Belgian Train Route Suggestion for Train Sim World Hello! I would like to propose a Belgian train route for Train Sim World. As a resident of Flanders (the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium) and a frequent traveler with the NMBS (Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen) / SNCB (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Belges), I believe Belgium offers a unique and valuable addition to the simulator. Why Belgium? 1. Neighboring Countries Are Already Included Most of Belgium's neighboring countries are represented in Train Sim World, including England, France, Germany, and soon the Netherlands. Belgium is a missing link in this network, despite being a central hub for international rail transport. 2. Key Role in International Transport Belgium plays a critical role in connecting major European railways. International trains from the Netherlands (Thalys and Intercity Direct), France (TGV and Thalys), Germany (ICE), and even England (Eurostar) all converge in Brussels and Antwerp, with some routes passing through Mechelen. 3. Unique Train and Station Variety Belgium offers a fascinating mix of 1990s rolling stock and cutting-edge modern trains, providing an exciting variety for players. Its stations reflect this blend, combining historic architecture with contemporary designs. 4. A Unique Driving Experience Belgium is one of the few countries where trains run on the left side of the tracks. This tradition dates back to the country's historic status as the first mainland European nation to adopt railways. 5. Rich History and Scenic Routes Belgium’s railways are steeped in history: The First Train in Continental Europe: The Southern Netherlands (modern-day Belgium) was home to the first railway on the European mainland. The North-South Connection: This critical link between Brussels-South and Brussels-North stations required the dramatic reconstruction of central Brussels. It remains Belgium's most vital rail junction today. Belgium also offers scenic routes through picturesque cities such as Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp, and Brussels, attracting millions of tourists each year. A Belgian Route for Train Sim World Including a Belgian route would enhance the diversity of Train Sim World while connecting existing international routes. Possible highlights could include: Key Stations: Brussels-Central, Antwerp-Central, Ghent-Saint-Pieters, and Liège-Guillemins. Rolling Stock: Classic AM96 or AM75 trains, alongside modern M7 or Desiro units. Special Features: Experience driving on the left, navigating dense urban junctions, and crossing iconic landmarks like the Atomium or the Leuven Viaduct. Great suggestion We really need some Belgian content! As a fellow citizen I hope that they will take action on some day to create it.
In topics in this forum, people spoke about licence issues at the SBB. Hopefully, this isn't the reason Belgium hasn't a TSW route yet. But if Belgiumrail (NMBS/SNCB) does not cooperate with simulator programs, it won't be that easy. Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 No Train Simulator route is made for The Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg. Simulator enthusiasts have made freeware routes and trains for Train Simulator, but I hope it hasn't been treated for licence problems. When the development of a rail system is the reason, Belgium could have to wait. The route Marseille - Aux de Provence was an experiment for France, where everything had to adjust for France (safety system, signals, signs, station adjustments, and so on. Now The Netherlands is an experiment, I think they check or this is such a success that they make more Dutch routes. Later on, when can try Belgium, which has ETCS1 and ETCS2, and what can be used from the Luzern-Sursee route. Maybe it also depends on the number of TSW users in a country. If many gamers from a certain country play TSW, they consider making one or more routes in that curtain country. Luxembourg has no route in Train Sim World, yet.
Yes Yes and Yes, we could bring some variation in the game due safety systems, unique rolling stock and in general a new country is a must have! Sadly Infrabel & NMBS aren't really interested afaik to talk to DTG about licensing etc.. Never say never!
Really hope Belgium gets in the game at some point. Just think of the beautifull stations we have like Antwerpen Centraal, Leuven, Liege Guillemins and the new Bergen station that just openend a few days ago. As for trains, I know I have a Desiro as avatar, but I really hope the 'klassiekskes' can make it into the game; classic EMU's AM62 - AM63. They just went out of service at the end of this year and it would be a great way to preserve these trains. But if they do one, I hope they really get the sounds spot on, because imo these were some of the best sounding trains ever made.
Perfect route for it would be Spa-Géronstère to Aachen Hbf set in 2019 for example. Mix of single line track, Verviers-Central & Welkenraedt as 'bigger' stations in between. Some lovely scenery on that route with the lovely bridge at Hergenrath!
