It looks like an average game for phones. No hate but the whole HUD is a little casual

As Simon Cowell would say on Pop Idol, "Well I'm afraid it is a no from me!"

Each to their own though. It doesn't directly affect or involve TSW so it doesn't concern me. But if people want to enjoy this sort of thing, then let them be and knock themselves out...

So this is a tycoon game with 'light simulation' - but it looks like it has a multiplayer racing element too. I like racing.

    Also that HUD looks awesome!

I think I'll pass for now.

Lmao that wasn't what i was expecting!

It looks REALLY dumb but maybe could be fun for a few minutes. I'll give it a download if it comes to gamepass at some point

Didn't a very similar game but with more cartoony graphics come out recently? Can't think of the name though

Honestly compared to the other train game, this game is quite bad

This looks quite fun actually, I'll wait and see if it turns out good. It's basically MTA Xtreme Racer. :D

Are you thinking of Denshattack, which was revealed but not released recently?

With a ton of respect for the amount of work that clearly went into the new game, I'm a little disappointed that this is the direction it's going -- I've been looking forward to a Subway route for years now, but I guess this is one of those "careful what you wish for" situations.

I know there's going to be a mode to "play objective-free, chill out and explore this unique take on the New York City," but I'm worried that it won't come with the same level of freedom and detail that TSW offers. More than anything, I hope this game doesn't mean that we won't be seeing any Subway routes in TSW (or metro-style routes as a whole).

Still, I'll keep an open mind. We'll see what happens.

Well if they can get permission from MTA to do that, then follow it up with a serious version of a Subway route for TSW.

    Hey folks,

Thank you for all the feedback so far. We are extremely excited for Metro Rivals to be finally out and in the open! I'm sure you will have a lot of questions, and you can expect to hear more from us very soon.
At 10 PM BST we'll share the full announcement video with more details, and tomorrow, at 4 PM BST you can watch the Spotlight Video, where JD interviews the producers and goes into much more detail.

    All the best,
    Jan

In there defence though they can’t put the NYC Subway in TSW anyway. It’s due to security reasons if I remember right…

So... They mentioned Lumen and Nanite is now being modified to work in UE5 and they used Simugraph from the TSW series. Could this mean that TSW will transition into US5 in the foreseeable future?

Sorry, but looks horrendous!! It’s a hard no from me.

But seriously it’s an arcade game rather than a serious sim so I was never going to be the target audience for it and I hope it does well for DTG. Just as long as they don’t neglect the serious rail fan community.

Matt Said This on the DC
the old routes would need to be trashed and rebuilt to work in ue5.

well, I have the feeling its not that type of game I like. A real NYC subway route would be fantastic (with also those typical announcements). But here: I dont like those kinds of challenges much and something deep in me tells further even the route/network will be more ....semifictive.

It’s a shame they couldn’t use the name they wanted, Track Titans, and they had to make it the Boss Cat of games, with a game name different to all the content. Would I play it? Maybe not. Although the only way I would likely play this game is if there is a fully featured sandbox mode for just driving properly, I do hope it is successful.

Now to the future of TSW. DTG have a history of testing the tech they want to put into their biggest product, the serious train sim, in other titles. So this may be a taste of what’s to come for the serious sim as this may not be just a new game for gamer types but also a full test title for the tech for whatever follows TSW in a couple of years from now. If it isn’t a test title and UE5 and/or multiplayer never comes to the serious sim (I have no reason to believe that UE5 wouldn’t) then that would be a bit of a shame.

Although there may be much more that could come to the current guise of TSW from third party creators, I think DTG and many players may be ready to move on. I don’t think there would be much of a leap for creators to move with DTG either. It is just another version of Unreal Engine and the skills for creation will be similar. Getting ahead of myself here though. There is the issue of existing content not being easily brought into the new title, like how TSC stuff can’t just come into TSW. It’s food for thought though. Why does this new game exist if it isn’t a test for what lies at the core of what DTG do? Could they really have a UE5 game for gamers and stick with UE4 for the flagship serious sim? I doubt it.

I don’t think one has anything to do with the other. This is for a different market than the hardcore sim players that focus on TSW.

And as mentioned the issue with a lot of realistic subway lines for TSW is the issue of security. The only way they’d get an MTA line is if it was completely fictional, and that wouldn’t go well here anyway.

I also hope they eventually get a few new subway lines, but the games are completely different focuses for different audiences (with some overlap) that shouldn’t impact each other.

I was priviliged to spend about 45 minutes playing the internal demo on our ambassador days and to be honest, I didnt think i was going to like it. But I loved it. Of course being an ambassador you will say DTG would have told me to say it. They havent. Its totally different to Train Sim World, Its NOT supposed to be train Sim World. So look at it from not a train Sim world angle, and enjoy it for what it is. You dont like it thats fine, Does it mean Dovetail have moved on from TSW ....not one bit. With UE5 engine and multiplayer its looking great from the demo I played.(just my humble opinion). I am looking forward to playing some Onlne Multiplayer with my YT members in a livesrtream.

Consider when TSC released. Consider when TSW released. A pattern may be about to form.

Honestly if you ask me, the lore's completely cringe, but the actual gameplay sounds fine, different, but could be fun. That said, the trailer showed nothing of substance of the game, and we have no clue how in-depth it is. If this game takes five hours to fully complete and there isn't the depth to it to make you want to comeback to it then we have a problem.

Also it really begs the question, what exactly is DTG planning to price for this title? For $10, $20, heck maybe $30 if this has a surprising amount of content this could actually be solid. But if they try and charge TSW DLC pricing, or god forbid actual triple A game pricing, which is what they do for TSW's three route package, then we have a massive problem here. The TSW crowd ain't gonna be interested in it, and outsiders aren't gonna be receptive to DTG's typical pricing strategies.

Maybe someone that is stupid or ill-informed would, but anyone that has looked into this stuff would be aware that isn't remotely how undue influence works. It's like assuming that the way politicians get bribed is by openly handing each other stacks of cash openly labeled "BRIBE MONEY". The influence doesn't even need to be obvious to people like you, it can effect people subconsciously. A obvious example would be that if you get a free review copy you may not factor that in the same way someone else who did pay would.

£45 isn't AAA pricing these days, add another 15-25 and you're about there

Would much rather they fix some of the very many bugs in TSW (many that are years old) rather than worry about a new game to be honest.

But I may well be in the minority there!

They can do both. Making a new game doesn’t take away from fixing issues in another game. It’s usually different people/teams working on both with only some overlap.
