It would be nice to introduce some limited randomness in the behavior of AI trains. If the AI drivers were delayed sometimes, it would also affect the player's situation - driving the same train service many times, we could never be sure that the semaphores would give the same signals as last time.

Something like this has been successfully programmed for example in the great game "Diesel Railcar Simulator" and has a great effect on replayability. Of course it is more of a challenge, because you can't drive by heart anymore, you just really have to pay attention to the semaphores.

Ideally, this randomness should be manually adjusted by the player. For example: for the London-Brighton line, set the delay probability to 80%, and for the Brighton-Seaford branchline, set it to 10%. And of course you can set it to 0% on the Arosa-Chur route - after all, it's a swiss railway :)

I like the idea, the only downside is that the player would get point deducted for being late, without much he can do about it if he's stuck behind a delayed AI train.

Not that I care much about scoring in TSW anyways.

There's a thread "awesome services" which also has "chaos runs" Basically it's you disturbing the timetable on purpose. For example starting a service, don't depart and then take control of an adjacent train, your original service is taken over by the ai so you' re chasing it down while it's delayed giving plenty of adverse signals

Totally agreed for having delays added as it would bring a whole new life to timetable mode. As for example, it can be tedious running a service on time when you encounter oncoming AI trains at exactly the same part of the route and having green signals the whole way through. Would be nice to have some random delays to mix it up, and strongly support having as mentioned above an 'adjustable randomness delay' scale for those who wish or wish not to have it.
