    Altbach
    [IMG]
1846 - Construction of the Esslingen - Plochingen railway line. As a "central place" to the neighboring communities in the Neckar Valley and Schurwald, Altbach is the only stopping point between Esslingen and Plochingen. This triggers the change to an industrial community.
The Altbach/Deizisau power plant is operated by EnBW and is one of the most modern coal-fired power plants in Germany. It is located on an island in the Neckar and half of it is within the district of the neighboring municipality of Deizisau, which is why the full name is also the Altbach/Deizisau power plant. The two chimneys are higher than the Schurwaldhöhen and the Filder and are therefore visible from afar.

Since 1899, the Neckar has been used to generate energy by one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Württemberg at the time. The buildings were demolished in 1998 and turned into a park.

    In 2006 there are changes.

Peoplemover - The bridge of the new people mover was installed while the mild weather and near calm helped to set up and prepare this world's first "elevator" over a track system, which transports people both horizontally and vertically.
On December 19, the time had finally come: Mayor Benignus inaugurated the long-awaited people mover. From now on, crossing the platforms to the S-Bahn is no longer a problem, even for people with walking disabilities, because the world's first people mover transports passengers horizontally and vertically.

For those interested, Tom Scott made a video about this peoplemove, would be neat to see it in the game, aswell as the rest of the route of course :).

    Obertürkheim
    [IMG]

When the Württemberg Central Railway was built from Stuttgart to Esslingen, Obertürkheim received a breakpoint. With its opening on November 7, 1845, it was the third station of the Royal Württemberg State Railways.

In order to strengthen the foundation of the one-storey reception building, earth had to be removed from the Ailenberg. Later, the building was raised by another floor. In addition, it got a side wing on the left and right. The station master lived on the upper floor, and from 1855 to 1899 there was a post and telegraph office on the ground floor in addition to the waiting room, which was responsible for the communities of Obertürkheim, Uhlbach and Hedelfingen.

As early as 1852, the state railway expanded the section of the Ostbahn between Cannstatt and Plochingen to double track. With the onset of industrialization in the wine-growing community, the station was expanded in 1868 to include a goods shed with a loading ramp.

From May 24, 1912, the terminus of the through line of the Esslingen am Neckar tram, which was operated by the company Esslinger Städtische Strassenbahn (ESS), was on the station forecourt. The tram ran from Obertürkheim to Oberesslingen.

The increasing rail traffic made an enlargement of the station inevitable. The reception building was no longer sufficient. For the new building, the management of the state railway commissioned the architect Martin Mayer, who also designed the Cannstatt station building, which was completed in 1915. Construction work began in 1914. This makes it - alongside the station buildings in Cannstatt and Mettingen - one of the last structures built by the state railway.

The lattice windows and green shutters on the platform side are characteristic of the two-story sandstone building. The facade on the forecourt side looks very representative with its two corner projections. The three round windows in between on the upper floor are similar to those at the Cannstatt train station. There are several dormers on the hipped roof. Delayed by the First World War, the building could not be occupied until August 1918. The previous building, which was in the immediate vicinity, remained in place until 1929.

On February 15, 1919, the Stuttgart tram company extended its suburban network to the Obertürkheim station forecourt, creating tram line 26 from Oberesslingen to Stuttgart's Schlossplatz. On April 1, 1922, Obertürkheim was incorporated into Stuttgart, which led to the station being renamed Stuttgart-Obertürkheim on December 1, 1927.
On October 14, 1931, the Reichsbahn completed the four-track expansion between Cannstatt and Esslingen. After the electrification of the Ostbahn, suburban services to Esslingen began on May 15, 1933. The number of passengers on tram line 26 fell as a result. From July 10, 1944, the Esslingen am Neckar trolleybus replaced the tram between Obertürkheim and Oberesslingen. Its current line 101 has since connected Obertürkheim station with the Lerchenäckern in Oberesslingen.
In 1994, Stuttgarter Strassenbahnen AG switched line 4 to standard-gauge Stadtbahn operation, which has since ended in Untertürkheim. There was no continuation to Obertürkheim. Likewise, an extension of the trolleybus to Untertürkheim was not popular.

In the course of Stuttgart 21, the conversion of the Obertürkheim signal box was awarded 2012 for 3.7 million euros (Siemens SpDrS60). Due to plan changes, the estimated costs in September 2016 were 7.1 million euros.
As part of the "Stuttgart 21" project, tracks are to be dismantled in Obertürkheim station, two sidings are to be built on the northern edge of the facility and the pedestrian underpass is to be partially rebuilt.
The S-Bahn station is to be made barrier-free by 2030. The first planning services for this were put out to tender in January 2022. The platforms on tracks 5 and 6 are to be raised from 76 to 96 cm above the top of the rails in 2028. A reduced superelevation is also being considered.

    Mettingen (Esslingen am Neckar)

Mettingen was first mentioned in a document in 1229. From 1399 Mettingen belonged to the city of Esslingen as a branch.

