The Midland Mainline is a major railway line in England that links London, with the Midlands (Leicester, Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield) with branches to Liverpool, Leeds, Cleethorpes, Lincoln, Norwich and Manchester. Spanning about 160 miles long it is one of the main ways to get into yorkshire via the East Midlands. The mainline is currently undergoing full electrification which has been completed south of leicester. I will be requesting the London St Pancras International to Leicester branch of the line sitting at about 100 miles. The London - Leicester part of the mainline is currently served by East Midlands Railway and Govia Thameslink as far as bedford, and the wires currently run as far as market harborough. The Midland Mainline was built in stages between the 1840s and the 1870s and ran parallel to the Great Central Mainline (Closed by the beeching cuts) with the extension to London being built in 1857 and the Midland Mainline was electrified as far as Bedford station under the Thameslink Programme in the 1980s and is currently undergoing electrification as far as sheffield. The top speed on the route is 200km/h (125mph) TRAINS ON THE LINE Set in the current era, Trains included should be: Class 222 “Meridian” The British Rail Class 222 Meridian is a Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit train capable of 125 mph (200 km/h) running. (DLC) Train 1: Class 360 “Desiro” The British Rail Class 360 Desiro is an electric multiple unit class that was built by Siemens between 2002 and 2005. Mate this would be a great modern route to have and I'm the one who's usually fed up with modern routes but this is not one of them. I think dovetail would happily make this route and they could also add a hst railtour to the line as I have seen a video of a ex east midlands hst pulling a railtour on the line.
class 45 could layer in if we get a class 46 and 56 for a diesel legend that actually changes the route.
infomation leaked online that Skyhook's new british route is Derby to Leicester and Nottingham with the HST and 158. Its to be properly announced tonight at 8pm on YouTube
I wonder if this version of the route from Skyhook will include the Brush works in Loughborough which is just a short distance from the mainline. I think that would be a interesting addition.
Excellent idea and you can merge this with the northern section being Derby to Leicester made by Skyhook games. Assuming your route and the one made by Skyhook games have London St Pancras as the common origin point. For Class 700 it must use AP sounds otherwise end up like TSC 444 DC 395 AC sounds.
