Well I watched a bit of the stream and was surprised they did say there were blurry textures happening with the beta team who have everything installed (assuming consoles?). Obviously they reiterated they're working on it. But then I guess with the TSW6 releases so far they can't hide that now so better getting out ahead of it? Remains to be seen what can be done and how long it could take though. I was surprised the route looked a bit quiet traffic wise apart from the yards but then as I've got no experience at all with German routes I could be wrong.
There are a select few on here who will defend DTG to the death, but I’ve been saying this about the German routes for some time now. Just seems someone at the company (not naming names or roles) is dominating the decision making when it comes to what is picked to do for Germany. I invite whoever it is to prove me wrong and make next summer’s big German release the Obere Ruhrtalbahn or the Eifelbahn.
Honestly on these forums there are certain people that will deliberately go out of their way to disagree with the most sensible suggestions ever
The truth is though that, whether it's Germany, UK or the US, there's a sameness, a monotony in route development in the past few years. The electric, one handled toy trains of the UK, the red boxes of Germany or the Metrolink and East Coast commuter lines of the US, there's a distinct lack of variety and historical content from DTG. And without steam and freight, the Railway is incomplete.. Third parties, like JT and TSG do somewhat better, but their efforts are infrequent. To find that diversity you have to go back to the 60's, 70's and 80's.in all countries. And that's not going to happen with the current management team at DTG.
It's not just German routes. Part of it is railfanning in general. There is a lot less variety in modern railroading, especially in European markets. Specific to TSW, they keep focusing on modern routes which further limits options. You may have over 100 years to choose from, but if you limit yourself to the last 5-10, then you're missing most of it. If you have 6 routes that all run the same stock in real life.... then that's realistic but boring. Having said that, the only continental routes I find interesting are the "older" ones with the older locos like the OBB 1020. It's just so different and well done. I say "continental" because there's Austria, Switzerland, etc so I don't feel right calling them just "German routes" even if they start or stop in Germany =-)
And possibly the modern player base. I'm not convinced there's a cabal at DTG HQ plotting to keep anything before 2010 out of the game. If that was the case, JT and TSG wouldn't even exist. I think the modern stuff sells well so they focus on that. Just like modern cars all kinda "look the same" but people keep buying new cars. Most people don't go out and fix up classic cars.
Do I get bored of German routes? Absolutely not! I'm British and prefer them. I enjoy them the most, along with Austria too, but why? - PZB/LZB makes it a highly challenging and rewarding experience every time so that it means gameplay never gets too boring. - The huge amount of locos and service types means nearly every route is busy and varied. - Commonality: A big positive for me as it means I can enjoy more of my favourite locos across so many different routes and time periods rather than just being stuck to one or two individual routes. - Loco variation: I like that you can have modern routes but still have loads of older locos to complement such as the 143, ICE 1 and so on. - German content feels like part of a wider interconnected world, instead of random and isolated routes that don't offer anything to other content. For instance, there are many of the same services that exist across different routes. - Expert locos: The Expert 101 is just simply amazing and the expert loco timetables are always the best.
So your argument is that it's "all the same" but also "entirely different" locos? As far as "connected" goes... the same can be said of the UK where many of the routes connect to one another and use the same common locos like the 66, 47, 86, etc. Except there's more variety of livery and time period in UK stock in game.
I love the DB loco’s Germany has and what we have in TSW currently. I just really wish we could get Berlin at some point…. I’d really love to see the 481 make an appearance.