In 1519, Mettingen was burned down by Duke Ulrich after he had tried in vain to conquer Esslingen.
In 1913 the Esslingen machine factory, at that time a manufacturer of locomotives, trams, railway carriages, railway equipment (turntables, transfer tables), bridges, high-rise steel structures, pumps and boilers, built its new plant on the Mettinger Mark under the direction of Hermann Maier-Leibnitz. The site is now used by Daimler AG.

In 1927 August Häussermann founded the company "Lamellen- und Kupplungsbau August Häussermann". During the Second World War, the town is badly hit by bombs.

The steeple of the Mettingen church is particularly worth mentioning. This is called Faivegrädler because (allegedly) only four of the five turrets are visible from any point in Mettingen. But there are five in total (one in the middle and four on the outside). Therefore, five is an even number in Mettingen.
At that time, money was also collected in areas around Lake Constance for the construction of the church tower. The old cemetery lay around the church tower. Today only a tombstone is embedded in the outer wall of the church.

Mettinger Bahnhof, built in 1922-23 by architect Paul Bonatz, holds the S-Bahn S1, which runs between Herrenberg, Stuttgart, Esslingen, Plochingen and Kirchheim/Teck.

Is the power station tracks electrified or not? If Electrified DB BR155 Falns 183 can drop them off there but in the case, on Unelectrfied tracks to the power station 204 363 G6 OBB 2070 2048 (Required Layers RRO Main Spessart Bahn RSN Red 363 Blue 363 Riesa Dresden Dresden Chemnitz and in addition OBB routes) must be compatible with Falns 183 to the power station itself. On the German Wikipedia, it says the power station uses Steinkohle German term for Sand Patch Grade Clinchfield RR Bituminous Coal. This is like Werdohl Elverlingsen on Ruhr Sieg Nord where Bituminous Coal is used to fuel the Power Station.

No. The Tracks are not electrified. It would have to be driven there with Diesel;)

That must have happened much earlier with Steam, since this was one of the locomotives of the Factory.

Steam storage locomotives were mostly found in power stations and potentially explosive areas. Since there was enough steam available at power stations, the locomotives were filled with water and steam at a filling station.

The steam is supplied from outside and stored in the locomotive's boiler, which is 2/3 filled with water. The stored energy is sufficient for driving several kilometers.

Other machines were certainly used later.

Until we arrived in the present Day and such machines are on the move there.

On monday i was finally able to drive this route in real life (thank you 9€-Ticket) and here are some of my thoughts:
    - It is really busy with lots of regional services, S-Bahn (unfortunatly the area near Stuttgart was a mess on Monday, there was no S-Bahn- service for several hours and there were nearly no trains between Esslingen and Stuttgart. Usually the S-Bahn runs between Stuttgart and Plochingen every 15 minutes), ICE/IC and freight.
    - Especially Stuttgart to Plochingen and Geislingen are really scenic places which would look great in TSW.
    - It would be important to introduce Go-Ahead as a new company for the MEX-services (similar to RB-services) because DB is only driving the RE-services with our beloved 146.2 and dostos (and of course S-Bahn and ICE/IC).
So i think it would be a perfect route in TSW.

I would love to see my home-lines. There are many options to build from, starting at Stuttgart HBF. Wether its Ulm, Heilbronn (further Karlsruhe, Mannheim), Tübingen, Aulendorf, Herrenberg. The new highspeedtrail to Ulm. Also many options for new trains. BR650 as to seen in Nürtingen -> Neuffen, Metzingen -> Bad Urach or Tübingen -> Herrenberg/Aulendorf. Aswell BR611 wich was often seen as IRE between Stuttgart - Reutlingen - Tübingen. Nowadays its the already implemented BR612. BR111, BR151 often seen with old N-Cabines or sometimes X-Cabines (Very Rare), BR185, BR146. And the BR412 could be working great with the new highspeedtrail from Stuttgart to Ulm. And for the S-Bahn lines: BR420 wich was on the mainlines until 2010(?) i drove with one, when i was younger.. so. BR430 for the completly new lines, BR423, BR422 and BR425 for mostly S5 - S6. There many options as you can see.
16 Tracks (up), 2 (down). Several ICE, IC, IRE, RE, RB, MEX lines could be working. For freightdrivers there are many options to. Just as the Geislinger Steige has a lot of freightwork even shunting on the Steige is still by today worked on. Or Plochingen as big Rbf.

I would really love to see something from the southwest in TSW2. I mean there is nothing by now.. im hoping and i would pay more if there is a track that goes over the ~80km in average.

During the late night hours the high speed line Schnellfahrstrecke Stuttgart Ulm runs Freight trains that way it's populated. Think of Main Spessart Bahn Lohr connector line being used for Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg freight during late nights. That is one feature of German high speed trains during the late night hours sleeper trains and freight trains run over them except for Schnellfahrstrecke Rhein Main which was Purposely designed for high speed trends not mixed traffic. If merged with Filstalbahn Schnellfahrstrecke Stuttgart Ulm gets the heavier Freight Sleeper train EN468 469 Orient Express through them while Filstalbahn get lighter Freight trains local traffic during late nights.
