We will see but bear in mind Network Rail have let the lineside foliage become a linear forest in many places. In fact if you watch the Ben Elias cab ride on the HST measurement train from Exeter to Penzance filmed a year or two ago and it is very overgrown in places.

A Steam railtour last year stopped just after leaving Plymouth and it was reckoned that lineside foliage had caused a brake on one the carriages to come on.

    My two penneth.....

Rivet have done a good job overall with the route, some of the scenery looks stunning.
It was interesting to learn that route building started as far back as February.
I appreciated Matt being transparent about train sounds, DTG should follow this stance in the future.
Sounds on the 150 still sound a bit off to me, especially under braking.
The Voyager looks amazing, can't wait to see Virgin liveries in CC!
Timetable sounds to be something special, I hope the steam trains out of Paignton have been tested.
Distinct lack of npc people out and about on the route, do they really eat up memory?
The sea alongside Starcross and Dawlish looks a bit Meh

The sea alongside Dawlish is, for the vast majority of the time, flat as a pancake... (IRL)

Given how close to launch the stream was and given WCMLS at launch last year wasn’t great, feared the worst going into this. Shouldn’t have done, it looks absolutely superb. 4pm can’t come quick enough :)

Despite the unfortunate breakdown of the Voyager this route has certainly re-awoken my interest in TSW.

I just need to make up my mind whether to buy the route and Voyager or get the deluxe edition.

Although I love the new trains I am most excited to drive the 166 on it.

Every time I go on holiday to Dawlish it's 10ft waves and enough wind to challenge a Baked Bean factory ;)

The 166 had the same flashing effect on its windows as the voyager (I think) went past

Would appreciate someone uploading a video showing guard mode/panels on the 802/220 once released please. Haven’t quite finished watching the preview stream, but hasn’t been covered so far. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I have watched that exact cab ride video you are talking about, I was interested in other parts in the past, mostly Cornwall end. I know NR have let it become a lot worse than it has been previously. However there was just some parts on the Paignton branch in game particularly, that I know for a fact have hardly any trees (I have been there in real life this year), and yet in game its a full forest.
Not that I think its bad, or completely inaccurate by any means. I still could tell where I was at all times, but it's just some things that I noticed.

The whole point of putting in reversible working from Dawlish Warren to Teignmouth was to mitigate against rough seas. And why Cross Country had (presumably still have) a contingency plan to not run services between Exeter and Newton Abbot (or Plymouth) if a yellow or red weather warning is received.

Was a great stream, route looks v nice, sounds are all v good, trains are modelled superbly. And also great info/commentary from all 4 staff.
    Looking forward to playing.

Watched a bit more while getting dinner ready.

    Couple of thoughts…

If the issue with the first 220 run at Newton Abbot was a scripted random train fault, then the game needs to be prompting the player where to look. There also needs to be an “I give up”, command or function which will rectify the fault for you, without doing a total physics reset - which didn’t work anyway!

Very juddery around Dainton Tunnel and definitely get the slight overuse of tree assets vibe that we had from WCL,where there should be field patterns visible.

However still looking good and eager to get playing later.

I think they said the heavy stuttering/lag around Dainton was due to the stream and not the game. The in-game FPS counter in the top right stayed at 60FPS while the stream was lagging :)

This is something that needs highlighting, the button that exists to reset the train, doesn’t seem to reset it.

Also TSW itself obviously has code gremlins so it’s impossible really to tell if something fixable has gone wrong, or if the game has had a critical error which is what seemed to happen last night.

2 resolutions which would be ideal are 1). Fix the reset option. 2). Maybe add in a toggled console notification that lets us know what the game engine is doing, similar to ‘red text’ for OMSI.

The custard was boiling over at that point, which is why I probably didn't pick up on the comment!
