Firstly, I’d say that anyone buying the DLC in question isn’t really showing support or solidarity for LGBT people, they are simply buying a pack with train liveries. They can if they wish feel like it is supporting those people but it really isn’t. Both the train companies and DTG are the ones showing support by featuring the rainbow liveries, not people travelling on the trains in real life or buying the DLC showing them in a sim. If players wish to support LGBT charities they should give the money directly to those charities and not buy themselves a DLC for a train sim and then expect that the gaming company could then be persuaded to give some of the proceeds to the charities.

DTG have done their bit by potentially raising awareness in the train sim community, by not shying away from featuring the liveries due to politics, and maybe more importantly by actually employing people from the LGBT community when other gaming companies may not. They have a great diversity policy. If they want to do more they can but they shouldn’t be expected to by anyone for any reason.

Having said that, this thread was just started as a suggestion based on a conversation two people had and it shouldn’t be such a big deal that it has been suggested.

I must admit before I read the post I was expecting a "being shoved down my throat" sort of post so I apologise for that. I think it's a great suggestion of yours and one I support 100%

Not because they are straight, but life wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for straight people either.
A train livery is a train livery. That's all it is.

Basic answer would be "yes of course", but the answer would be long and convoluted to get there
Much easier to answer about those who don't fall under the "straight banner" because it's easier to persecute those who don't fall under the banner "normal" in current or recent society

With all due respect, injustice is everywhere. As I've said, I don't judge people by their orientation, just by their deeds. It does appear to me that non-straight people (like to) declare themselves as victims - there is just as much evil on either side, be it straight or queer. Everyone is special - so no one is.

That wasn't because they were straight.

Until everyone is treated equally, no one is equal.

    This just isn't true.
A critical mass of people is required for there to be endemic or built in "evil" (prejudice)
If there are very few people who fit into a specific subset of people, and a very small percentage of people who will act on prejudice generally then you have a tiny amount of people in minorities who have the capacity to "be evil" whereas if a small percentage of the majority wants to "be evil" then you end up with the Republican Party

I've come across prejudice from all kinds if people toward all kinds of characteristics. It's just how humans are. All I'm saying is I do not like categorizations and the "pride" thing. But that is just my opinion - do as you like.

I wonder who made the sockpuppet to post this, rather than doing so on their main account, and why?

Gosh... Has we really come to a point where you can't even show your support to the LGBTQ community, because you either offend anti-LGBTQ people or LGBTQ supporter themselves? Sorry, but this proposal is ridiculous. Saying they should offer 20% of their income from this DLC to LGBTQ related charity is like saying they should offer 20% of the money from every DLC to the given railroad company.

They offer you a product and based on the characteristics of the product, you can choose to buy it or not. If you buy it, why should they give away the money coming in from it? You bought it because you want a rainbow striped ICE3. If you want to support charity besides that, then do it yourself. But expecting them to do it is ridiculous.

I mean someone at DTG is clearly pushing for these symbols to be in the game, seeing the several rainbow trains now and things like the trans flag container on Sherman Hill. Someone is passionate about this, trying to support the LGBTQ community with these tiny efforts. And now you would penalize them for doing this by saying they should give away a certain percentage of the money?

Hello everyone, I am just going to stop the thread here to prevent it from being taken too far off-topic.

I can understand what the original message is trying to propose, and I can confirm that there were no discussions internally to lock prideful content behind paywalls purposefully, we are simply offering alternative loco designs and scenarios that happen to represent Pride in our game, and our pricing structure is to reflect our teams work on that content.

We hope it's clear that Dovetail stands with the LGBTQ+ community, and that we will not shy away from featuring this within our game whether it's spotlighting the fantastic community-made Pride liveries on Creators Club, or including support of Pride with visual flags and messaging within our games.

Train Sim World is intended to be enjoyed by everyone, and right now inclusivity has never been more important.
If you have any suggestions on more ways we can celebrate Pride within our games, please let us know :)
