Yet, DTG still made one of the best US freight locomotives in the BNSF GE ES44C4, but turned around and threw out the out of era ATSF F7, and the "It can't lead cause it doesn't have an ISO cab + it doesn't work with the ES44" BNSF SD70ACe.

IMO DTG let's the SD70ACe get too much of them, and it also seems to be one of the worst loco's barring the default Sherman Hill one.

The Union Pacific Heritage Unit pack was and still is an awful mess of paints and bugs that DTG still refuses to fix to this day. Paint error and headlight issues still plague it and no one want to fix it (Not even modders on PC).

On the contrary, DTG freight cars are some of the better cars made too. lets look at the Maxi IV for Cajon, another great piece of work that, like the ES44C4, probably gets overlooked due to the poor scenery quality of Cajon Pass itself. Though with the BNSF SD70ACe, they made the out of era and terrible TOFC car with that pack.

DTG needs to figure out what goes right on some of these routes, and what has gone wrong, and find the correct balance.

And we can't rely on High Iron Simulations for good US freight content, as look over at TSC and how may arguments start over their content. (Especially with DTM modeling rolling stock)

I‘d rather have an unbranded route or train than nothing at all. But I understand that missing branding breaks the immersion for many players.

This is exactly my point. If everyone switched to this mindset of 'full branding or no route' then either the entire sim would need to change to 25+ year old settings only, or the life of TSW would just end tonight. Such ultimatums are what led to the total stagnation of US freight.

As for how someone can care this much, I'm struggling not to call this out as just baiting engagement. I'm giving OP the benefit of the doubt for the moment, but this being their first post plus conveniently ignoring posts like ours which say a lot against their position, yet happily responding to others where they can reinforce their position, appears that way.

There is no point in discussing the history of DTG here. I just want to ask DTG a question: When will you resume US cargo? If DTG still says these nice things, then please open the UK route first. I want to see the route from London to Edinburgh or Glasgow. It's that simple.

Another thread about the lack of branding...
Reminds me a lot about people complaining about programming on TV channels. You don't like it, don't watch it. Watch something else.

    "Majorly changed?"
A single logo changes and it ruins the other 99.9% of the route and trains?
    That's a HUGE claim.
I weep to think of all that you must miss out on from such minor agitations in life.

How many people would quit TSW entirely if there were no "real" logos at all, and just make believe ones? I play ATS/ETS (American Trush Simulator/Euro Truck Simulator) and the locos are made up companies. It doesn't "break immersion" at all for me. It makes it better in some ways.

I certainly never thought the game was "broken and unplayable" simply because the imaginary signs were a little more imaginary.

Does it really "ruin the game" if you deliver parts to "Car Zone" instead of "Auto Zone?"

    Looks fine to me.

If instead of LNER they had NELR in the same colors, would it REALLY "ruin your game" and make it "unplayable?"

Not unplayable, but would make it really hard to ignore, as it makes it feel less real and reduces immersion, a key part of the game. As I have said above I would prefer no branding, as per the 350, rather than fictional branding, like the 484 or as you say here completely made up company names.

"No branding" runs into complications such as .... paint.
Scotrail for example is a very complete paint job as part of the loco.
What color would a 170 on Fife Circle be?
Would it still be that signature blue with accents?
Or would all rolling stock just be a solid color like red, white or blue?
That's why I suggested "off branding" because you can have a similar color palette for the "feel" but then have some fun with the actual logo/name. Some of them are even a bit cheeky as an inside joke.
With all the creative people making liveries as it is, I'm sure quite a few parodies would pop up as suggestions.
Or even some "what ifs" like they do in the "Boys" TV show... where old defunct companies are kept alive in a "what if they didn't go bankrupt" alternate history.

In that case I would genuinely prefer other options be looked at, such as previous TOCs who ran the route or take it back to the days of BR. A fictional livery and branding is the absolute worst case scenario for me.

You seriously think an unbranded white locomotive would be SO bad it's "like roblox?"
    Seriously?
So if you can't buy brand name tires for your car is "undrivable" too?
Does using store brand bread make your sandwich "inedible?" ;-)

I'd have no problem with all British stock being a variant of the "Blue" or "Green" =-)
Just imagine they never privatized it.....

As long as they had this:

    or this:

on the side than I would have no problem either.

One potential glimpse at such a thing, from a Roblox game:
    RobloxScreenShot20240904_224115790.png
Debranded and to an extent simplified. The debranding was actually recent though, it used to have a fictional branding but they recently debranded the whole game to be on the safe side of DfT and other TOCs. Previously it featured a similarly mildly tweaked version of the Scotrail logo, but with Scotrail substituted for FourthRail, that game's primary fictional operator.

I will say that in something built to such vivid detail as TSW, I can see why people wouldn't want a livery to be effectively dumbed down like this. However in the case of the Island Line, if the options were fictional branding or nothing, I would still choose fictional branding.

That looks fine to me. Again, 90% of people wouldn't even notice the difference....

Maybe it was only a verbal permission? Only it's slightly odd that one party to a contract agreement could withdraw at the very last minute. I would suggest DTG get it done properly on paper next time.

Isn't this a little overblown? Matt has said on stream that DTG won't work on routes until the licensing team secures licenses, the fact that the 350 was shown off branded tells me that the license was secured. For reasons that we don't know (nor should we know, we don't want DTG airing dirty laundry and spooking other license holders now do we?) the license is now invalid. Remember that during the changeover the 350 ran unbranded and the stations weren't branded. My personal headcannon is that we're back in that era with this route.

It's not ideal, I'll grant that, but having the route, the pendolino and the 350 is far more important to me than having the logo. I'm sure the licensing team are as disappointed as everyone and will be working their hardest to make sure that something like this doesn't happen again. Can we please support them and thank them for the hard work that they put in to secure so many licenses so that we can play with real trains on real routed?

If DTG cant get access to license for RR s or equipment. use then there will be lots of disappointment ..this will keep a lot of good things away from being in TSW ..seems licencing becoming more of a issue for DTG ..People might actully want to rethink their stance on not wanting unbranded trains in TSW ..at some point in future it may have to be accepted to have unbranded trains in order to get routes and content variety in all countries

For the majority of people who complain, most TOCs probably know people’s overall views on the trains in this country and how they’re run so having it in a simulation, they’ve got to protect their property, naturallty. Unlike their German cousins with DB who run a somewhat decent network of trains

This is exactly my point 1 of my main reasons of liking the game is cos real life things r in the game if they go down a fictional route ide never support that , if I baught the game knowing it's fictional that's a different story I wouldn't expect licensed stuff at all but since this is not a fictional type game then it all should be licensed first

They clearly did have time to remove it hence why the preview stream didn't have any licensing

I agree not unplayable but for me it's impossible to ignore seeing them trains and signs knowing wot they r supposed to look like and making me think in not playing the right game , would annoy me far too much so I might only use the avanti and hope I'm going too fast to notice anything else
