The Dortmund - Minden railway line is one of the most important and busiest railway lines in Germany. It is the main axis of long-distance passenger, long-distance and freight traffic between the Ruhr area and eastern Germany. It is part of the main line from Cologne-Deutz built by the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (CME) Minden, after which the company was named. It was opened in 1847 and has been modernized several times since then. The two current routes with the VzG route numbers 1700 (passenger traffic) and2990 (freight traffic) form the longest four-track section in Germany.

    Routedata:
Route number (DB): 1700 (passenger traffic) / 2990 (freight traffic)
Course book route (DB): 400 (Hamm - Bielefeld) / 370 (Bielefeld - Minden)
    Route length: 143 km
Track width: 1435 mm (standard gauge)
Cable category: D4 Power System: 15 kV, 16.7 Hz ~
    Maximum speed: 200 or 160 km / h
Train control: PZB, LZB (Dortmund-Hamm: LZB, CE I)
    Two-pronged: continuous

    Story:

After receiving the Prussian concession for its eponymous route on December 18, 1843, the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft began building the first section to Düsseldorf in the then independent Deutz, which it was able to open on December 20, 1845. Only a few weeks later, on February 9, 1846, the second section to Duisburg was completed, the provisional end point was the "Köln-Mindener Bahnhof", the first of three stations later at the same location. With the next section via Oberhausen, Altenessen, Gelsenkirchen, Wanne, Herne and Dortmund to Hamm, they deliberately opposed a route near the former coal mines on the north bank of the Ruhr and opted for the cheaper route because it is less hilly and therefore easier is to be realized. Nevertheless, it took well over a year before this section could also go into operation on May 15, 1847. In the same year, on October 15, 1847, the last section to Minden and thus the entire 263-kilometer single-track line was completed. The Royal Hanoverians opened on the same day that the state railways operate their Hanover - Minden route.

    Extension:

Since its opening, the Dortmund - Hamm railway has become increasingly important for rail traffic in the west-east direction and is constantly being expanded and modernized. At least it is consistently two-pronged and at the end of the 1950s it was provided with electrical overhead lines along its entire length. The first federal traffic management plan (1973) led the expansion line Dortmund - Hanover - Braunschweig as one of eight planned expansion projects in the area of the railroad. In 1986, the scheduled operation began at 200 km / h. In the early 1990s, the exemption was not extended, which allowed crossing existing level crossings at more than 160 km / h. Since then, some level crossings have been replaced by bridges. Since 2005, the route has been equipped with regular train control between kilometers 120.4 and 143.4 and, with the exception of the section between kilometers 130.4 and 134.1, can be driven at 200 km / h. Between the maximum permissible speed is 160 km / h due to the last two level crossings. The renovation of the BÜ = level crossing 12 Südkamenerstraße near Kamen was initially delayed because the necessary property rights were not available. An underpass is planned, for which the first construction work already took place in 2012. The remote signal of the entrance was relocated and a new section separator (switch for the overhead line) was installed. Bored piles were used between May and October 2020 to create a watertight construction pit, which was installed in November 2020. The completion of the underpass and the removal of the level crossing is expected in October 2021. Extensive renovation work has been carried out between Dortmund and Kamen since 2017 and 2020, including the route being closed several times. Among other things, overhead lines were renewed, noise barriers installed and train stations modernized and made barrier-free. As part of the upcoming expansion of the section between Kamen and Hamm, the construction of a new Selmigerheide stop in the Friedhofsweg / Röntgenstraße area is planned. In the third expert draft of the Deutschlandtakt, an extensive three or four-track expansion is assumed. For this purpose, investments of 1.3 billion euros are planned at the price level of 2015.

    Service:

The route is expanded every hour by ICE line 10 from Cologne via Duisburg, Essen, Hanover to Berlin and mostly served every two hours by InterCity lines or other ICE trains, see also the list of INTERCITY stations or the list of Intercity stations . In regional traffic the regional express lines RE 1 "NRW-Express", RE 3 "Rhein-Emscher-Express" and RE 6 "Rhein-Weser-Express" as well as the RE 11 "Rhein-Hellweg-Express" ([outdated] due to Construction work in Dortmund Hbf, the RE11 is expected to be available from July 2, 2021 for a year and a half, diverted via Unna and Soest [10]). Some of the RE 1 and RE 11 lines serve all intermediate stops, with the RE 6 only stopping in Kamen, see also the list of local transport lines in North Rhine-Westphalia. Local passenger transport (as of December 10, 2020) is provided by Abellio Rail NRW (lines RE 1 and RE 11), National Express (line RE 6) and the Eurobahn (line RE 3).

Ich würde mich sehr freuen, wenn diese Route für den TS 20xx käme!

    Alles Gute
