found this interesting layer which if we are getting the 170 with 158, it would make better value for money
I doubt Rivet will make a 170 for Skyhook's 158 pack. It'll just be the services normally ran by 170s irl being run by the 158 when it releases
That's exactly what it is, as was explained on the livestream preview. Interestingly though the 158 doesn't sub in place of 150 and 195 because apparently the 158 and 170 share similar diagrams (or something like that). But honestly I really don't think a 158 instead of a 150 is that big of a deal, and I've personally seen 158s on Nottingham/Lincoln diagrams before and clips of them on York to Blackpool North services...
Given we already have the 170 in game and a northern licence, I don't understand why this sub is required. Surely a new livery for that wouldn't be too much work. Are licences given for specific rolling stock only?
Sometimes. Some operators seem to be "make whatever you want" and others seem restrictive. Given Northern's about to go from one to four trains I'd bet on the former. It'll be down to Rivet's interest. The 170 is their work and if they want to sell it (again) they can, otherwise it won't come. They won't be able to package it with a new timetable this time (well, they could, but that would just be annoying) and it's basically a reskin so the financial return wouldn't be overly amazing if I had to guess.
