My suggestion relies on this forum rule in the Train Sim World Forum Rules thread:

Before denying beforehand, let me at least explain a few things about this suggestion even tough we are a community of all nations here (and this is a great thing by the way) and english should be generally used only, so that everybody understand what one is saying and can reply to it.

Since Dovetail Games is providing lots of Germany-based (and since early also Austria/Switzerland-based) content, it's quite a common wish of the german/austrian/swiss based players that german should be allowed in the forums.

In the livestreams I saw a lot of people feel annoyed by the fact that the Forum is english-only. While many of german indeed can speak english quite fluently, others may have problems with it and thus avoid from joining into the DTG Forum, which is a bad thing for both sides I think.

We german-speaking people are not so many here and it would be nice to be able to have more persons to talk with here. But on the other side, also Dovetail Games loses a maybe important portion of costumers or potential costumers with that.

And I of course do not mean all forums to be allowed to use german. For example, for the most forums it simply does not make sense to be german-allowed because discussions would go completely off between 2 languages. And also as a negetative side effect, the developersof Dovetail Games (which for the majority do not speak english) cannot understand what we say, maybe complain about but also ideas to improve the gameplay.

Therefore it makes sense that english is only allowed there.

    But!!!

Recently with the introduction of the PC Editor in TSW4 and the newly created PC Editor Forum things have changed or let's say are a bit different in there.

It's not only a personal assumption of mine that - due to the majority of german/austrian creations planned or in developement there - the PC Editor Forum has become almost like the "german corner" many people always wanted.

If you take a look into the threads at this forum, you can see that a lot of people already talk german with each other there. And you know what? I'm sorry to say that but it simply does make sense, because if two or more people speaking the same language about german things but officiallly are bound to talk english only, just will starting to speak in their mother language at least at some certain point in the discussion (also because it's such a big obstacle to get to a specific point to say or to explain).

And this is exactly what happens in the PC Editor Forum now here and there.

And since the german developers and employees already talked answered questions in german in the Maintalbahn livestream as well (which makes sense for the hundreds of questions in german which were raised there), I think it makes sense to finally officially let us talk german in the PC Editor Forum at least.

Now that we have a german moderator with dtg_jan, the last sentence of the forum rule "Non-English posts will be removed as we do not have the resources to translate comments in a timely fashion." also should be not up to date anymore as he can understand what we write there and can proof whether it is violates the forum rules or not.

So, that's my suggestion. At least for the PC Editor forum, where so many german people come together and talk with each other about the german/austrian/swiss topics, it would make sense to not be bound to always and ever use english-only.

By the way, a compromise to my suggestion also could be the following (my changes are with underlines):

Basically to provide a translation in english, if one wants to write in german.

Again, it's such a big obstacle sometimes when several german speaking peiple want to communicate about even german thing but are bound to use english only. Some words even hardly can translated correctly and there is the potential of a lot of unnecessary misconfusion.

    Thanks for reading.
