As parcels were a large part of BR traffic in the 80's I think that would be a interesting addition to the TPE route. The BG's could be used to save new stock being made, although it would be great if some GUV's were made too. An class 31 would be very suitable traction too, although the existing class 47 (and class 40 if that is indeed what is being provided) could be utilised instead or as well as. It would create some extra traffic to the route and some interesting scenario potential. The upcoming class 08 could be utilised shunting the vehicles into parcels bays etc so would provide some interest around the larger stations. Also it would add some interest to night time traffic too.
I think now that they have service layering working in game we may well see more units released and more traffic on the various lines. Doesn't fix underlying issues, but a busier places looks a bit better
I'm not familiar enough with 1980's British Rail operations to know what the differences are between these and what you're suggesting, but doesn't NTP have a couple of Travelling Post Office services already?
It might do, maybe I have missed them?! I have spent quite a bit of time on NTP in service mode and have seen rakes of BG's in sidings but not noticed any out on the mainline. I shall peruse the service mode menu this evening and look for them.
