With there being a 10% discount on the pre-order of the dlc on steam and me not being able to find the newsletter again to read what will happen I am wondering will it start off as having a 10% discount on Xbox and PS4 on release then when the same amount of time is over go to the £25 market value, or will it start off at the market value.
That's disappointing. Oh well guess I'll still buy it then for a few quid more than pc. Not an end of the world scenario.
There will be no Game Pass release as the game has to be a year and a half old at least to be on gamepass...
Rubbish. Loads of new games are on Game Pass. Sea of Thieves for example was on it from day 1 and for owners of Series X/S, The Medium is also on there.
That is only true of Microsoft published games. You might get some older routes popping up from time to time but don't hold your breath for any brand new TSW2 routes appearing on Game Pass on day one.
Not only Microsoft games can debut in Game Pass, there are many other titles (the Yakuza games, for example, but also many others). The age of a game has no effect on whether it can come to Game Pass or not. It depends on a deal between Microsoft and the game's publisher. Since TSW 2 is, right now, the "active" game in the series, I guess DTG is fine with having only the previous version in Game Pass, which can introduce more players to the series who will possibly upgrade to TSW 2. Maybe when we get another main release this summer/autumn then TSW 2 will be put into Game Pass instead of TSW 2020. However, since it's getting ever more confusing as the years go by, I seriously hope the developers will not complicate things further and will make TSW into a cohesive, unified platform going forward. For average players it's quite confusing already.
This might be an internal constraint, but it's not any kind of MS restriction. There are plenty of 3rd-party games that debut on GamePass.
As has been mentioned above, the age of a game has zero relevance on whether a game is available on game pass. I'm not sure if Matt had the wrong information on stream or if what he said has been misinterpreted, as I didn't see the stream in question. But the Medium is one example, Bloober team have nothing to do with Microsoft, but it was just an agreement between the two teams to bring it to Game Pass. Titles on Game pass are a direct agreement between the publisher and Microsoft, this agreement is usually financial where Microsoft pay a set amount for the game to be added to Game Pass for a period of time. During this time, some publishers will include DLC but most choose to exclude DLC (or provide a small discount) to encourage those who come to the franchise (because its on Game Pass) to maybe pick up a few of the available DLC. Because a Game Pass title isn't "owned" by the account, (it's owned by Game Pass and the subscription to GP is owned by the account) this means that any packages included in a game pass title (such as the TS2020 routes) are not detected as "owned" which is why they don't unlock on TSW2. You can however get the collectors edition of TS2020 on Xbox for £21 (CDkeys.com) which includes 5 (I think) routes, so if you're after extra routes cheap, that's the best deal by a long shot, and as the digital code you enter is then "owned" by the account, it obviously unlocks the relevant routes for TSW2. If Dovetail truly wanted TSW2 on Game Pass, I'm sure they could come to an agreement with Microsoft, however, while they're making good sales on the base game, there's no reason for them to bring it to GP (sure it would please gamers, saving ££'s, but let's be realistic, it's a business, and they're not going to agree to game pass for the equivalent of x sales when they might be targeting twice as many sales naturally. Finally, it's worth noting, very, very few DLC is added standalone via Game Pass, Think of it this way... Publishers agree to bring a title to Game Pass, more for the influx of players than the agreed financial payment, sure the cash is risk free, but it does not equate to the number of sales a game might potentially make. However having the thousands of extra players, means there's thousands of potential DLC purchases, Microsoft get a game on Game Pass, The Publishers get a larger userbase, and everones happy.
Does anyone know what the cost of the download is for SEHS for Xbox, have checked all the socials today and there is nothing published so far, have also checked on Microsoft site and it’s not even showing an icon on there for it at the moment.
