Route Suggestion: Nordbahn / REX1 – Wiener Neustadt to Břeclav + ÖBB Desiro ML With Train Sim World 7 bringing more new content, I would really love to see more modern Austrian routes and trains in Train Sim World. My suggestion would be the REX1 / Nordbahn corridor from Wiener Neustadt Hbf via Vienna to Břeclav, including the Vienna S-Bahn main line (Stammstrecke). Route Wiener Neustadt Hbf – Wien Meidling – Wien Hbf – Wien Mitte – Wien Praterstern – Wien Floridsdorf – Deutsch Wagram – Gänserndorf – Hohenau – Bernhardsthal – Břeclav This would offer a great mix of different railway environments: High-speed and regional sections The very busy Vienna S-Bahn main line Vienna Hauptbahnhof Dense suburban traffic around Vienna Rural sections through Lower Austria International operation between Austria and the Czech Republic Passenger and freight traffic Many possibilities for layers from existing and future Austrian content ÖBB REX1 One of the main services could be the REX1, providing a long regional service through Vienna and along the Nordbahn. A Taurus with ÖBB double-deck coaches would be a fantastic train for this route and could also be useful on future Austrian routes. ÖBB Cityjet – Siemens Desiro ML The train I would especially love to see is the ÖBB Siemens Desiro ML Cityjet, particularly the ÖBB classes 4744 and/or 4746. The Desiro ML has become one of the most recognisable modern ÖBB trains and would make a fantastic addition to Train Sim World. The Desiro ML would also have huge potential beyond this route because it operates on many services throughout Austria. Additional traffic Possible traffic could include: ÖBB Taurus ÖBB Railjet ÖBB Cityjet / Desiro ML ÖBB Talent Double-deck regional trains Nightjet and EuroCity services Freight trains Vienna S-Bahn services Czech trains around Břeclav With the upcoming ÖBB Expert Railjet, having another modern Austrian route would also give that train another environment in which it could be used. Why this route? Austria currently has much less representation in Train Sim World than countries such as Germany or the UK. The Nordbahn and Vienna area could provide something very different: dense commuter traffic, regional trains, international services, long-distance trains and freight all on the same route. I would also really love to see fully functional exterior/door surveillance cameras. The monitors in the driver’s cab should display actual live camera feeds from the exterior cameras, allowing the player to monitor the platform and passenger exchange during station stops. Having the correct camera views for the respective side of the train would add a huge amount of realism and immersion, especially when driving without the HUD. I think the combination of the Nordbahn, REX1 and Desiro ML could become one of the most varied Austrian experiences in Train Sim World.
I had made a couple suggestions on this a while ago: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wien-wiener-neustadt.89902/ https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/austrian-core-loco-pack.89899/
This idea might sound all well and good, but I can guarantee you that the consoles won’t be able to handle it. For TSW 6 on PC, there’s a mod for a train that incorporates exactly these features. And even on a very powerful PC, you can see the FPS plummet.
