Yes this is really the minimum. My dream route would be Peterborough to York but this seems unlikely with most things for Posh to Cross in game.
thing is with pbo-kgx is it offers all kinds of services, like metro, commuter(stoppers, semi fasts etc) intercity and freight, whereas a pbo-york only really offers intercity and some freight. So from a diversity pov in game, the south section makes more sense in that regard, though of course i’d love to see a pbo-york in game one day.
Yes, Borough to York would be the flagship intercity route if it were made. I do see why Posh to Cross would be the best option at the minute as although I despise commuter stop start malarky others don't and there is still the intercity option, though unlike PBO to York it would be A to B occasionally stopping at Stevenage.
Kings Cross to Aberdeen or it's just not worth doing… Great Northern, Thameslink, LNER, Grand Central, Hull Trains, Lumo, freight and the odd rail tour. Yes, it's plenty diverse.
Hopefully by the time PBO- YORK gets added maybe route mergers might be a thing, and it becomes the first merged route in TSW
Plus the section down to Blackfriars or even beyond for the actual Thameslink experience. Which is why, sadly, I don’t honestly expect it will go to Peterborough. It will more than likely be Blackfriars to Hitchin or Royston, maybe Cambridge if we’re lucky.
Agreed, ending Ecml south at somewhere like Hitchin would make playable intercity services on this route almost impossible and would completely destroy any and all hype for it. Personally I think it will be King's X - Peterborough but likely without the Thameslink core to Blackfriers.
i agree with you on that, and i’d also be more than happy with it too. In real life thameslink drivers change over at finsbury anyways, so it’s technically more realistic ending a service there than going one extra stop to st pancras
Doubt it, it says Flying Scotsman centenary edition and Tvl is set in the 1980's so having the Flying Scotsman for that route just wouldn't make any logical sense.
So last year it was around 90 miles total length for SEHS. So let’s say this time they beat that and they break the 100 mile mark. Assuming the Peterborough and kings Cross and automatically in with around 75 miles.. Where could they add the 25 miles that would give us more services and that would makes sense?
I can see them doing the Moorgate branch. the Hertford Loop (+ 25 miles, 12 stations) for 30 minute service pattern each way, don’t really see this happening. Too many resources required for what you get in return. I can see the Cambridge branch 30miles 8 stations.
To be completely honest with you, I don't think they gonna try and hit 100 miles, if the Ecml really is coming (fingers crossed it is) then I fully expect it to be just King's X - Peterborough with no branches.
same here. At most maybe a slight extension to st pancras or even the northern city line if we were very lucky.
As a reference of what we can expect for services I took for Peterborough 7/31 for Monday Cross County 33 East Midlands 58 Great Northern 13 Hull 14 Lumo 10 Grand Central 17 LNER 212 Freight 130 Thameslink 54 Greater Anglia I was surprised how many freight services go through Peterborough. We will probably see the 158 East Midlands as AI and hopefully get a new freight loco and operator.
[Crowd booing and jeering noises] Moorgate branch to allow 717s to start at the correct station and copy the metro service to WGC. Thameslink core to Blackfriars to give 700s the AC/DC changeover and a fitting start/end station. Otherwise, if these 2 branches do happen, you would end up with both starting/ending underground.
Well most freight trains going to Felixstowe from the north and the midlands(and vice versa) go through Peterborough.
Peak Forest says hello! If it is ECML (hopefully to Peterborough) I also doubt there would be any branches.
I really hoping ATS has been heavily involved with this route. To be honest I have been playing this route a lot lately and from King's Cross to Hitchin you have lots of action with GN,TL,GR. However, after Hitchin you have about 3 rush hour trains for GN, 2 Tph for TL ,and about 10 tph for GR. I won't count the other operators as unlikely they will be included. Hopefully north of Hitchin can be filled with freight services. At Peterborough we would have East midlands 158 with around 58 services if they use all services to substitute the 170 that won't be in game.
Indeed, if you love the Class 66 then Peterborough is a great place to see them. All pics taken by myself
I had to look it up lol but if is the same route that’s on ATS TSC Peterborough and Cambridge then I guess they turn to the east.
There are still a few daily services that do go up and down the ecml, one that rings a bell is 4E25, every day in the afternoon. That service also has a pretty unique move at biggleswade where it reverses into the sidings to pick up more wagons and then continues north again. Random one to remember i know but yeah there you have it
