    Hello,

Yesterday i bought this absolute wonderful sim.
I really enjoy the diversity so far and love the work done so far.

But one thing is a real big letdown and should be changed in a future update. The Render distance of tracks is really bad. I dont mind Mountains or villages on the sides popping in but if i see the track in front of me in the distance as a grey untextured square its a huge nogo.

The Playstation 5 should have the hardware to push this render range further.
Would it be possible to add an option in a future update where people can select increase render range?
If not would it be possible to at least extend the tracks rendering and cut towards the sides?

    Thank you in advance

This I believe is on the to do list as it's an Unreal engine optimization thing & currently extending the shadow draw & track detail rendering exponentially affects frame rates, I was initially disappointed but you do get used to it & forget about it soon enough.

Where did you read or hear about these plans?
Would like to see it myself, for getting used to it i doubt it with my perfectionism brain......

Thnx for the info so far

It's been mentioned in the live YT streams, when we might see an improvement or by how much they can improve this remains to be seen.

With that being said, I'd like to suggest that you brace yourself quite well, as perfectionism and DTG don't go well together. XD

I think it's in the roadmap as optimization.

The track render distance is an eyesore at first, but as paulc mentioned, you do grow accustomed a bit. It used to stick out to me like a sore thumb, now I barely notice it. Not that I would complain if it were to be improved upon. :)

It isn't actually the tracks rendering, but the shadows. DTG have hard-coded the shadow draw distance to be really, really short- even on PC, you can't force longer draw in the Unreal engine commands, which is unusual (most graphics can be tweaked)

That's actually a really good point. It's super-noticeable on the exterior cam views, where you can see tree shadows popping up right in front of the train.
