Mods aren't something devs officially support. There are other games too where mods break with each update

That's mostly because of the underlying data having changed, so the modder must redo his mod based on the new files. ETS2 is a good example, nothing SCS are doing wrong but many mods are not well maintained - it's not enough to update the compatibility tags in the mod manifest... (and many are stolen and republished by others there...)

I’d probably feel more forgiving about it if there wasn’t a constant laundry list of other issues that continue to arise. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Can you give us a way to roll the update back on steam please?
I'm literally not playing this without core mods, and I'd rather not have to wait for months before I can play the game again.

Hey folks. To update - we've just pushed an update on Steam to revert the mods patch of today's update. We believe this will bring mods back to where they were pre-update.

Thanks for letting us know of the issues, and for your patience as we've sorted.

Officially, they don`t. But any developer worth its salt keeps a very close eye on the Modding community. And DTG clearly do.
It can be a great source of ideas and inspiration. Devs can sometimes (Understandably) get tunnel vision.
Just like in any business, an extra pair of eyes and ears, looking at things from a different perspective, can be invaluable.

    Hey guys.

Can I have some confirmation that this mod still works okay for everyone? Add-on manager is still playing havoc with mods, which can cause the game to crash if it doesn’t load it properly.

    Thanks.

As far as I'm aware it's working fine. Lights are bright, and visible at long distance, no crashes whatsoever.

Just to add another response and echo what the others have said, it works for me just fine. No issues at all.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had no issues with mods after the last update, including this one.

I use the mod manager and all is working well, the mod manager has even assisted me in finding mod conflicts, I did also install your mod with it and so far so good.

Hey ! I have a problem :( The signals are all blurred (Like a bit unfocused) and it also change the german/american signals... But they are fine when I'm close to them (5m-15m)

I don’t think there’s anything I can do about that but this helps with visibility during the day. They aren’t really supposed to be zoomed in extremely with the camera, I designed them so they could be comfortably seen at ‘normal’ view. So from the cab of your train, whilst driving.

Sorry to ask again but can I get a confirmation everything is still working okay? Someone has claimed the mod has stopped working for them, so just want to make such how things currently stand. Thanks.

    Still the same, no changes.

I could add, though, that in some lighting conditions UK red and amber are disconcertingly similar.

I’ve tried to make them as clear as possible but in some cases, TSW’s lighting and exposure will affect how they look under some conditions.

I also want to retain their aspect colours to remain as close as possible to their real life counterparts, which are never just a basic looking green, yellow and red colour. This is what I’ve always hated about the default TSW aspect colours, as they don’t look realistic looking at all.

At night, there should be a clear difference between red and yellow (amber)

Right. Now, look at the center (red) image; the tone is if anything very slightly pink, if not a completely red-red 255/0/0.

The thing with the in-game red lights (as in the second and third pics in post #119) is that the summed effect of the pale center and red halo leans somewhat towards the orange side, and that can lead to confusion - especially on UK routes if you have passed one single yellow and really, really need to know what the next one is showing. On US and German routes it isn't such a big deal since American signals almost always show red and yellow together, and German reds are very distinct in arrangement from yellow vorsignalen.

I intentionally made the red a slightly pink tinge as during the day, it looks too close to orange/yellow. TSW is weird with colours, as when you pan the camera around/are moving, the actual colour can look slightly different vs when you are still. The sun/daylight also massively affects the colours it seems.

Regarding the pale center with incandescent signals, I believe this is due to the material of the lens in game. Ideally you should get the light/colour to 'highlight' the lens 'rings', which would help to identify the colours better from a distance. Something for DTG to improve, ideally.

At the end of the day, this isn't an official fix, as I'm limited with what I can do. However, I think we'd all appreciate a 'proper' upgrade/fix to the signalling visuals, so that all platforms can benefit from it. I'd love to see signal actually cast light onto nearby objects/walls/into the cab of your train etc., personally.

