If you access the store page from the steamdeck, there's no way to install the free starter edition, just the three purchase options. If i access the store page from a tablet it does show the option.
Thank you for reporting. I just tested this out on my own Steam Deck and can't find the Free Starter Pack either. Have reported this to our Retail Team, which is investigating and getting in touch with Valve. EDIT: I just tried to open the Steam store in Desktop Mode and was able to find the Free Starter Pack there. Still, will catch up with Valve to see what the issue is. All the best, Jan
Ah, I'll try switching to desktop mode on it and seeing what that does! I can always grab it when I next bother to turn on my ancient pc but just wanted to give the heads up in case there are people with just a steamdeck who give up because there's no option.
Good morning chrism#4685 Valve has gotten back to us overnight, and they will ask their devs to look into this as it seems to be a bug on their end. For now, switching to Desktop Mode is a reliable workaround. All the best, Jan
Thanks! Managed to download if in desktop mode and got it running! The only problem I've found with it is on the pause menu, L1/R1 skip two options at a time so you have to use the touchscreen. It didn't seem to happen straight after starting a service but a few minutes after i started driving and wanted to fiddle with the settings. Overall though I'm happy with everything so far!
