routes. :|

When it comes to the concept stage for choosing new routes, DTG and third-parties need to think about those which:
    - Firstly, have trains which already operate many services instead of waiting for more DLC to fill out a timetable.
    - Secondly, choose routes which will form part of larger networks instead of random, standalone routes with emptier timetables.
    - Finally, choose routes which can use more existing rolling stock for better timetables.

The timetable is the most important aspect of any route!

That looks dreadful and I suspect a consequence of the "shiny" ground graphics which were already evident from the preview screens.

Anyone else think DTG should be pulling this from release and chucking it back at Skyhook to fix all the faults?

I think this is probably accurate.

With the exception of CJP and Niddertalbahn, I'm not convinced I've gotten my $40 worth with the last few routes I've bought. One train, one route, shortchanged timetables and mausoleums for mainline stations. Everything seems to be rushed out the door, ready or not.

I'm still playing the game, can't help myself, but I'm wondering where things are headed, in my case with North America. Is there a firm hand on the tiller?

That looks like something from the livery designer and suspect there's an issue with it. The EMT HST does NOT look like that.

Thank you to everyone who explained the reasons. I agree it’s strange that Just Trains are allowed to do it for TSC but Skyhook are not allowed for TSW3!!! It detracts from the realism.

Is every release now going to be a contest between genuine criticism and the DTG Apologist crew?

I'm having a hard time figuring out who works for DTG and who is just a wannabe.

Tbf, JT even put in Tesco Extra and Sainsbury's logos in their MML DLCs (there's also a large Tesco at Penzance in their Cornwall DLC for GWML).

Couldn’t agree more. Even people who have been firmly critical in the past who now appear (at least) to be on the other side have become apologists for this.

Watching the TrainSim TV video is interesting too. Ever since JT were announced as being involved with TSW the whole tone of their videos has changed. Where once there was criticism (some constructive, some exasperated) there is now indifference. It’s been like that for a while. The video linked above belies that for me though, the genuine reaction is very hard to hide. Particularly when you happen to be one of the guys responsible for a far superior route.

Stuck at work but brought the route first thing, not downloaded yet...

As I'm on PS5 I don't even know now whether it's worth installing it, as I won't get a refund.

I had a brilliant day on TSW a week ago, everything ran perfect, trophies popped when they should, then yesterday I slammed into a wall.. broken scenario on RSN. SEHS training module trophy not popping, one of the DB shunters is still locked to classic controls too... Just ugh.

I hope it's not as bad as everyone makes out, I'll have to watch some streams before hitting that instal button I think.

This debate has been done to death, but DTG are the outlier here. If JT could do it, DTG could do it.

The 156 has the same number of coaches as the 158 so it could layer in to take over 158 services without requiring a new timetable or additional services.

It is not impossible that JT didn't bother with permissions, just reckoned they would fly under Brush's and Tesco's lawyers' radar.
