From the pic it does seem like SPG is required, perhaps CJP is optional? I also seem to remember that the loco will sub in from HSC. And of course we already know LIRR with M3 available to sub.

DTG JD Just noticed that NEC Boston Providence is not getting the new lighting model and Volumetric fog. Same for Sherman Hill. I'm confused
Is this a typo?I was under the impression Boston and Sherman hill had received the TOD 4 lighting and Volumetric skies

For that they would need to open these routes and tick the "volumetric fog" checkbox. Can you imagine the workload that would require? Not to mention, it would take years for them to find a release slot for the patch!

Hi everyone! Apologise for bumping this thread but i think it's the most suited thread to answer my curiosity.
In terms of playability, is New York-Trenton working as intended? (Signalling & safety systems.)
Just getting this route recently, cheers.

Short answer is no. There have been numerous posts about signaling issues in this route such as this one: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/nyt-please-consider-improving-signals-too.69875/

    W
ith the upcoming timetable update and changes to scoring for safety system use in TSW4, my prediction is that playability will only get worse unfortunately.

That's my fear as well. If the update actually releases for TSW3, then I might get the route. But knowing their track record, who knows how broken it will be with the new timetable. I am still hoping it ends up good, as I wanted to get this route since the beginning, but one has to be really cautious nowdays.

I guess it’s probably a bit subjective, but yeah it is possible to be on time with a good majority of the services on the route outside of rush hour because of the inherent schedule padding for both Amtrak and NJT, but if you base it on pure realism, I would not call it fine.

Crawling at 15-20 mph in approach of NY Penn (and sometimes at Newark and Trenton too) or being knocked down to 45 mph for no apparent reason around Metropark (even if not crossing over to another track or following another train) makes no sense to me from a signaling perspective and it’s only going to get worse when you start adding all the services that are missing right now. I find myself cutting in and cutting out the safety systems repeatedly depending on where I’m at on the route just to get a sense that my train is moving the way it should be…

If you truly know how the signaling system is supposed to work, then your opinion would change.

I've been driving this route with safety systems on, and it mostly works well.
There may be times when you are delayed for no apparent reason (yellows, but no trains).
Just don't load any saves, though. Something went terribly wrong when I did that, and I ended up in traffic jam at NY Penn.

All the thousands of hours of play time and time I’ve spent purposely delaying trains to get a “backed up” effect. I’m very knowledgeable of how the signals work. Not including time watching all the editor streams over the years. Just saying lol. I have none of the issues most of you folks have. There’s a reason. Anyways, I guess I know nothing

You realize you're talking to one of the people that made the route right? The person that is also currently making the new timetable for it.

Joe is making the timetable. Cactusjuice is the signaling expert.

Actually, running without ATC will allow you to run the services on time. There’s an ATC/dispatch issue around the Metropark area. Will get a 45 cab from New Brunswick until Metropark even without trains ahead on your line. Still doesn’t present any game breaking red signals.
I’m not saying I know more than the professionals. I just don’t have the issues everyone seems to complain about.

Awesome! Haven’t ran the route since May. Been focused on UK routes since then. I’ll be switching back once TSW4 drops.

It was reported fixed but I have definitely still gotten the signal drop even after installing the relevant patch.

Not saying you know nothing, but I am shocked you haven't noticed a lot of what the others have. Anyway, i didnt script this route's signal system...only Boston.

Brandon, any idea whether DTG might let you (or anyone) do a preview stream of the timetable revision in the next few weeks?

Probably not. To be honest I have been so busy with this current project that I have barely even touched the new timetable.

At least from my experience on PC, this has not been fixed.
I just ran westbound timetable services 79 and 3943 - both of which bypass Metropark on track 3. There was no traffic reasonably close up ahead (the wayside signals also showed clear), but still the cab signals dropped to approach medium 45 even though there was no switching of tracks for those services.

To me it makes perfect sense that the patches are releasing later to TSW3 than to TSW4. The patches will require Q/A and beta testing on both games and if you are DTG you don't want to split your resources on your previous game and your next game right before launching your next game.

If you're DTG, why bother spending resources on TSW3 at all?

Since TSW3 content is moving to TSW4 and still needs fixed that's why there bothering. But the catch here is you have to pay for TSW4 to get more TSW3 fixes and getting current TSW3 players to pony up for the next game is how you do that and why.

But it was hinted in the most current matt stream that TSW3 might get a few more fixes before TSW4 release, well see.

I stumbled on this intriguing flaw / glitch when playing the Northeast Regional 134 timetable service.
I captured it on video, don't worry, there are timestamps / chapters to make it easy to navigate.
Here's the link in case the video embed stops functioning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVzIhSjLb0Q

The full breakdown is in the video description, so I'll give an abridged / TLDR explanation here.
When passing Metropark, Keystone 652 is held at ISELIN interlocking. This doesn't make sense because the train is supposed to go ahead of you. This only happens when you play 134 too.

When you get to Newark Penn, Acela 2172 bound for Boston is boarding on Track 3 (typically used for Westbounds). It too is supposed to depart ahead of you & diverge onto Track 2. However, the switches align for YOUR train (NER 134) which causes it to delay the westbound Northeast Regional 137 which is scheduled to use track 3. Also, your early arrival into Newark, delays 652 which catches a stop signal at DOCK interlocking (west end).

I show it from the perspectives of 134, 2172 & On Foot. It's weird how even though your train is theoretically supposed to wait for others, the tracks get aligned for your train which causes other trains to be delayed. Well 134 wouldn't exactly "wait" for 652, 652 should've already been on its way to Newark & New York before you even reach Metropark. Moreover, in real life, I think 137 would've been routed onto Track 4 rather than be forced to wait at DOCK interlocking.

Do we know if the new timetable drops tomorrow with the early access launch of TSW4 OR with the official game release on the 26th?
