Oh very nice, was it nice to see an Azuma during the day for once rather than early morning or early evening
Yep it usually does an ECS move to sit in Glasgow for an hour idk why but usually happens for two weeks every two months
Yeah it does an ECS from Edinburgh after coming from London on 1S04 then goes back to Edinburgh to form 1E21 to London I believe
Interesting, didn't know that. I didn't know either the Azuma or the Pendilino ran through there? Any idea where Avanti go to after Newton? Is it just a connection to the WCML/ECML?
It’s just a connection to the wcml but azumas usually do an ECS move so it doesn’t take up a platform at Waverley
Here is my ranking of your photos: 1st. HST at GLQ 2nd. 390121 at GLC 3rd. Azuma and Pendolino at GLC Joint 4th. 390119 at GLC and 88 on the flask train
Yeah, I feel like some railfans don't understand how special the HST is. For example; They're the fastest diesel, they look really good, and now a good portion of them have been dismantled or scrapped.
Modernisation and the IETs are part to blame for that, if it wasn't for the IET family, the HSTs would still be going strong along the GWML and ECML, sad the HSTs have moved from long-distance services (except if you're CrossCountry) to regional services
Couldn't agree more, the CrossCountry's are very rare so it's still essentially once in a blue moon a HST is running. As much as I like the IET's, they can stay out the HST's way.
45 year old trains vs 5 year old trains, I share the same opinion, give the old girls one more jaunt along the lines they are famous for, that way everyone can give the HST the sendoff it deserves and everyone will be happy
I don't think I've seen that livery before. To be fair, I haven't been on the underground since pre COVID so what do I know.
Was looking for a photo on Google for an LNER Class 800 at Glasgow and yea, they are very very rare. Couldn't find a decent photo of one
The 458 sneaking in there , rare to see a Ferrari on the streets unless you are at a car meet or by chance you see one
I remember when I was younger I went on a train to girvan with my grandparents and we stopped. And we were sat for around 10 minutes while the driver honked the horn because apparently there was a sheep on the line. Eventually the driver and conductor got out and starting shooing it themselves. Eventually they got the sheep to move and we ended up in girvan 30 Mins Late
There’s 4 freight trains back to back at Holytown on Saturday plus the Alcans are running with a 37 OMG gum so happy
Ik, partly why I chose it. I'm going on the West Highland Line (Fort William-Mallaig West Coast Railways Jacobite Service) next Easter. Hopefully I'll get some good photos!
I asked for it, you answered with some fantastic photos especially the second one, l-r 397, two 156s, 385 and a Dusty
