For those who are interested, seems there is an updated MSFS incoming... Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: The Next Generation of the Legendary Franchise - Microsoft Flight Simulator Not sure on release date and whether it runs on my potato PC is another matter. However sounds like it's time to switch from buying Steam Wallet credit to MS/Xbox store credit!
It will be interesting as the current version works absolutely fine on my Xbox Series S, such a cheap entry level way into the game. Especially now we are starting to get some of the more detailed ‘study level’ aircraft. Even a Series X is a bargain at £450, surely console players are the market share so any new game would have to be able to run on the current Xbox consoles? All the console players need now is VR (hint hint Microsoft!)
Keep buying Steam Wallet credit and buy the Steam version of the game. It will run better than the MS Store version.
Flight simming these days is incredible, MSFS looks amazing. Still, I think there is still space for XPlane - I've always thought the physics in XPlane are more realistic, from GA to large airliners. ZIBO 737 VR is so close to reality, it's just superb. So I think one sim doesn't have it nailed, just like it is for us regarding train simming. Run8, DRS,openBVE have the best physics, the others have better graphics. I think I'm always leaning towards the better physics side of things! Will there ever be a sim that has it all? Looking forward to the new MSFS.
Problem with the Steam version is that you cannot then use MS Store credit to purchase from the Marketplace.
I had a VR for the PS4 and tried one for the PS5. Imo, it's not worth it. Unless you can use it for MSFS or other games (simulators, sorry)
Yeah I am surprisedMicrosoft seemingly have no interest in VR when they have developed the best game for it!
https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-faq/ "With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024." I was holding my breath from the announcement but with that news I can safely say I'm looking forward to the new MSFS. Asobo is really stepping up the authenticity with their sim updates, especially the avionics updates. I'm more than willing to pay for another set of robust (not study level, but perfectly serviceable) stock aircraft, updated scenery/weather, and a mission/job system with a multitude of roles you can fill as well as retaining my current library of payware and stock aircraft.
Im not seeing a reason to pay full price again for MSFS 2024 yet. Maybe they did not show everything, so I will keep watching.
I'm interested in all the interaction and people modelled with the new features, it is quite different from getting in a plane and flying and seeing no-one else.
As a Game Pass member, I’m surprised at how well the existing MSFS runs on my Xbox One via the cloud (not perfect but playable). I wonder therefore why it was 9th Gen only to purchase. They must have lost a lot of sales.
Figure I can necro my own thread… tl:dr on the flight sim forums, do we reckon this will actually appear this year and if so, when?
Wow, I thought I'd just been out of the loop, but there's been little update on this since the announcement trailer. Since it's pure speculation at this point, I'll say it'll release late October. That's banking on the "2024" part of the title holding true and they don't change it to MSFS 2025 lol
I'm switching to fs24 the second it drops, but sheesh am I wishing for a proper A380, because the Bredok3D is not cutting it.
Vern, might I suggest going with a SATA SSD instead? Since you're not in a rush, saving the extra few pound more and throwing MSFS on an SSD will immensely help load times.
Good point! Ideally i want a new PC to replace the current potato but the missus is playing hardball over that one.
Ouch. Just seen the price on Steam where it's up for pre-order - £70 just for the Standard Edition. £100 for Deluxe, Premium Deluxe £130 and there's even an Aviator Edition for £200. Ad we thought TSW was expensive...
Eh, still cheaper than what 125 loco DLC’s would cost you (125 being the number of aircraft in the £200 version). Over a 12 month period TSW could easily cost you just as much.
Oh not saying I won’t and in any event I need to address the hardware shortfall first. I’ve also got £30 sitting in my MS Store/XB Live account which could go towards that PC version rather than buying through Steam.
From the screen shots and videos I've seen it looks really good. I'll be getting it with gamepass. Didn't know I could use all my 2020 dlc with it which is a big bonus.
I’ll be buying on Steam, I really hate Microsoft’s UI both on PC & Xbox. There’s just something about it which is Blegh. Just FYI though depending on the edition you plan on getting, the more expensive ones have various paid aircraft, so if you don’t plan on using them all, it might be a good idea to work out which ones you do want & how much they’ll be separately.