On my Alienware Gaming PC that my family purchased in 2021, your mod works well. Seen it worked perfectly there on ECML and on NEC Boston to Trenton what it did was make the Signals at NY Penn and Boston South Station brighter

How are blinking aspects currently working? Can they seen clearly or are they still steady?

For those wondering why the red LED signals look a bit pinkish, this is how they look in real life.

Also note, the middle of the signal actually looks white, white the surround having the colour shown, as per my mod.

Train Sim World 4 has recently had an update, which means I've had to update the mod.

Please re-download the mod and REMOVE the old one located in the DLC folder, prior to replacing it with this updated version.

    Download here

    Thanks :)

Just one thing that is not "working per se" not sure why, I attached images, the mod manger will see your mod in my downloads mod folder, and install it, but when I try to look and see that it is installed, it does not
Again thank you for ya hard work on this mod and the quick update. There is one odd thing when using the mod manager, I can see your mod and install it, but when go to look and see that it is indeed installed the mod manager does not show it.?

A few daytime shoots. I am guessing you added the halo effect to both night and daytime to make stand out more?

The updated mod definitely works exactly as it did before yesterday’s game update. I’ve been using it all day on all the ToDv4 routes and they all work flawlessly.

The mod manager is a nicety really and compatibility with it is not something mod makers have any control over. If you drop the .pak for the signal visuals into the DLC folder it works as intended, promise :)

I just was no.t sure if that was anything any modder could change, with the manager, I have been using it from day one and I do see a change pre and post 02-08/09-2024 TSW patch with londonmidland mod as well as with your mods.

I don’t even know what it is to be honest. There’s definitely nothing we can do to make things work or not work with it.

I’m not really sure of the point of it? Don’t you want all mods loaded each time you start the game?

    Sure of course I do!
as for the mod manager, it has assisted me in finding mod vs game conflicts, whether I put the wrong mod in the DLC folder causing an issue, or a mod is outdated, how the mod manager is built to interact with any mod I don't know, as to what any modder can or not do when creating a mod and have it interact a given way with the mod manager, again I don't know.
I have used the mod by londonmidland linked in this thread from day one it was created and I do see a difference from when it was first made and as of today after the TSW patch, the mod has made things. Now if there was a misunderstanding between londonmidland and me back in post# it has not been brought to my attention, my post was marked as Helpful and with this latest update, it reminded me to let londonmidland know what I was seeing when installing, and using the mod.

For what reason I bring up the mod manager?
It is because I don't know if A mod author needs to, or wants to know what is happening with their mod when such a tool that ("Taskplays" created) and is being used to install A mod. The best example between two mods that I see when installing and disabling a mod if and when needed.
This one is for TSW2 I understand this.
    upload_2024-2-9_14-33-2.png
And this one that I also just updated last night.

I’m not being critical, just saying that there’s nothing we collectively can do about it. You’ll have to go to the author of the mod manager and see if they can fix the issue. Hope that makes sense :)

I understand, I really do, and at times I can leave words out that are left in me head, "I say in me head but does not make it to paper sort of speaking" and as me not being sure of the how, what, why of it, I figured Let the mod author know, I welcome constructive criticism and civil healthy debates/discussions. Woo Hoo I got use the PC for half a day :)

Can I just state my apreciation for this mod, please! I would never have thought that this would make such a difference. Currently driving an IC through the wintery nights of LFR.

One question, though, would it be possible to make the same kind of visual change to the headlights of an oncoming train?! It always bothers me that you never see them until they are basically right next to you.

    Thanks for this great mod!

    Thanks!

I'm honestly not sure about train headlights. Though I'm sure there's some way to do it, just like I did the signals. You probably just have to make sure the light source doesn't go under one pixel. This is something the devs will have to figure out, however.

Thanks :) I struggle to play it with the vanilla visuals as the aspects are far too dim. Not to mention that horrible, low res flare visual - insert vomit emoji
