I think it's just dev time that would be the issue (along with getting clearance from 4 national railways as well as Eurotunnel & Eurostar)

Also would need TVM, ETCS as well as UK, French, Belgian & Dutch Classic signalling. It's probably a bit over ambitious

Yes ! The fly-wheeler darling of light rail - indeed...!

Actually - there is a potential here for partnership projects between Parry People Movers and DTG.... Imagine if DTG were hired to model a bunch of Beeching-axed lines that are now candidates for re-instatement... and they could slap the 139 right in there, along with a Pacer, a tram-train.... and all sorts of other stuff. And then they could make a Dragon's Den show, to choose the succesful scheme..... YES...! Do this...! LOL... ;-)

I haven't got a specific complete route in mind but for me it would have to be a terminus to a terminus. Preferably both passenger and freight. I hate it when I arrive at a station and see tracks heading off into the distance and then to be told "Get off now, that's as far as you're going".

Especially if it's backdated a little to include the "tramway" at Weymouth that runs down the roads to the quay. ;)

That's actually a better idea than I would have thought. It might be a good way to convince the government for some lines, with the new Beeching Reversal fund.
Actually, for a couple of months at least, the branch is still there and 'open'. There might be one or two Network Rail trains that go down there as well.

I would love to see the Amtrak Downeaster. I live near the northern terminus in Brunswick Maine. The route is along Pan Am Railways trackage and MBTA near north station. The route goes from Brunswick Maine to Boston North Station. (Would love to see this in TSW) I also would like to see the Rockland Branch. Witch goes from Rockland Maine to Brunswick Maine. Owned by the Maine DOT the Rockland Branch is operated by Maine Central and Quebec. (And Amtrak will do a pilot program during one weekend this summer) DB73C0C8-03E5-4494-A5E2-90E25D85EBAD.jpeg ED5EC2DB-BD0F-4D09-80B1-9E151EFBAB58.jpeg

It could be the full route it’s only about 240miles for the Downeaster. And it’s about 60miles for the Rockland Branch. I hope these do this routes!

For me it would be the Tokaido Shinkansen From Tokyo to Shin-Osaka, then the same line continues as Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Hakata. The full length is 1069kms. With all 3 services... Kodama, Hikari and Nozomi

Probably the Bergen line, together with the extension to Flåm. Such a beatiful scenic route through nice green valleys and rough mountain terrain!

If you want a taste of it, this channel is running livestreams of the routes, really great to watch.

    My choices are:
Sherman Hill UP route (aka the Laramie Sub)
    BNSF Marias Pass
    An NS route
A CSX route in Florida (With Florida Tri Rail)
Bright line/ Virgin Trains USA with FEC freight trains
    Seattle SOUNDER commuter rail Seattle-Tacoma
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner LA-San Diego (with MetroLink OC line as MetroLink loco add on)
    COASTER Commuter Rail San Diego-Oceanside
    Minnesota Northstar Target Field-Big Lake
    UTA Frontrunner Ogden-Provo
TSW’s First Mexican route (maybe a subway route?)
    GO transit
    AMT commuter rail
    Trinity Railway Express Dallas-Fort Worth
    Virginia Railway Express
UP/BNSF Cajon Pass in San Bernardino

I guess that’s pretty much it, I’m a fan of North American routes:)

For me I prefer it to San Diego so DTG can model 3 commuter railroads in 1 route! COASTER and MetroLink OC/IEOC lines could be modeled, but up to Goleta/San Luis Obispo is just as good, they could model the Ventura County Line as well:)

I’ll be afraid that’s a bit too long for TSW, maybe it could be narrowed down to about 70 miles (I would personally like it to be around 100, but too bad we’ll have to pay a lot more for it)? The most interesting parts of the route could be made in TSW:)

Over a short distance your approximation method might be right. So if OSD takes 6.3Gb over 24 miles, then 20 miles might be 5.4Gb...., if OSD is a typicaly dense route, with predictably unique assets per mile.

