After a few days of playing on my PS4 I've realized there are strange differences between the version I have and the version I see players on PC and Xbox have. I was curious if anyone else has noticed this and if anyone knows why. I'm certain Dovetail hasn't made it clear that the PS4 offeres a limited selection of the content from the full game but something is clearly wrong. If the limited PS4 experience is intentional then we have a problem. What concerns me the most is that I bought the Deluxe version of the game as I was looking forward to James' freight services in TImetable mode. But everytime I start the game, James' services begin at 07:50, which is when he takes his local train from Tidmouth to Knapford. They should begin at 04:30 (ish) when he takes the tank cars from Knapford to Vicarstown. The mail train services are also missing. None of these freight services are in my timetable list, just to be clear. I paid full price for the deluxe version, yet there is plenty of missing content. It doesn't seem fair that you should pay full price if the fact that you don't get a full game is deliberate. If it ISN'T deliberate I urge Dovetail to look into this as soon as possible because I want what I paid for. And if it IS deliberate I urge Dovetail to communicate that to the buyers. Other strange things I've noticed are: Gordon's express train is only 4 coaches long and is missing the brake coach James and Emily's passenger coaches are green and not red, which they are in other versions of the game as well as in the photos found on the Playstation store. Automatic coupling is activated when hitting the buffers of troublesome trucks with a locomotive even though automatic coupling has been turned off (This might just be a general bug regardless of platform) Why is there missing content? Does anyone else have the same experience? Is Dovetail aware of this? I really want to enjoy the game but these strange differences make me very skeptical
Xbox Series S has all the same limitations to timetable mode. I too was disappointed by this and the lack of transparency about version differences makes it worse. I completely understand that there might be hardware limitations at play that make the differences unavoidable, but at least be upfront about it. I've got plenty of enjoyment from the game and feel the price I paid for it was fair, I just wish I'd known I was buying a restricted version of it when making the purchase so I felt I was making an informed decision.
I agree that there are still fun things to do. It just doesn't make sense to charge the same price regardless of platform even though the amount of content differs. If Series S and PS4 players got a discount due to the lack of content, everything would be fine
The game has been released with limitations all over the place. I play on PS5 and can’t even have clouds in the sky in timetable mode. The game was sold by directing us to watch prerelease content played by ambassadors and what I got did not match what I had seen in those videos. Very little, probably zero, transparency about this from DTG. It’s a poor show.
