Let's be honest. Does anyone care? Only 4 US routes are worth existing, 2 of them are electrified, which is probably 0.001% of US's massive but horrible railway network.

MBTA Commuter, Boston-Providence, San Bernadino, New York- Trenton

No one wants 6 hours of driving a 3 mile long train at 15 mph that takes 40 minutes for the brakes to release!

It's a shame we don't get some surfliner content.

    I want P42DC so much
btw, I remember a third party project (through the PC editor) where they were creating the p42dc, I don't know what happened to it...

The complaints about lack of historic US content, and requests of US freight routes from well known routes from other sims invalidate this comment.

    Indeed.
Feather River Canyon, Denver to Granby, North Vancouver to Lillooet (and beyond), Kicking Horse Pass, Fraser River Canyons around Kamloops all send a great big, "Hi".

Not many people here care because this game just doesn’t simulate freight operations particularly well at all. You don’t really get to service industries/work locals, switching/shunting often has no purpose, etc. The bulk of the freight services in TSW are just A-B mainline running… no wonder people find it boring. Derail Valley and Run8 are a much more entertaining simulation of freight.

That said, this game is great for timetabled A-B commuter services as well as a few fleshed out commuter networks here and there.

Yeah no. "On other sims" exactly, because in this sim freight sucks with some exceptions. And once again, driving at 25mph for 8 hours isn't fun. American passenger is fun, but there are limited passenger services in America because the american railway sucks due to bad political decisions and the fact that a government only lasts 4 years but i won't go into that hole

From my observations US players do seem to get short changed in this game and I can understand their annoyance at that.

Yet for some reason people keep asking for those routes in TSW, even if US freight operations in TSW arn't good, which AGAIN. Goes against your original statement.

Just because it isn't fun for you DOESN'T MEAN it isn't fun for other people.

Sorry, but the USA has the greatest freight rail system in the world, and freight is what counts.

Intercity passenger rail is not economically viable here and has not been since the advent of affordable air travel. The distances are too great and the population density too low to support a European style rail network.

I can never understand people who say US freight is boring. Even slow speed limits can take some managing because of inclines and declines which can turn out to be a little game all on its own to keep the speed up and get max score. The scenery can be breathtaking too.
Personally I am not one for rushing from A to B in the quickest possible time. The routes I find the most boring are the fast express type services such as those run by ICE, Azuma, Acela etc. When it comes to passenger I much prefer something like Cardiff City Network, San Bernardino, S Bahn and MildMay for example.
But each to their own and we should all respect other people’s preferences. I respect people who enjoy rushing from one end of the WCMLS to the other in 30 minutes without essentially doing much in the cab, it’s their choice. Likewise with slow US freight.

I certainly don’t expect free updates for older DLC, but what I do expect is that DTG and SHG don’t over hype their marketing and then under deliver, which as far I am concerned is what has happened here.

Non-US OPs seem to misunderstand the nature of US rail operations. As Solicitr makes clear, freight is, for obvious reasons, the dominant use of most of the US rail network. However, those cities with heavier population density do indeed have extensive commuter rail networks - just because they cover a tiny fraction of US territory does not mean they are small networks. We already have the New York DLCs, plus Boston and LA (and no longer available San Francisco). But take Chicago - 8 local lines and 3 regional lines. Two of the lines - the Red and Blue each have 33 stations and are approx 23 and 27 miles long and share rolling stock on 600v DC third rail. Combined they would make the ideal lengh for TSW (although they do not interoperate) and they have an underground and an elevated section. The clear limitation is a single form of service, mostly end to end - each line takes approx 90 minutes to traverse. By the way, they are two of the few services anywhere that operate 24/7 - at night 5 tph (in the case of the Blue probably because O'Hare airport is one terminus). And Matt - they have a Pink line too! My point is that US passenger offers much for those who like busy commuter lines and personally, I would love to have the Chicago 'L' in TSW - something truly different, even though I can see it might crush consoles.

I certainly wouldn't complain if a CTA line were to come to TSW.

But personally I would prefer one of the Metra lines or even the South Shore to South Bend, IN.

That way there would be room for some freight movements and Amtrak services.

And they still haven’t fixed the reflective tape on the sides which it shouldn’t have and the livery which needs some fixes to it.

Also SHG isn't legally obligated to give you updates. The only legal obligation is that you own the game, and it can't be taken from you. And technically, not even that, in the EU you don't own your online games.
