I recently purchased a game called Derail Valley which was released into Early Access this week. In the game they have a great way of providing instructions to players, which in my opinion is far more immersive than the arcade style of instruction in TSW. I'd like to see something like this in TSW as it's much closer to how railway operations are done in reality. You start by picking up a job booklet, this booklet provides instructions for the job that needs doing. It provides instructions on which cars need collecting, where from/to and whether they need to be loaded/unloaded etc: You then have a booklet with track maps for every yard/industry in the game. You go to the relevent page and it will show you which track is which. The items are objects in game, so you can place them where ever you like. So rather than having your view obstructed by the booklets, you can place them somewhere in the cab for easy reference: I think this would be a nice feature to have in TSW.
That’s what the upcoming play testing can help with. They will see how well new players can learn the game and take their feedback.
