After Dostos-gate, Fence-gate, DistantScenery-gate, LegendaryDieselPack-gate, NoDrivingCab-gate, Sounds-gate, and Sprinter-gate, the latest scandal is Container-gate! ;) To be honest the only thing I noticed about the containers was that they seemed very European-looking. I could be wrong though.

Might pick up SH if they finish Track 3, otherwise it does seem rather incomplete. They took the time to add the freight lines on Dresden-Riesa so why not T3 on Sherman Hill?

Strictly speaking, Utah and Wyoming are Western states, rather than Southwestern, though you are correct in describing Sherman Hill being in open prairie. Cane Creek, being in Utah, which is a little south and west of Wyoming, is more of a desert route, though the Colorado River cuts through it and Utah, like Wyoming, has a very diverse topography overall.

wow, 4D chess move by DTG...
spent 5 minutes painting colored stripes on a single box containers, and the community will spent 2 full pages discussing those instead of the actual track....

That one is on me. I basically use south-west to describe anything vaguely desert- or prairie-like in the US, sorry. The diverse topography is something I know of, and it fascinates me quite a bit.

Well, the prairie extends north right up to and beyond the Canadian border

Oh, really? I wasn‘t aware of that. Does that mean there‘s also prairie in Montana or does it stretch to Canada in other ways?

Anyone who owns Marias Pass or Montana Hi Line back on TS1 should be somewhat familiar with the Montana plains.

I thought that was likely. As i'm a computer dweller by day I'd seen it drop on the store some days about 2-3pm. Steam must be stoking their finger pushing boiler still. Cheers chaps.

Nice to see that the Cane creek C44AC is subbing in. Sadly, that constant bell ringing in the SD70ACe after using the horn that was shown in the preview stream has been delivered to us as well :/.

Edit: Well, it appears to either keep ringing, or it doesn't ring at all.

Edit 2: Seems it's getting messed up between switching cameras from front / rear after using it. First activation can't hear the bell. Switch to rear then back and you can here it. Turn the bell off, switch camera to rear and back to front again and now it's off. I can work with this for now. Sounds great, and long trains. I've never seen TSW2 actually be able to use all 18 cores @ 4.78GHz of my CPU @ 100% before. Seems I finally need to upgrade my video card now though ;)

For now i think don't blow the horn then. Geez, what is going on iinside DTG team's head, they didn't test it before it went public?

Bought and downloaded at 2:30pm UK time. Tip for the introduction, don't do what I did and put it into notch 2 to start moving - the power lever is then locked and it takes eternity to get up to 10mph and trigger the next phase of the intro. 100 car trains make a bit of a dent in the performance of my (middling) rig.

The horn on the SD70ACe sounds so good though, it's hard not to! Thanks JimmyMillisky!

Really torn with this. I'm getting 17-23fps in places on a 2080ti. I'm close to the refund button

Its the first route im having to really dial settings back to get high 20s. Had to reduce screen performance and its not liking ultra

It is NOT possible to move the train in winter. The wheels slip, the sand does not help, I activated it on all locomotives. You put the thrust position "3" and the wheels begin to slip immediately. The loco brake doesn't help.
Was winter not tested at all? And the sand has absolutely no effect.

Turning down foliage makes a decent difference of nearly 10fps (ultra down to high).
    This is PERFORMANCE HEAVY.

I've had to turn down screen % and turn some things off of ultra to get high 20s, early 30s.

Is the EMD SD 70ACe just built for power not speed,i tried a solo loco and it didn't have enough power to move until notch 4 and speed wise it bearly touched 40mph for running as a solo engine you think it could move sooner or go faster.

So are the performance issues caused by the long trains (CPU bottleneck), or the foilage/scenery/graphics (GPU bottleneck)?

I get performance Issues both with DX 11 and DX 12 so it is not the rendering API that is the issue here. Its also not a CPU issue because DX 11 and DX12 deliver similar FPS on my right having a quite old CPU. So I would guess its a GPU issue here. I do have a 1050 TI which isnt a high-end GPU but getting 10-20 FPS is... strange because on all the other routes I get easily 30-60 FPS.

Are you set-up the loco properly? Like the Lead/Trail Setting and the Train Brake Cut-In/Cut-Out setting? And make sure to release the handbrake/parking brake.

Sounds like some brakes were still applied. I haven't done much yet on the route but was easily able to get over 60mph.

Strange. Other routes also have plenty of foilage, yet graphics performance doesn't seem to be an issue. I wonder if it might be something hidden and unreasonable taxing the performance, like the box cars on Clinchfield that are also tanking the FPS for some reason?

Same thing with me. My laptop has an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H 6C/12T up to 4.0 GHz. My GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM

I got SH and now some observations:

    1) Blow the horn and you can’t unring the bell.
    2) Why are the inspection lights SO BRIGHT? The front trucks are washed out even at high noon.
    3) When releasing train brakes, keep an eye on brakepipe pressure at the end of the train. A lo-o-ong train takes a lo-o-ong time.

I'll be honest I tinkered with it a bit and knowing that other routes all run at 60-90fps on ultra with 135% screen I've bailed and refunded. Hopefully not gone over my two hours. I "think" the foliage on ultra is wiping the GPU out from what I could see, perhaps in conjunction with consists. I might pick it up again at a later date when others have tested the route more.

I reduced the foliage per ini-command and got instant 10 fps+ on DX 11 and 12. So foliage seems to be a part of it.

I set foliage.LODDistanceScale=0.5 (default is 1 I think) and I got more FPS on the part near Hermosa so try it yourself. I cant guarantee if it will bring a lot of FPS but at least to me I got some.

I am running an Intel i9 9900 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz with 32 GB memory video is Nvidia GeoForce 3070 with 8 mb VDDR installed. I am seeing around 50 fps at 4k set to max with some stuttering. This about the same as what I am getting in CRR other than no stuttering with this route. Have run first 2 scenarios in the Journey. Yes, some scenery is drawing in fairly close, but that is not a deal breaker for me. Will say that whoever wrote the Hill Start scenario forgot to put the FRED on the back so you are not able to obtain the rear air pressure.

Consideration there though is you've stripped it back on every route and will need to fetter each time you play something different

He has an Intel i9-10900K. You can see it on the top left of the screenshot he sent here.
There is also some other useful info in that screenshot, like the cpu is only using 1 core at 24%, another at 10% and all others are basically taking a nap. Meanwhile, the gpu (2080 Ti) is at 109%.