But when you extend this to 2100 miles, the space required is unlikely to be (2100/24) x 6.3 Gb = 551 Gb

2000 miles of that route won't just be relatively empty - it will also contain repeated assets thousands of times over, that only need to be stored once on the SSD/HDD. I'd estimate that such a route would take up a lot of space... but something more like 75Gb. Maybe 100Gb. Could be as low as 50Gb. But absolutely not getting on for 600Gb. The bulk of the data will be unique assets, not the position of those assets - even over 2100 miles, or maybe 20,000 map tiles....?

And in any case, OSD is a bad example, as it contained a huge amount of content that could not be used, and was designed, apparently, to not be seen.... ;-O

Cost is another thing. Who of us is willing to pay $ 100 for a route?.
And the the length would then be maybe 100 miles depends whether it is in the countryside or in the city.
Just now dovetail take 1 dollar/miles (or more) for a route.
If the dovetail take 100-200 dollar for a "long" route. then the risk is great that it is shared free.
So Ts2020 for long routes and TSW for short routes a long time ahead I think.
They must come up with a better technology to make cheap routes before we see longer routes

I wrote this earlier in this topec.
Cost and time is another thing. Oakville Subdivision is 24 miles. Cost 30 dollar
Chicago-Los Angeles is 2100 miles and should then cost 2000 dollar or more to buy
And should take several years to produce.
So much space in hard drive and a a fortune to buy.
We must hope Microsoft doing trainsim in future so it easier to do routes than now

It would be a case of about time makes me piss amount of times sprinters/pacers requested those always ignored and always foreign routes prioritised when you look at tsw as whole more foreign than British routes for sure

Well it is Train Sim World - Personally I'd like more foreign stuff. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

On that note - Zentralbahn - Narrow Gauge, Rack Railway, Swiss, Scenic - What's not to like ;)

All TSW content is and will be available on console. There was only one route made that didn’t make it to console because it was the first route made, CSX Heavy Haul and couldn’t be successfully ported across. Now all TSW content is made for both PC and consoles.

Yes - I agree with this main point. It's one thing to make a game in a relatively niche area of interest (although everyone loves trains, really...), and then another to make it exclusive to relatively wealthy people (and charge $30 for a single DLC).... but it takes it to another level to focus all of your effort on just one country/region/route, and then charge $100, $1000, $10,000 or $100,000. And if it is also broken and buggy upon release, then anyone that has paid $100,000 would be even more upset about the quality - because they are probably using it to train real drivers.

In short, I think that keeping routes fairly short (and below 50 miles) isn't such a bad idea, if it means you get a bit of variety with routes/countries and interesting curation of locomotive types and methods of operation.

It is, of course, much easier to make longer routes in TS1 because you can't get out of the train and walk up to every detail and have a look. St Paul's Cathedral is visible on South London Network... but if you do free camera it over to the building, then you will discover it is just a 2D drawing on a "card cut-out" - it might actually be one of Wren's original elevations - it looks familiar to drawings that I have seen in the past.....And this is absolutely fine, because from London Bridge, it looks just fine.

If I had to choose only one... It would definitely be from Hamm (Westf) - Aachen Hbf!
You can go on 2 different routes.

    1. Hamm (Westf) via Hagen, Wuppertal, Cologne to Aachen or
    2. Hamm (Westf) via Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne to Aachen.

Up to 3 hours of driving wether it's partially or complete. There's a lot of variation on those routes and much to see.
I would spend my lifetime driving only on this routes because of the connection to where I spend more than 20 years of living in this area and riding the trains in real life to both directions.

You would be busy for a whole week to line up all the trains going on this routes! :D

    That's my dream!

Despite DTG informed this not be possible,....I would like:
    - Germany: Koln to Frankfurt - Both for ICE high speed, and the regular route through the scenic Rhin river area
    - UK: London to Manchester
    - France: Paris to Lyon Both TGV and IC trains routes.
    - Switzerland: Zurich to Geneva
    - USA: Amtrak: Pacific Surfliner L.A. to Sand Diego / California Zephyr San Francisco to Chicago.
Heavy freight trains: Any route or part of it, with at least 200 kms. It has to be interesting for driving the train. Some challenges must be there!

[QUOTE = "NJT Railfan, post: 48692, membre: 5070"] Postez vos réponses dans les commentaires! J'aimerais voir la ligne Hudson sur un itinéraire complet pour ce match. Le paysage serait très joli. [/ QUOTE]
